I/O, we've been working hard,</text><text start="107.933" dur="3.233">continuing our shift
from a mobile first to an AI</text><text start="111.166" dur="1.9">first world.</text><text start="113.066" dur="4.8">We are rethinking all of our
core products and working hard</text><text start="117.866" dur="3.9">to solve user problems
by applying machine learning</text><text start="121.766" dur="0.667">and AI.</text><text start="122.433" dur="2.7">Let me give you an example.</text><text start="125.133" dur="3.833">Recently,
I visited Lagos in Nigeria.</text><text start="128.966" dur="3.267">It is a city
of twenty-one million people.</text><text start="132.233" dur="6.366">It is an incredibly dynamic,
vibrant, and ever growing city.</text><text start="138.599" dur="3.767">Many people are coming
online for the first time.</text><text start="142.366" dur="4.233">So it's very exciting unless you
happen to be in the Google Maps</text><text start="146.599" dur="1.5">team
and you have to map this city.</text><text start="150.166" dur="4.9">And it is so - it is changing so
fast and normally we map a place</text><text start="155.066" dur="4.167">by using Street View and doing
a lot of stuff automatically but</text><text start="159.233" dur="2.833">it's difficult to do that in
a place like Lagos because the</text><text start="162.066" dur="1.5">city is changing.</text><text start="163.566" dur="4.234">You can't always see the signage
clearly and there are variable</text><text start="167.8" dur="1">address conventions.</text><text start="168.8" dur="1.166">Things aren't sequential.</text><text start="170.699" dur="2.467">So for
example, take that house there.</text><text start="173.166" dur="3.334">If you squint hard, you
can see the street number there.</text><text start="176.5" dur="3.066">It is number
three to the left of the gate.</text><text start="179.566" dur="1.667">That was relatively easy.</text><text start="181.233" dur="2.233">Onto a harder problem now.</text><text start="183.466" dur="2.8">That house, that
is what we see from Street View.</text><text start="186.766" dur="1.967">I think as humans,
it's probably pretty hard.</text><text start="188.733" dur="1.9">Maybe one
or two of you can spot it out.</text><text start="190.633" dur="4.433">But our computer vision systems,
thanks to machine learning, can</text><text start="195.066" dur="4.067">pick it out, identify
the street number, and start</text><text start="199.133" dur="1.533">mapping, mapping the house.</text><text start="201.4" dur="3">So we approach
Lagos completely differently.</text><text start="204.4" dur="3.366">We deployed machine learning
from the ground up and just in</text><text start="207.766" dur="4.7">five months, the team was able
to map five thousand kilometers</text><text start="212.466" dur="3.867">of new roads, fifty thousand
new addresses, and a hundred</text><text start="216.333" dur="1.7">thousand businesses.</text><text start="218.033" dur="2.833">It's something which makes a
real difference for millions of</text><text start="220.866" dur="2.767">users there
as Google Maps is popular.</text><text start="224.9" dur="3.233">And we think this
approach is broadly applicable.</text><text start="228.133" dur="4.6">Let's come closer to home
in parking in San Francisco.</text><text start="232.733" dur="4.333">I don't even try it anymore but
for those of you who try it, we</text><text start="237.066" dur="2.1">again use machine learning.</text><text start="239.166" dur="1.334">We understand location data.</text><text start="240.5" dur="1.5">We try to understand patterns.</text><text start="242" dur="2.133">Are cars circling around?</text><text start="244.133" dur="3.767">And the color shows the density
of parking and we can analyze it</text><text start="247.9" dur="3.166">throughout the day and predict
parking difficulty and in Google</text><text start="251.066" dur="2.067">Maps, give you options.</text><text start="253.833" dur="3.667">A simple example but it's the
kind of everyday use case for</text><text start="257.5" dur="3.266">which we are using machine
learning to make a difference.</text><text start="261.699" dur="3.134">The best example I can think of,
what we have talked before, is</text><text start="264.833" dur="2.066">Google Translation.</text><text start="266.899" dur="4.667">I literally remember many years
ago adding translation in Chrome</text><text start="271.566" dur="2.767">and making it automatic so that
if you land on a page different</text><text start="274.333" dur="1.767">from your
language, we do that for you.</text><text start="277.066" dur="1.6">Fast forward to today.</text><text start="278.666" dur="2.3">With the power of machine
learning and our neural machine</text><text start="280.966" dur="4.034">translation, we serve over two
billion translations in many,</text><text start="285" dur="1.833">many languages every single day.</text><text start="288.033" dur="3.533">To me, it shows the power of
staying at a problem, constantly</text><text start="291.566" dur="3.1">using computer science to
make it better, and seeing users</text><text start="294.666" dur="1.167">respond to it at scale.</text><text start="297.866" dur="3.134">This is why we are excited about
the shift from a mobile first to</text><text start="301" dur="2.466">an AI first world.</text><text start="303.466" dur="5.6">It is not just about applying
machine learning in our products</text><text start="309.066" dur="3.567">but it's radically rethinking
how computing should work.</text><text start="314.166" dur="4.1">At a higher level in an AI
first world, I believe computers</text><text start="318.266" dur="3.967">should adapt to how people live
their lives rather than people</text><text start="322.233" dur="1.8">having to adapt to computers.</text><text start="325.1" dur="3.533">And so we think about
four core attributes as part of</text><text start="328.633" dur="1.967">this experience.</text><text start="330.6" dur="4.333">First, people should be able
to interact with computing in a</text><text start="334.933" dur="2.3">natural and seamless way.</text><text start="337.233" dur="4.133">Mobile took us a step in this
direction with multi-touch but</text><text start="341.366" dur="4.3">increasingly, it needs
to be conversational, sensory.</text><text start="345.666" dur="4.3">We need to be able to use our
voice, gestures, and vision to</text><text start="349.966" dur="2.267">make the
experience much more seamless.</text><text start="353.733" dur="3.333">Second,
it is going to be ambient.</text><text start="357.066" dur="3.667">Computing is going to evolve
beyond the phone, be there in</text><text start="360.733" dur="3.933">many screens around you when
you need it, working for you.</text><text start="366.899" dur="3.934">Third, we think it needs
to be thoughtfully contextual.</text><text start="370.833" dur="2.366">Mobile gave us limited context.</text><text start="373.199" dur="3.101">You know, with identity,
your location, we were able to</text><text start="376.3" dur="1.766">improve
the experience significantly.</text><text start="379" dur="3.6">In an AI first world, we
can have a lot more context and</text><text start="382.6" dur="1.666">apply it thoughtfully.</text><text start="384.266" dur="3.433">For example, if you're into
fitness and you land in a new</text><text start="387.699" dur="4.834">city, we can suggest running
routes, maybe gyms nearby, and</text><text start="392.533" dur="2.1">healthy eating options.</text><text start="394.633" dur="3.2">In my case being a vegetarian
and having a weakness for</text><text start="397.833" dur="2.933">desserts, maybe suggest
the right restaurants for me.</text><text start="402.333" dur="3.933">Finally and probably the
most important of all, computing</text><text start="406.266" dur="4">needs to learn
and adapt constantly over time.</text><text start="410.266" dur="2.734">It just
doesn't work that way today.</text><text start="413" dur="3.199">In mobile, you know, developers
