God, I miss my son so bad... I'd have done anything to keep you. I'll never forget holding you and finding what real love feels like. And real loss. May God have a special place for you to wait on daddy to come home. Rest in peace Weston Mack Smith, I love you.

This line right here made me change my thoughts on abortions, I swear it did.  "Trying to take away a life, is you God motherfucker?  I don't think so."

Coming from a teen mother, this song hits hard. I used to listen to this song while I was pregnant, and I know other teen moms probably listen to it too. If you're pregnant, whether you are a teenager or not, my son was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. Even when times are hard, when I look at him or when he smiles at me, I forget everything that's going on and he makes me feel safe and okay. I would never regret him and I'm so proud of him and proud of myself for choosing to keep him. There's so many programs out there that can help you if you just looked. There's programs that will help you with diapers, clothing, food, formula, anything you need. We live in 2015 and many people cannot afford their children but still make it with help from all these wonderful programs that we have access to but many people do not know about. In my area, there are daycares that will watch your child for you while you're at school/going to work for free. There's so many programs and people that want you to keep your baby and are willing to help. I'm not saying it is not hard being a mother, because it's the hardest job I've ever had in my life, but it's all so worth it. I love my baby and I'll sacrifice anything for him. Always remember: it is your body, and your baby. No one can force ANYTHING on you. It takes two to make a baby, but only one to kill him/her. Your say is the final decision, and most women regret abortions and usually go through depression after abortions. 98% of couples break up after abortions, while the other 2% is held together by grief. There are women who had one abortion, and was never able to have children again or their future pregnancies ended up in miscarriages. Think twice before you make your final decision and know you are never alone.

To all the guys out there who have ever gotten a girl pregnant...just listen this song over and over again. Can't you feel the heart wrenching pain that this girl is feeling. Dam...you guys will never experience what it feels to have a life growing in you....but to have this life that God gave you stripped away and destroyed is the worst thing that any girl could ever have to face. The reality is...the aftermath of abortion never goes away...you can repress the pain and anguish....you can justify why doing it was the best thing, however deep deep deep inside the memory of this precious life never ever goes away. Yeah...my body is mine and I can do what I want...right? Nah Nah...Abortion isn't right...I know...cuz it's my life that I destroyed...a life I can never get back. Do I cry...hell yeah I do...cuz I did it for him...but what if anything has he done for me? Nothin...I'm all alone...lost and abandoned. So guys next time you feel horny and want to get up in her...remember pregnancy is a real thing that can happen. Be smart cuz in the end...it's not just her child but your child also.

+Nancy Valentina Rose don't just blame the guys. I understand your view on this but at the same time, the girl decided to have sex, and fucked up too, no matter how it happened. All you can do is make your choice and if you do decide to abort, just know that you did it for the right reason, no matter how hard it must have been. But these guys also fucked up, so what are you going to do then buckle down and either have or not have this baby. It's a constantly repeating dilemma in this world.

Some people are prejudice toward rap music, all they hear is curse words and slag. They don't look for the message or even care to, they just come to say their typical "all rap music is about is sex and drugs". They also don't take note that rappers such as J. Cole pour their soul and heart into their music. So it's whatever.

Woooah!!! This J. Cole is a real poet/artist. Where he raps the girl's side of the argument defending her right to have her baby is more convincing than the guys's argument. For a male rapper to own or inhabit a woman's perspective like that is really impressive. Fucking sensational!

Sup cole i know you wont be able to read this but its crazy how you explain this so accurate about the situations im going thru now. But im only 19 and just graduated high school in 2014. I have no job. I cant find a stable job and i live in Philadelphia pa. But now this girl i mess with is pregnant with my child. To be honest she told me she couldnt get pregnant. But now she is and im just confused and lost. My father just recently got locked up and now im having a child. She doesnt know what to do yet. She seem like she want to have my child. "I refuse to bring my girl or boy in this world when i aint got shit to give them" this is the main thought thats goijg thru my mind. "& what about abortion" i feel like imma kill myself if i kill my child. But i dont wanna let my child stuggle the way i am. Idk cole. Im just lost right now and just needed to vent. Even tho you aint there but i just wish you could hear me out. -Tommy S.