write software and constantly</text><text start="416.199" dur="3.601">ship updates but you know,
let me give a small example.</text><text start="419.8" dur="2.233">I use
Google Calendar all the time.</text><text start="422.033" dur="3.7">On Sundays, I try to get a
weekly view of how my week looks</text><text start="425.733" dur="3.1">like for once the work week
starts, say on a Monday or a</text><text start="428.833" dur="2.767">Tuesday, I'm trying to get
a view into what the next few</text><text start="431.6" dur="1.566">hours looks like.</text><text start="433.166" dur="3.6">I have to constantly
toggle back and forth.</text><text start="436.766" dur="2.467">Google Calendar should
automatically understand my</text><text start="439.233" dur="2.433">context
and show me the right view.</text><text start="441.666" dur="3.4">It's a very simple example but
software needs to fundamentally</text><text start="445.066" dur="1.633">change how it works.</text><text start="446.699" dur="4.167">It needs to learn and adapt and
that applies to important things</text><text start="450.866" dur="1.867">like
security and privacy as well.</text><text start="453.699" dur="2.734">Today, a lot of us deal with
security and privacy by putting</text><text start="456.433" dur="1.966">the onus back on users.</text><text start="458.399" dur="3.967">We give them many settings
and toggles to improve those.</text><text start="462.366" dur="4.134">But in an AI first world,
we can learn and adapt and do it</text><text start="466.5" dur="1.1">thoughtfully for our users.</text><text start="468.5" dur="3.133">For example, if it is
a notification for your doctor's</text><text start="471.633" dur="3.533">appointment, we need to treat it
sensitively and differently than</text><text start="475.166" dur="2.667">just telling you when you
need to start driving to work.</text><text start="479.433" dur="3.3">So we are really excited by
the shift and that is why we are</text><text start="482.733" dur="2.367">here today.</text><text start="485.1" dur="3.133">We have been working on software
and hardware together because</text><text start="488.233" dur="4.267">that is the best way to drive
the shifts in computing forward.</text><text start="492.5" dur="3.366">But we think we are at a unique
moment in time where we can</text><text start="495.866" dur="5.134">bring a combination of AI and
software and hardware to bring a</text><text start="501" dur="3.466">different perspective
to solving problems for users.</text><text start="505.866" dur="3.434">We are very confident about our
approach here because we are at</text><text start="509.3" dur="4.966">the forefront
of driving the shifts with AI.</text><text start="514.299" dur="4.967">Three months ago at Google I/O,
our Google AI teams announced a</text><text start="519.266" dur="3.434">new approach called AutoML.</text><text start="522.7" dur="4.099">AutoML is just our machines
automatically generating machine</text><text start="526.799" dur="0.667">learning models.</text><text start="528.533" dur="5.5">Today, these are handcrafted by
machine learning scientists and</text><text start="534.033" dur="3.933">literally only a few thousands
of scientists around the world</text><text start="537.966" dur="3.8">can do this, design the number
of layers, weight and connect</text><text start="541.766" dur="1.6">the neurons appropriately.</text><text start="543.366" dur="1.567">It's very hard to do.</text><text start="545.766" dur="1.334">We want to democratize this.</text><text start="547.1" dur="2.866">We want
to bring this to more people.</text><text start="549.966" dur="2.667">We want to enable hundreds
of thousands of developers to be</text><text start="552.633" dur="0.666">able to do it.</text><text start="553.866" dur="3.467">So we have been working on this
technology called AutoML and</text><text start="557.333" dur="4.4">just in the past month
for a standard task like image</text><text start="561.733" dur="4.733">classification, understanding
images, our AutoML models are</text><text start="566.466" dur="4.967">now not only more accurate than
the best human generated models,</text><text start="571.433" dur="2.1">but they
are more resource efficient.</text><text start="574.566" dur="2.467">So it is pretty amazing to see.</text><text start="577.033" dur="2.667">We are
now taking it a step further.</text><text start="579.7" dur="3.233">Let me talk about another
use case, object detection.</text><text start="582.933" dur="3.567">When we say object detection,
it's just a fancy name for</text><text start="586.5" dur="4.233">computers trying to delineate
and understand images, being</text><text start="590.733" dur="3.5">able to draw bounding boxes and
distinguish between all of the</text><text start="594.233" dur="4.1">vehicles there, scooters,
mopeds, motorcycles, and even</text><text start="598.333" dur="1.233">pick out the bike in front.</text><text start="600.533" dur="2.633">It has
a lot of practical use cases.</text><text start="603.166" dur="3.067">The Street View example
for Lagos works based on</text><text start="606.233" dur="1.467">object detection.</text><text start="607.7" dur="3.199">Google Lens, which you will
hear about later, as well as our</text><text start="610.899" dur="3.201">photography
in Pixel, uses object detection.</text><text start="614.666" dur="2">This is really hard to do.</text><text start="616.666" dur="5.867">The best human generated models
we have only have a 39% accuracy</text><text start="622.533" dur="4.833">but our AutoML models as
of the past couple of weeks have</text><text start="627.366" dur="4">reached around 43%
accuracy and they are constantly</text><text start="631.366" dur="0.667">getting better.</text><text start="633" dur="3.266">So the rate at which we
are seeing progress with AI is</text><text start="636.266" dur="4">amazing which is why we are
really excited about combining</text><text start="640.266" dur="2.7">it with our software and
hardware to bring it together</text><text start="642.966" dur="0.867">for our users.</text><text start="645.399" dur="2.867">Let me
give you a concrete example.</text><text start="648.266" dur="3.334">I was recently very inspired by
this tweet from a journalist who</text><text start="651.6" dur="1.799">was attending
the Little League World Series.</text><text start="654.633" dur="3.833">As you can see, there are two
Little Leaguers here, one from</text><text start="658.466" dur="3.534">Dominican Republic and the other
from South Dakota, and they are</text><text start="662" dur="3.333">talking to each
other using Google Translate.</text><text start="665.333" dur="4.133">It's a great example but I
looked at it and I feel like we</text><text start="669.466" dur="1.4">could do a whole lot better.</text><text start="671.833" dur="5.633">Computing needs to evolve where
this happens in a more natural,</text><text start="677.466" dur="3.467">seamless,
and a conversational way.</text><text start="680.933" dur="3.6">Later today you will get an
early glimpse of how we can push</text><text start="684.533" dur="4.766">this experience further by
thinking about AI, software, and</text><text start="689.299" dur="0.667">hardware together.</text><text start="691.766" dur="3.4">I couldn't be more excited by
the direction our hardware team</text><text start="695.166" dur="2.834">is taking
in approaching their work here.</text><text start="698" dur="4.399">So to give you a lot more
insight let me welcome Rick onto</text><text start="702.399" dur="1.934">the stage. Thank you.</text><text start="715.166" dur="1.2">>> RICK OSTERLOH: Hi everyone.</text><text start="716.366" dur="4">I want to welcome everyone here
today, Google fans, the media.</text><text start="720.366" dur="3.2">In the front row we have some of
our top sales reps from Verizon</text><text start="723.566" dur="0.733">and other partners.</text><text start="724.299" dur="1.967">It's great to have you all here.</text><text start="726.266" dur="4.033">Yes.

the scene and explain what we've</text><text start="736.966" dur="3.6">been working toward and just
how it ties into the vision that</text><text start="740.566" dur="0.9">Sundar outlined.</text><text start="742.799" dur="3.767">A year ago, we stood
on a slightly smaller stage and</text><text start="746.566" dur="5.1">introduced the world to

to design hardware from the</text><text start="1109.599" dur="1.101">inside out.</text><text start="1110.7" dur="4.7">It's this combination of AI,

forward are going to happen in</text><text start="1121.933" dur="2.7">the next ten years.</text><text start="1124.633" dur="2.6">We're still in the early days
for our hardware line but we</text><text start="1127.233" dur="2.1">know what it takes to
build great products in a</text><text start="1129.333" dur="1.5">crowded field.</text><text start="1130.833" dur="3.333">We weren't first with many
of our most successful products,</text><text start="1134.166" dur="6.367">Gmail, Chrome, Android, and even

we're best at, reimagining the</text><text start="1144.433" dur="3.833">experience to make it
radically helpful for the user.</text><text start="1148.266" dur="3.5">And as you'll hear today, our
next generation of devices is</text><text start="1151.766" dur="1.833">radically helpful too.</text><text start="1153.599" dur="3.834">They're fast, they're there when
you need them, they're simple to</text><text start="1157.433" dur="3.067">use,

for you to keep the tech in the</text><text start="1163.633" dur="2.233">background and out of your way.</text><text start="1165.866" dur="3.7">Interact with your devices
naturally through your voice or</text><text start="1169.566" dur="1.4">by touching them.</text><text start="1170.966" dur="5.034">And by building hardware around
our AI and software, we're</text><text start="1176" dur="3.266">creating products

faster and more helpful the more</text><text start="1182.266" dur="3.533">you interact with
them thanks to machine learning.</text><text start="1185.799" dur="5">As a family, made by Google
products represent the ultimate</text><text start="1190.799" dur="2">Google experience.</text><text start="1192.799" dur="2.8">Today we're going to show you
how we're creating a family of</text><text start="1195.599" dur="4.5">products that are there when you

with the most important place,</text><text start="1204.933" dur="1.433">your home.</text><text start="1206.366" dur="4.134">So let's hear next from Rishi
Chandra who leads our Home team.</text><text start="1210.5" dur="1.166">Over to you, Rishi.</text><text start="1219.533" dur="1.433">>> RISHI
CHANDRA: Thank you, Rick.</text><text start="1220.966" dur="2.6">It's been
a really exciting year for us.</text><text start="1223.566" dur="2.134">Google Home was the first
product to bring the Google</text><text start="1225.7" dur="3.5">Assistant to the home and we've
been constantly learning from</text><text start="1229.2" dur="2.899">our users so that we can make
the Assistant radically helpful</text><text start="1232.099" dur="1.734">for you.</text><text start="1233.833" dur="3.433">For example, as Rick mentioned,
in the last year we answered</text><text start="1237.266" dur="3.234">over one
hundred million new questions.</text><text start="1240.5" dur="3.4">The best part is you don't have
to talk like a computer or teach</text><text start="1243.9" dur="1.699">Google Home any new skills.</text><text start="1245.599" dur="2.101">It just works.</text><text start="1247.7" dur="2.766">Now we're really happy with the
positive feedback thus far but</text><text start="1250.466" dur="2.1">we know this is a journey.</text><text start="1252.566" dur="2.334">So we've been working hard to
bring Google Home to more people</text><text start="1254.9" dur="1.699">and more countries.</text><text start="1256.599" dur="2.667">This year, we launched in five
new countries and we're happy to</text><text start="1259.266" dur="1.9">announce that we'll
be launching in Japan later</text><text start="1261.166" dur="1.3">this week.</text><text start="1267.299" dur="2.434">Now bringing the Assistant to
people all around the world is</text><text start="1269.733" dur="1.733">no easy task.</text><text start="1271.466" dur="2">We had to make sure we can
understand people of different</text><text start="1273.466" dur="2.833">age
groups, genders, and accents.</text><text start="1276.299" dur="3.867">So we trained the Assistant at
a scale that only Google could</text><text start="1280.166" dur="3.433">with over fifty million
voice samples from hundreds of</text><text start="1283.599" dur="1.934">different ambient environments.</text><text start="1285.533" dur="2.833">We've been investing in voice
search for over a decade which</text><text start="1288.366" dur="3.8">is why we have the best
voice recognition in the world.</text><text start="1292.166" dur="2.667">Now earlier this year, we had
a major breakthrough with the</text><text start="1294.833" dur="2.633">ability to recognize your voice.</text><text start="1297.466" dur="2.5">We call it Voice Match.</text><text start="1299.966" dur="2.967">With your permission, we build
a model of your voice by looking</text><text start="1302.933" dur="2.767">at dozens of different
voice characteristics like vocal</text><text start="1305.7" dur="1.899">construct, pitch, and tone.</text><text start="1307.599" dur="3.034">This is a really big deal.</text><text start="1310.633" dur="2.433">Google Home is great for the
whole family but it doesn't mean</text><text start="1313.066" dur="2.733">I want to get the
same answer to every question.</text><text start="1315.799" dur="4.5">An Assistant can only be truly
useful if it knows who you are.</text><text start="1320.299" dur="2.734">With Voice Match, we're the
only assistant that can bring</text><text start="1323.033" dur="4.033">personal help to each individual
member of your household.</text><text start="1327.066" dur="2.634">So when you ask a question, we
match your voice and we respond</text><text start="1329.7" dur="3.233">with your calendar,