+Tommy Siv Hello Tommy, no this is not J Cole, but in my opinion, (if it is not too, late), man I suggest you and your kid's mummy keep that child and tell her you want to keep that child, so she gets less confused herself. Then both of you find a way (a legal one) of working hard and paying to support yourselves and that child. By way of working even if it isn't that much for the time being, you can still provide enough to feed him/her, then the next thing the kid needs is lots of love and attention. Raising a child is harrrrrrrrd work and it is even harder if you are very young yourself, but let me tell you there is nothing more rewarding when you are looking after that kid and it gives you a smile, or he/she smiles when you come home from a hard days work. You think about the things you will be missing out on if you have a child, that is the one priceless thing you would miss out on not having a child. There will be alot of struggle, alot of fights, arguments and so on as like I said it will be very hard work, but life in general is hard work, whether this happened now, or later on, doesn't matter it is hard work, but it is necessary and very rewarding believe me.

You and me both man. I'm beyond inspired by J. Cole and some other musicians/artists and I can only hope that my sound will be as recognized as them if I truly make it. I'm determined to make my dreams come true and I see you are too. Good luck, and subbed. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't, because you can. We all can as long as we set our minds to it.

Even though i haven't had an abortion nor do i have any kids. I always rap the girl part with some much emotion it's like even though i haven't experienced it j.cole tells the story so well it feels like you just know what she's going through. This is the first song i ever heard by cole and this is why i always fw him ✊

This is one of my favorite J cole tracks. However i really would have loved it if he would have made this into a 3 part series. Its clear to me what his stance on abortions is in this song. However In-compasses so many different reasoning's behind "why" or "why not". My 13 yr. old niece was abused by her step dad and ended up becoming pregnant. The sad part is they didn't even find out until she passed out in school one day and the nurse ended up making the discovery of her pregnancy. The bastard ended up getting 5 years....5 FUCKING yrs, of which he only served 3 on "good" conduct. When a young women becomes pregnant as a product of rape, what gives anyone the right to judge her decision to terminate a life that is the product of such heinous act. J cole fails to address the issue from this perspective, though i don't think he really had that in mind when he wrote it. However i feel if you are going to tackle a certain issue (in his case make a song about it), you have to tackle it from all possible angles, otherwise it might come across as disingenuous. Love this track but perhaps because abortion hits home for me, i would have wanted him to do his homework on the issue just a bit more.

Right. And there are so many other situations in which a woman may not want to have a baby. And he should have respected that. Of course this song is just a song not a bible, but I see what you mean. Abortion is the best option for some people. In this song though, it was not for the young woman.

Cole and Kendrick the only ones that rap real not like these people rapping bout how much weed they smoke and how many "bitches" they've fucked. Got 13 year old kids listening to songs bout drugs and gang war, hip Hop is fucked up. Hip hop/rap should be about the story and the meaning. Then pop music is made to make teenage girls feel self conscious, they should listen to Crooked Smile. A song that makes you take pride in your faults and not worry about them. The music industry is messed up right now. Thank God for J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar for real music.

I feel as if even tho you may be young there is no excuse for abortion... Whether or not you choose that route is your decision and don't let anyone change that but humans should be mature enough to man up to their consequences and step up and give the child the best life possible... They have hearts and souls too and even if times get rough at the end of the road they are a blessing .. Everything happens for a reason and god put that beautiful baby on this earth for a reason so cherish it!

Now about its not the same as killing the gingery comments The baby wouldn't have a good life (nor do the hungry) It's too much on me (well less money spent on the starving people and more food and land to go around) My point is abortion isn't a good thing and when feminazis deem at as a good thing it pisses me the fuck off if you absolutely haft to than whatever it's your choice but adoption in my mind is a much better alternative

This song reminds me of my sister but the only difference is that even though she wants full custody of her child, she is very manipulative for the wrong reasons. I can only hope that things get better and in the upper hand of the biological father and for my nephew to be happy. My sister, well, it just sucks and feel sorry for the way she is.

To think that this happens to be one of the songs Cole cooked up on a beat machine in his dorm room at St. John's University. This song and "Lights Please" happened to be two of the most powerful songs he had ever written and produced in his own opinion. Cole is the perfect example to prove that dreams really do come true. If you sacrifice enough and have enough hard work to show for your ambitions you can make it. This song is still so powerful. I'll always be a supporter, a DreamVillian.

Good song about real life issues. but makes me wonder did jcole ask one of his girlfriends to get an abortion? I didnt know jcole was half white either but hes talented and I like that he raps about REAL issues and not cars, money and hos like most rappers do. The world needs more positive music and this one is one of them. I never been in this situation but I think its wrong to have an abortion because if you werent ready to have a kid you shouldnt have unprotected sex period. I mean you should only have sex with someone you care about especially unprotected sex.