your commute, and your</text><text start="1332.933" dur="1.767">personal reminders.</text><text start="1334.7" dur="2.566">Now Voice Match has already
become one of the most popular</text><text start="1337.266" dur="1.634">features on Google Home today.</text><text start="1338.9" dur="3">Over half of all queries are
from people who have trained the</text><text start="1341.9" dur="2.1">Assistant
to recognize their voice.</text><text start="1344" dur="2.766">And starting today, we're
rolling out Voice Match to all</text><text start="1346.766" dur="3.567">seven countries
Google Home will be available.</text><text start="1350.333" dur="3.266">Now another popular
feature is hands-free calling.</text><text start="1353.599" dur="3">You can use your Google Home
to call any landline or mobile</text><text start="1356.599" dur="3.901">number in the US or Canada for
free without any additional apps</text><text start="1360.5" dur="1.166">or accessories.</text><text start="1361.666" dur="1.9">It just works.</text><text start="1363.566" dur="1.867">And I am happy to announce that
we'll be bringing hands-free</text><text start="1365.433" dur="3.3">calling
to the UK later this year.</text><text start="1368.733" dur="2.7">And starting today, you can
call out with your own personal</text><text start="1371.433" dur="3.567">mobile number so whoever you're
calling will know it's you.</text><text start="1375" dur="1.633">You just need to verify
your number through the</text><text start="1376.633" dur="1.666">Google Home App.</text><text start="1378.299" dur="3.101">And of course with Voice Match,
we can recognize your voice to</text><text start="1381.4" dur="4.733">make sure we call your contact
with your personal number.</text><text start="1386.133" dur="2.367">Hands-free calling also has
the intelligence of Google built</text><text start="1388.5" dur="1.099">right in.</text><text start="1389.599" dur="3.301">Just say hey Google,
call the bakery on 24th street.</text><text start="1392.9" dur="1.066">>> GOOGLE ASSISTANT: Okay.</text><text start="1393.966" dur="2.333">Calling Noe Valley Bakery.</text><text start="1396.299" dur="1.5">>> RISHI CHANDRA: We do the
hard work to figure out which</text><text start="1397.799" dur="3.134">business you want to call thanks
to Google's deep expertise in</text><text start="1400.933" dur="1.4">local search.</text><text start="1402.333" dur="2.667">Making
a call has never been easier.</text><text start="1405" dur="2.5">Now we have a lot of great news
to share with you today so to</text><text start="1407.5" dur="3">kick things off, I would like to
welcome Isabelle, lead designer</text><text start="1410.5" dur="1.333">for Home hardware.</text><text start="1420.533" dur="1.333">>> ISABELLE
OLSSON: Thank you, Rishi.</text><text start="1421.866" dur="3.433">I am thrilled to share
with you how we think design is</text><text start="1425.299" dur="3.034">redefining
technology in the home.</text><text start="1428.333" dur="3.067">You heard Rick mention earlier
today that everything in our</text><text start="1431.4" dur="3.6">hardware line is
designed to fit into your life.</text><text start="1435" dur="4.166">The home is a special, intimate
place, and people are very</text><text start="1439.166" dur="2.867">selective
about what they welcome into it.</text><text start="1442.033" dur="2.733">You don't want to fill it
with black plastic, complicated</text><text start="1444.766" dur="2.934">buttons,
and random blinking lights.</text><text start="1447.7" dur="3.966">Our vision is to build simple,
helpful solutions that work in</text><text start="1451.666" dur="3.133">the background, helping you when
you need it and staying out of</text><text start="1454.799" dur="2.167">the way when you don't.</text><text start="1456.966" dur="2.333">So here
is what that means to us.</text><text start="1459.299" dur="3.734">We design for the spaces
our products live in and we take</text><text start="1463.033" dur="3.167">inspiration from the materials
and colors that people already</text><text start="1466.2" dur="3.666">use to make their
home more warm and inviting.</text><text start="1469.866" dur="4.433">Second, when designing for
real homes form and size really</text><text start="1474.299" dur="3.734">matters for creating something
that actually fits into any room</text><text start="1478.033" dur="1.9">or on any surface.</text><text start="1479.933" dur="4.067">And lastly, the way you interact
with our products has to be so</text><text start="1484" dur="3.733">intuitive, you never even have
to think about it, and so simple</text><text start="1487.733" dur="3.866">that the
entire household can use it.</text><text start="1491.599" dur="4.734">With that, we are introducing
Mini, the newest member of the</text><text start="1496.333" dur="1.667">Google Home family.</text><text start="1503.633" dur="3.567">The first thing you might notice
is the striking simplicity of</text><text start="1507.2" dur="1.333">the design.</text><text start="1508.533" dur="3.967">It is sleek and
smooth with no corners or edges.</text><text start="1512.5" dur="4.2">And it is small enough to be
placed in anywhere in your home.</text><text start="1516.7" dur="4.866">It makes Google Home more
accessible to more people in</text><text start="1521.566" dur="2.334">more rooms.</text><text start="1523.9" dur="4.266">And as you can see, almost the
entire enclosure is made out of</text><text start="1528.166" dur="4.567">fabric and it is not just about
aesthetics, it's core to the</text><text start="1532.733" dur="1.933">product experience.</text><text start="1534.666" dur="4.267">That is why we created this
material from scratch, right</text><text start="1538.933" dur="2.067">down to the yarn.</text><text start="1541" dur="4.166">It needed to be durable and soft
but also transparent enough to</text><text start="1545.166" dur="2.834">let
through both light and sound.</text><text start="1548" dur="3.533">This perfect balance allows for
all of Mini's technology to be</text><text start="1551.533" dur="2.633">thoughtfully tucked

to pause your music, adjust the</text><text start="1570.666" dur="3.034">volume,

to get great sound with such a</text><text start="1577.2" dur="2.066">small product too.</text><text start="1579.266" dur="3.267">We embraced Mini's circular
shape to project three hundred</text><text start="1582.533" dur="4.066">and sixty degree sound so it is
really crisp no matter where you</text><text start="1586.599" dur="1.467">stand in the room.</text><text start="1588.066" dur="4.467">You'll be surprised
how amazing the quality is.</text><text start="1592.533" dur="3.233">And if you want bigger sound,
you can easily connect mini to</text><text start="1595.766" dur="4.567">any Chromecast

beautiful colors, coral, chalk,</text><text start="1605.9" dur="2.199">and charcoal.</text><text start="1608.099" dur="2.967">Color

we choose our drapes and carpets</text><text start="1613.733" dur="3.066">and

same level of care for mini.</text><text start="1620.633" dur="4.7">For the chalk color alone,
it took us one hundred and</text><text start="1625.333" dur="4.4">fifty-seven tries before we

wait for you to try out Mini.</text><text start="1750.033" dur="2.133">We also want to share how the
Google Assistant continues to</text><text start="1752.166" dur="1.667">get better over time.</text><text start="1753.833" dur="2.933">From the start, we've been
helping everyone - people - with</text><text start="1756.766" dur="1.667">their everyday routines.</text><text start="1758.433" dur="2.8">For example, one of my favorite
features is My Day which gives</text><text start="1761.233" dur="3.366">me a personalized briefing of
my important events of the day.</text><text start="1764.599" dur="2.234">And with Voice Match,
each member of the house can get</text><text start="1766.833" dur="2.966">their own unique
start to their morning routine.</text><text start="1769.799" dur="2.101">Well soon, we're going
to be extending routines in two</text><text start="1771.9" dur="1.366">important ways.</text><text start="1773.266" dur="2.4">First, we're adding more
routines to help you with those</text><text start="1775.666" dur="3.367">everyday moments like getting
ready to leave for work, coming</text><text start="1779.033" dur="3.566">home in the evening,
or turning in for the night.</text><text start="1782.599" dur="3.134">Second, we're adding additional
actions to the routines so now</text><text start="1785.733" dur="2.733">when I say good morning, I not
only get my personal briefing</text><text start="1788.466" dur="3.567">but I also can turn on the
lights, start the coffee maker,</text><text start="1792.033" dur="2.667">and even play
my favorite morning playlist.</text><text start="1794.7" dur="2">This kind of help is
exactly what I need to get my</text><text start="1796.7" dur="1.899">day started.</text><text start="1798.599" dur="2.101">Now another ritual for me in the
morning is I'm always looking</text><text start="1800.7" dur="2.433">for
my phone before heading to work.</text><text start="1803.133" dur="1.933">Well the Google
Assistant can help there too.</text><text start="1805.066" dur="3.233">Just say hey Google, find my
phone, and we'll automatically</text><text start="1808.299" dur="3.201">ring your Android phone,
even if it's on silent mode.</text><text start="1811.5" dur="3.033">And for iPhone
users, we just give you a call.</text><text start="1814.533" dur="3.167">It saves me five or
ten minutes every morning.</text><text start="1820.866" dur="1.2">Yes.</text><text start="1824.466" dur="2.3">Now we're also working to
make the smart home work better</text><text start="1826.766" dur="1.3">for you.</text><text start="1828.066" dur="3.2">The Google Assistant can now
voice control over a thousand</text><text start="1831.266" dur="3.533">different smart home products
from over one hundred brands.</text><text start="1834.799" dur="3.034">And even more importantly,
we brought our deep expertise of</text><text start="1837.833" dur="2.966">natural language processing to
make it easier to voice control</text><text start="1840.799" dur="2.534">in a more conversational way.</text><text start="1843.333" dur="2.5">So for example if I want
to change the temperature, I</text><text start="1845.833" dur="2.5">shouldn't have to remember
the current thermostat setting.</text><text start="1848.333" dur="3.033">I should just be able to
say hey Google, make it warmer.</text><text start="1851.366" dur="2.733">>> GOOGLE ASSISTANT: Okay.
Warming up the living room.</text><text start="1854.099" dur="1.534">>> RISHI CHANDRA: Your Assistant
knows what warmer means and will</text><text start="1855.633" dur="1.966">just take care of it for you.</text><text start="1857.599" dur="2.267">Now
voice control is just the start.</text><text start="1859.866" dur="2.9">We believe the next evolution of
the smart home is to bring real</text><text start="1862.766" dur="2.734">intelligence to the home so it
can behave in a more thoughtful</text><text start="1865.5" dur="3.633">way. Your home should smartly
adjust to you, not the other</text><text start="1869.133" dur="1.666">way around.</text><text start="1870.799" dur="3.034">So Google and Nest are
working together to reimagine</text><text start="1873.833" dur="1.333">the smart home.</text><text start="1875.166" dur="3.9">To tell you more, I would like
to welcome Yoky, CTO of Nest.</text><text start="1887.799" dur="1.901">>> YOKY
MATSUOKA: Thank you, Rishi.</text><text start="1889.7" dur="4.933">At Nest, we like to talk about
the thoughtful home, one that</text><text start="1894.633" dur="4.433">takes care of the people inside
it and the world around it.</text><text start="1899.066" dur="4.434">We recently took a big step
forward in achieving that goal</text><text start="1903.5" dur="3.299">by doubling our
portfolio by shipping six new</text><text start="1906.799" dur="2.034">hardware products.</text><text start="1908.833" dur="4.133">What I love about Nest's growing
ecosystem is that we combine the</text><text start="1912.966" dur="4.034">best in class hardware and
machine learning to help make</text><text start="1917" dur="2.433">peoples' lives easier.</text><text start="1919.433" dur="3.8">And your Nest experience reaches
a whole new level when it is</text><text start="1923.233" dur="2.433">combined with Google products.</text><text start="1925.666" dur="4.234">Let me show you three examples
of how we can provide you with</text><text start="1929.9" dur="3.266">even more help at home.</text><text start="1933.166" dur="5.967">With Nest Cam, Google Home, and
Chromecast, we can help keep you</text><text start="1939.133" dur="3.633">- keep an eye on
your home just with your voice.</text><text start="1942.766" dur="5.333">So if you hear some unexpected
sound by the front door and I am</text><text start="1948.099" dur="4.934">in the back in the family room
without my phone, I can just say</text><text start="1953.033" dur="2.867">okay
Google, show me the entryway.</text><text start="1955.9" dur="0.699">>> GOOGLE ASSISTANT: Okay.</text><text start="1956.599" dur="2.401">Streaming the entryway.</text><text start="1959" dur="3.966">>> YOKY MATSUOKA: And then I
realize it's not an intruder but</text><text start="1962.966" dur="7.633">my pet pig, Cayenne, and she
has found a leftover lunch in my</text><text start="1970.599" dur="2.534">son's backpack.</text><text start="1973.133" dur="3.5">Sadly this
has happened more than once.</text><text start="1976.633" dur="3.867">And if I want to keep it for
later for my kids, I can simply</text><text start="1980.5" dur="4.333">say okay Google, save me this
clip to show them why we don't</text><text start="1984.833" dur="2.266">leave food in our backpacks.</text><text start="1989.599" dur="3.867">With our new video doorbell,
Nest Hello, we can also start to</text><text start="1993.466" dur="3.8">solve some of our common pain
points through Google and Nest</text><text start="1997.266" dur="4.667">integrated
computer vision technologies.</text><text start="2001.933" dur="1.967">Of course, most of us want to
know who is at the door before</text><text start="2003.9" dur="2.766">we get off the couch.</text><text start="2006.666" dur="4.067">Through a feature called
familiar faces, Nest Hello will</text><text start="2010.733" dur="4.566">be able to recognize the people
that you asked it to remember.</text><text start="2015.299" dur="4.267">So when the doorbell rings and
Nest Hello recognizes the person</text><text start="2019.566" dur="3.033">at the door, it will
automatically broadcast that</text><text start="2022.599" dur="4.334">information to Google
Home devices in the house.</text><text start="2026.933" dur="4.267">>> GOOGLE ASSISTANT: Auntie
Suzy is at the front door.</text><text start="2031.2" dur="2.566">>> YOKY MATSUOKA:
And you don't even have to ask.</text><text start="2033.766" dur="3.6">And if Nest Hello doesn't know
who is at the door, you can just</text><text start="2037.366" dur="4.5">say okay Google, show me who
is at the front door and we will</text><text start="2041.866" dur="3.733">stream your
camera feed right to your TV.</text><text start="2045.599" dur="3.867">This is another great example
of what Google and Nest can</text><text start="2049.466" dur="1">do together.</text><text start="2052.5" dur="3.533">And
this last one is my favorite.</text><text start="2056.033" dur="3.166">Your home can soon get
ready for the night just with a</text><text start="2059.199" dur="1.834">simple command.</text><text start="2061.033" dur="2.933">As Rishi mentioned, you
can personalize your routine to</text><text start="2063.966" dur="2.567">include
actions for Nest products.</text><text start="2066.533" dur="4.967">So all I have
to say is hey Google, goodnight.</text><text start="2071.5" dur="0.699">>> GOOGLE ASSISTANT: Okay.</text><text start="2072.199" dur="1.567">Let's get ready for bed.</text><text start="2073.766" dur="1.833">I am armed your security system.</text><text start="2075.599" dur="3.567">Your first calendar

background, my Assistant is also</text><text start="2085.933" dur="3.9">turning my security camera on,
adjusting the thermostat, and</text><text start="2089.833" dur="2.2">turning off the lights.</text><text start="2092.033" dur="3.633">This really simplifies my life
and gives me the peace of mind</text><text start="2095.666" dur="4">that I cannot get any other way.</text><text start="2099.666" dur="4.367">Together, Nest and Google
deliver an ecosystem of products</text><text start="2104.033" dur="4">that make your home more secure
and energy efficient, more</text><text start="2108.033" dur="3.1">connected and

about Google Assistant, let me</text><text start="2134.566" dur="2.067">welcome Rishi back on stage.</text><text start="2141.866" dur="1.8">>> RISHI

thoughtful home is just one way</text><text start="2146.733" dur="4.6">to help make our joyfully hectic
family lives a little easier.</text><text start="2151.333" dur="2.233">You know, the Google Assistant
already provides a lot of help,</text><text start="2153.566" dur="3.367">from using your voice to order

are going to love this feature.</text><text start="2190.033" dur="3.4">Kids - kids
are going to hate this feature.</text><text start="2193.433" dur="2.967">But that's what makes it useful.</text><text start="2196.4" dur="2.433">Speaking of kids, we
think Google Home has a lot of</text><text start="2198.833" dur="4">potential with
- to help kids and families.</text><text start="2202.833" dur="2.967">Voice interaction is so
simple and easy to use, kids are</text><text start="2205.8" dur="1.766">naturally drawn to it.</text><text start="2207.566" dur="2.6">So we want to be thoughtful
about what it would take to</text><text start="2210.166" dur="2.567">deliver a great kids experience.</text><text start="2212.733" dur="2.6">We conducted research with
hundreds of parents and kids</text><text start="2215.333" dur="3.266">from across the country

support for Family Link accounts</text><text start="2221.866" dur="1.4">on Google Home.</text><text start="2223.266" dur="2.5">These are Google accounts that

kids have their own unique way</text><text start="2232.199" dur="1.234">of speaking.</text><text start="2233.433" dur="1.967">Sometimes it can be a little

exciting addition to share that</text><text start="2380.333" dur="1.567">is coming
to the Google Home family.</text><text start="2453.199" dur="3.234">Say hello to Max, our
biggest and best sounding</text><text start="2456.433" dur="1.9">Google Home ever.</text><text start="2458.333" dur="3.033">Just like the Pixel reimagined
the camera, we will do the same</text><text start="2461.366" dur="1.434">with sound.</text><text start="2462.8" dur="3.433">With a combination of great
hardware and software powered by</text><text start="2466.233" dur="2.5">Google's
machine learning capabilities.</text><text start="2468.733" dur="3.466">Now it starts with a strong
foundation of great hardware.</text><text start="2472.199" dur="3.534">The first thing you'll notice is
how we obsessed over the base.</text><text start="2475.733" dur="2.933">Its two 4.5 inch woofers
have twenty-two millimeters of</text><text start="2478.666" dur="3.567">excursion and extremely
high range for their size.</text><text start="2482.233" dur="2.9">That means these woofers can
move a lot of air, allowing Max</text><text start="2485.133" dur="2.6">to really
hit those low frequencies.</text><text start="2487.733" dur="2.933">And
Max can play loud, really loud.</text><text start="2490.666" dur="3.1">It's more than twenty times more
powerful than Google Home so it</text><text start="2493.766" dur="4.1">will fill any room in
your house with amazing audio.</text><text start="2497.866" dur="3.534">Now great hardware alone isn't
sufficient for great sound.</text><text start="2501.4" dur="2.466">The challenge of speakers today
is that they are tuned for ideal</text><text start="2503.866" dur="3.867">acoustic conditions, but they
fall short in the real world.</text><text start="2507.733" dur="1.966">That's why it always sounds
different in the store than in</text><text start="2509.699" dur="1.434">your home.</text><text start="2511.133" dur="3.367">To sound great, the speaker
needs to adjust to you and</text><text start="2514.5" dur="1.333">your home.</text><text start="2515.833" dur="3.833">So today we're announcing Smart
Sound, a new audio experience</text><text start="2519.666" dur="2.234">powered by Google's AI.</text><text start="2521.9" dur="5">It allows Max to adapt to you,
your environment, your context,</text><text start="2526.9" dur="1.633">your preferences.</text><text start="2528.533" dur="3.767">So for example, if you setup a
speaker near a wall, on a shelf,</text><text start="2532.3" dur="2.833">in a corner, fairly common
places, it can dramatically</text><text start="2535.133" dur="2.9">change the sound balance of the
speaker and make the music sound</text><text start="2538.033" dur="2.2">muddy
and the vocals lose clarity.</text><text start="2540.233" dur="3.033">Well with Smart Sound, we
automatically tune the speaker</text><text start="2543.266" dur="2.833">to correct for this effect
using our machine learning model</text><text start="2546.099" dur="3.401">trained with thousands of
different room configurations.</text><text start="2549.5" dur="3.133">What's really cool,
this is all done dynamically.</text><text start="2552.633" dur="2.933">So if you decide to move Max
a few feet, it will compensate</text><text start="2555.566" dur="1.6">within seconds.</text><text start="2557.166" dur="3.334">And over time, Smart Sound will
automatically adapt the sound to</text><text start="2560.5" dur="4.266">fit your context, lowering the
volume in the morning, raising</text><text start="2564.766" dur="3.333">the volume when the dishwasher
is running, or just adjusting</text><text start="2568.099" dur="2.401">the tuning based on the type
of media you're listening to,</text><text start="2570.5" dur="2.766">whether
it be music, podcasts, or news.</text><text start="2573.266" dur="3.234">It's about delivering
a consistent, crisp, thoughtful</text><text start="2576.5" dur="2.933">sound experience, one that
is tailored to your home and</text><text start="2579.433" dur="1.567">your moments.</text><text start="2581" dur="2.166">Now great sound only matters
if you can play a lot of</text><text start="2583.166" dur="1.433">great content.</text><text start="2584.599" dur="2.867">With YouTube Music, you'll have
access to the world's broadest</text><text start="2587.466" dur="4.167">catalog of songs, remixes, and
covers, and we also support all</text><text start="2591.633" dur="3.566">free and paid Spotify
users along with other top</text><text start="2595.199" dur="1.567">music services.</text><text start="2596.766" dur="2.833">Just use your voice to start
playing your favorite tunes.</text><text start="2599.599" dur="5.334">Max also supports Cast,
Bluetooth, and stereo AUX input</text><text start="2604.933" dur="2.333">so you can play anything
from your phone or plug in that</text><text start="2607.266" dur="4.067">record player to breathe new
life into that vinyl collection.</text><text start="2611.333" dur="3.5">And of course, Max has a
Google Assistant built right in.</text><text start="2614.833" dur="3.6">We made - your Assistant can
hear you even when the music is</text><text start="2618.433" dur="3.3">blasting using our
unique microphone placement and</text><text start="2621.733" dur="2.933">Google's
neural beam forming technology.</text><text start="2624.666" dur="2.467">And with Voice Match, the
Assistant can become your own</text><text start="2627.133" dur="1.566">personal DJ.</text><text start="2628.699" dur="2.267">We recognize your voice and
we can play playlists and music</text><text start="2630.966" dur="2.934">stations personalized to you.</text><text start="2633.9" dur="3.199">And Google Home Max was designed
to be incredibly versatile and</text><text start="2637.099" dur="1.701">fit naturally into your home.</text><text start="2638.8" dur="3.066">You can stand it up vertically,
place it horizontally, whatever</text><text start="2641.866" dur="2.167">makes sense for your space.</text><text start="2644.033" dur="4.166">Its base magnetically pops into
place so when you change Max's</text><text start="2648.199" dur="2">orientation, there aren't
any rubber feet where they don't</text><text start="2650.199" dur="1.201">need to be.</text><text start="2651.4" dur="2.266">We thought through every detail.</text><text start="2653.666" dur="2.767">And finally, Max works
seamlessly with the Google Home</text><text start="2656.433" dur="3.333">family and hundreds
of Chromecast built-in speakers.</text><text start="2659.766" dur="2.333">So you can use multi-room
to sync every room in your house</text><text start="2662.099" dur="2.334">with immersive sound.</text><text start="2664.433" dur="3.3">Google Home Max will be
available starting December for</text><text start="2667.733" dur="5.466">$399 and it will come in
two colors, chalk and charcoal.</text><text start="2673.199" dur="2.701">We will initially launch in the
US, with more countries coming</text><text start="2675.9" dur="1.9">early next year.</text><text start="2677.8" dur="2">And to make sure you have an
amazing sound experience out of</text><text start="2679.8" dur="3.799">the box, we're providing a free
twelve month subscription to</text><text start="2683.599" dur="4.634">YouTube Red which
includes YouTube Music ad-free.</text><text start="2688.233" dur="1.866">We think you're going to really
love the newest members of the</text><text start="2690.099" dur="1.701">Google Home family.</text><text start="2691.8" dur="2.2">Along with the updates to the
Google Assistant, they represent</text><text start="2694" dur="4.066">a big leap forward in the type
of helpfulness, fun, and sound</text><text start="2698.066" dur="2.434">you can

achieved that and it starts with</text><text start="4743.566" dur="1.234">great hardware.</text><text start="4744.8" dur="4.5">The Pixel 2 has a 12 megapixel
F1.8 aperture rear camera with</text><text start="4749.3" dur="2.2">optical image stabilization.</text><text start="4751.5" dur="3">We have integrated these
components with our HDR plus</text><text start="4754.5" dur="1.966">computational photography.</text><text start="4756.466" dur="3.6">For every photo, we take a burst
of shots with short exposure</text><text start="4760.066" dur="3.167">times to avoid
blowing out the highlights.</text><text start="4763.233" dur="3.933">We then align and combine
each pixel algorithmically for</text><text start="4767.166" dur="2.934">optimal color and contrast.</text><text start="4770.1" dur="3.799">All of this happens
instantly with zero shutter lag.</text><text start="4773.899" dur="3.401">The results are stunning,
with high dynamic range even in</text><text start="4777.3" dur="2.433">challenging
low light conditions.</text><text start="4779.733" dur="3.1">This year, we've increased
the dynamic range and improved</text><text start="4782.833" dur="3.767">texture and sharpness and
combined with a new auto focus</text><text start="4786.6" dur="3.7">mechanism and optical image
stabilization to reduce blur</text><text start="4790.3" dur="3.933">from shaky hands, you get
amazing shots every time like</text><text start="4794.233" dur="3.8">this and this.</text><text start="4798.033" dur="5.933">Pixel 2 also brings you portrait
mode but we're implementing it a</text><text start="4803.966" dur="1.5">little bit differently.</text><text start="4805.466" dur="2.367">We're applying
Google's unmatched computational</text><text start="4807.833" dur="2.366">photography
and machine learning.</text><text start="4810.199" dur="2.667">Portrait mode lets you take
professional looking shots with</text><text start="4812.866" dur="3.533">a blurred background to make
the foreground pop like what you</text><text start="4816.399" dur="2.701">might
capture with an SLR camera.</text><text start="4819.1" dur="2.599">Other smartphones do this
by combining the images from</text><text start="4821.699" dur="1.634">two cameras.</text><text start="4823.333" dur="3.233">Pixel 2 does portrait mode
with just one camera and</text><text start="4826.566" dur="1.534">machine learning.</text><text start="4828.1" dur="3.533">What is unique about Pixel
2 is that it can generate a true</text><text start="4831.633" dur="4.367">depth map with a single lens so
you get beautiful portrait shots</text><text start="4836" dur="3.1">without needing a second camera.</text><text start="4839.1" dur="3.333">The way this works is that the
Pixel 2 camera includes a dual</text><text start="4842.433" dur="1.8">pixel sensor technology.</text><text start="4844.233" dur="3.533">This means that each pixel in
an image contains a right and a</text><text start="4847.766" dur="1.1">left view.</text><text start="4848.866" dur="2.8">The difference in perspective
from those pixels combined with</text><text start="4851.666" dur="3.367">machine learning models trained
on almost a million photos means</text><text start="4855.033" dur="3.433">that this works on
really hard cases like a busy,</text><text start="4858.466" dur="1.6">colorful background.</text><text start="4860.066" dur="4.167">And yes,
this does work with objects too.</text><text start="4864.233" dur="1.8">And there is more.</text><text start="4866.033" dur="2.8">Portrait mode doesn't
just work on the main camera.</text><text start="4868.833" dur="2.3">Because of the quality
of Google's computational</text><text start="4871.133" dur="2.933">photography with a
single camera, you can also take</text><text start="4874.066" dur="4.333">portrait selfies through the
front camera on both the Pixel 2</text><text start="4878.399" dur="1.934">and the Pixel 2 XL.</text><text start="4885.733" dur="2.533">The Pixel
2 takes amazing videos too.</text><text start="4888.266" dur="4.067">We're applying optical image
stabilization simultaneously</text><text start="4892.333" dur="2.833">with video
stabilization at the same time.</text><text start="4895.166" dur="3.134">Other smart
phones do optical or digital.</text><text start="4898.3" dur="3.099">We do - but
don't do both at the same time.</text><text start="4901.399" dur="3.467">During video recording
on a Pixel 2, the OIS hardware</text><text start="4904.866" dur="3.167">actively corrects shake

look smooth and professional.</text><text start="4930.8" dur="3.599">The Pixel 2 camera also supports
a feature called motion photos.</text><text start="4934.399" dur="3.901">The photos you take with your
- for the photos you take, your</text><text start="4938.3" dur="2.533">Pixel captures up to three
seconds of video behind the</text><text start="4940.833" dur="4.233">scenes, removing uninteresting
motion and applying our unique</text><text start="4945.066" dur="4">fused video stabilization

is in the photos and videos.</text><text start="4952.199" dur="3.167">So we invited some photographers
and producers to test drive the</text><text start="4955.366" dur="3">new camera and they were stunned
by what they can do with the</text><text start="4958.366" dur="1.134">Pixel 2.</text><text start="4959.5" dur="4.266">Timmy McGurr, better known as

any image enhancements or</text><text start="4980.233" dur="1.533">color corrections.</text><text start="5063.399" dur="3.101">Again, each photo and video in
what you just saw was shot using</text><text start="5066.5" dur="2.866">only Pixel 2 phones,
no image enhancements or</text><text start="5069.366" dur="1.767">color corrections.</text><text start="5071.133" dur="3.433">Now the Pixel 2's camera is
simple enough and smart enough</text><text start="5074.566" dur="3">that your photos and
videos can look just as good.</text><text start="5077.566" dur="3.167">So the Pixel 2's photo
experience doesn't end when you</text><text start="5080.733" dur="1.6">take a photo or shoot a video.</text><text start="5082.333" dur="2.733">We want users to be able to

one more product to show you.</text><text start="5782.666" dur="2.5">It's about photography.</text><text start="5785.166" dur="4.533">Now we all love photos.</text><text start="5789.699" dur="3.467">A lot of our photos let us step
back into a moment with friends,</text><text start="5793.166" dur="1.733">with family.</text><text start="5794.899" dur="3.134">Some of our favorites are
the candid ones like this, that</text><text start="5798.033" dur="2.666">capture the essence of a moment.</text><text start="5800.699" dur="3.934">But the problem is to get those
photos, someone needs to be the</text><text start="5804.633" dur="4.6">photographer on duty waiting to
press the shutter button at just</text><text start="5809.233" dur="1.733">the right moment.</text><text start="5810.966" dur="3.4">And we were thinking, how
do you capture those fleeting,</text><text start="5814.366" dur="3.467">spontaneous moments while
letting yourself be part of</text><text start="5817.833" dur="1.433">the moment?</text><text start="5819.266" dur="1.534">So we've been working on that.</text><text start="5820.8" dur="4.733">And I am really excited to share
an entirely new type of camera</text><text start="5825.533" dur="1.666">that works with your Pixel.</text><text start="5827.199" dur="2.5">We call it Google Clips.</text><text start="5835.5" dur="2.899">And this first edition
is specifically designed with</text><text start="5838.399" dur="2.534">parents and pet owners in mind.</text><text start="5840.933" dur="4.233">So you'll capture more of those
spontaneous smiles, first steps,</text><text start="5845.166" dur="2.667">and first tricks.</text><text start="5847.833" dur="2.733">Now clips has all of the things
you would expect from a great</text><text start="5850.566" dur="5.133">camera, a high performance
lens, a powerful image sensor.</text><text start="5855.699" dur="1.367">It has a shutter button.</text><text start="5857.066" dur="3.067">But that's not
what this camera is all about.</text><text start="5860.133" dur="3.8">We reimagined this camera from
the inside out, starting with</text><text start="5863.933" dur="3.8">the software and applying
machine learning to build a</text><text start="5867.733" dur="4.2">camera that takes photos for you
so you can enjoy the moment and</text><text start="5871.933" dur="5.167">instantly get
shots you couldn't get before.</text><text start="5877.1" dur="1.066">Thank you.</text><text start="5878.166" dur="1.8">How does all of that work?</text><text start="5879.966" dur="3.867">It starts with an AI engine
at the core of the camera.</text><text start="5883.833" dur="2.533">Let's talk
about what that engine does.</text><text start="5886.366" dur="4.234">When you're behind a camera, you
look for people you care about.</text><text start="5890.6" dur="1.766">You look for smiles.</text><text start="5892.366" dur="3.833">You look for that moment your
dog starts chasing her tail.</text><text start="5896.199" dur="2.7">Clips does all of that for you.</text><text start="5898.899" dur="3.3">Turn it on and it captures
the moment so you can be in</text><text start="5902.199" dur="1.601">the moment.</text><text start="5903.8" dur="2.833">And because the software is
at the core of the camera, it's</text><text start="5906.633" dur="3.133">going to get smarter over time.</text><text start="5909.766" dur="3.667">We also reimagine what camera
hardware should do for you.</text><text start="5913.433" dur="1.067">Clips is tiny.</text><text start="5914.5" dur="2.8">It weighs almost nothing so
you can easily toss it into</text><text start="5917.3" dur="1.599">your pocket.</text><text start="5918.899" dur="3.334">And it's a hands-free camera
so you can get these amazing new</text><text start="5922.233" dur="4.933">perspectives on your experience
and get yourself in the shot by</text><text start="5927.166" dur="4.533">attaching clips to almost
anything or setting it down.</text><text start="5931.699" dur="3.834">Now from the beginning, we
knew privacy and control really</text><text start="5935.533" dur="3.333">matter and we've been thoughtful
about this for Clips users,</text><text start="5938.866" dur="2.533">their family, and their friends.</text><text start="5941.399" dur="1.567">Let's start with the basics.</text><text start="5942.966" dur="3.034">It looks like a camera
and it has an indicator light so</text><text start="5946" dur="2.966">everyone
knows what the device does.</text><text start="5948.966" dur="4.367">Next, it looks for stable, clear
shots of people you know and you</text><text start="5953.333" dur="3.6">help the camera
learn who is important to you.</text><text start="5956.933" dur="4.3">And finally, all of the machine
learning happens on the device</text><text start="5961.233" dur="4.567">itself so just like any point
and shoot, nothing leaves your</text><text start="5965.8" dur="3.466">device until
you decide to save and share it.</text><text start="5969.266" dur="3.633">This approach to designing and
engineering Clips required some</text><text start="5972.899" dur="3.334">significant technical
breakthroughs to miniaturize the</text><text start="5976.233" dur="3.166">type of powerful machine
learning that only a few years</text><text start="5979.399" dur="4">ago needed a super computer.</text><text start="5983.399" dur="4.834">Let's take a look
at what Clips actually captures.</text><text start="5988.233" dur="4.267">So here are some Clips I've
captured with my family at home.</text><text start="5992.5" dur="3">Now as you can see, it's
not just photos that Clips</text><text start="5995.5" dur="1.1">is taking.</text><text start="5996.6" dur="3.799">It's taking little snippets
that capture the whole moment.</text><text start="6000.399" dur="3.667">We call those, of course, Clips.</text><text start="6004.066" dur="4.967">You can save them as a motion
photo or choose any frame to</text><text start="6009.033" dur="3.933">save as a high resolution still.</text><text start="6012.966" dur="2.9">It's like having
my own photographer shooting and</text><text start="6015.866" dur="3.1">choosing
the best moments for me.</text><text start="6018.966" dur="2.9">And I just have to swipe to
save to Google Photos which can</text><text start="6021.866" dur="5.067">automatically make movies
out of your clips in seconds.</text><text start="6026.933" dur="3.766">So that's the new Google Clips,
a new type of camera that brings</text><text start="6030.699" dur="5.5">together the best of Google AI,
software, and hardware to help</text><text start="6036.199" dur="4">people more easily capture
genuine, candid moments of</text><text start="6040.199" dur="3.801">family, friends, and pets.</text><text start="6044" dur="4">Clips will be coming
soon and selling for $249.</text><text start="6048" dur="3.5">Take a look at some of these
great Clips from our earliest</text><text start="6051.5" dur="1.733">users. Enjoy.</text><text start="6067.133" dur="1.333">>> RICK
OSTERLOH: Hello again everyone.</text><text start="6073.199" dur="5.467">What you just saw in Pixel Buds
and Clips blends AI with the</text><text start="6078.666" dur="4.1">best of Google software and high
performance hardware to create</text><text start="6082.766" dur="3.334">new, radically
helpful experiences for users.</text><text start="6086.1" dur="3.466">This is our strategy for the
