Why is everybody making such a big deal over what he DIDN'T play? This was a delight.

+Rebornblader It was very entertaining and i absolutely loved it! BUT alot of songs were not rock n roll.
Report spam or abuse
+Crazyman Motovlogs A lot of "Rock N Roll" is pretty subjective, given how diverse rock has become over the years.

Purple Haze?.. that's all for Hendrix?! And No stairway to heaven?!!?! :-O

Report spam or abuse
+Sigrafix Okay, pay attention to the tittle: Riffs. First of all, I believe Purple Haze is enough for Hendrix, since he changed music due to his playing, not to his songs. And second, the intro of Stairway to Heaven is an intro, just and inro, and not a riff. A riff is a musical phrase that it repeated all over the song, wich is not the case of Stairway to Heaven. Anyway, despite I miss some riffs such as Whole Lotta Love, this is a great (and such inspiring video).

I really wish i could get a guitar and start learning some of these songs but sadly im broke and cant afford a guitar, amp, anything.
Report spam or abuse
That's what I though but my friend gave me his guitar and an amp with a lead and case for $60
Report spam or abuse
I just bought a guitar for 350 pesos which is like ,i don't know, 40 bucks and it works like a charm .Good luck with your training.

Those riffs are way better than atleast 40 of the riffs he included in the video!!

Great video. He covers the 2000s in a fraction of the time he spent on the 90s, 80s and 70s. Shows how shitty music has become.

+I really dont care. The 2000's are over dude. We are more than halfway through the 2010's!

Ok, this is amazing. This video affirms my belief that music requires real talent, not just a computer. I knew all but 5 of these, and most of them rank as favorites of mine. Give it an honest listen on quality speakers.

Purple Haze was #13, right after Satisfaction...

missed that, I can play about 10-15 of those fairly well, only the last few in the 90's that I had never heard...

Sex Pistols, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, The Clash, Iron Maiden, Misfits, Minor Threat, MC5 are left out but you put fucking 2 Green Day songs, 2 Guns n' Roses songs and a CAKE song in your montage? You need to get your priorities straight. Anyway, you played what you picked well, good job.

Can someone define 'Riff'?
Report spam or abuse
All of these are riffs. I'd say it's what defines a song as much as the lyrics, if not more. Think of a popular song like any of these and humm it to yourself, whatever you are humming is most likely a guitar riff.
Report spam or abuse
A riff is a recognizable rhythm or melody of a song.

Wow. Just...wow. My mouth was agape the entire time. Gave me chills! Rock n roll, man!!

I hate my generations music. I'm 4 years old and all there is is Barney and it really sucks I wish more music was like this, because it's not like I have unlimited access to it right?

I don't mean to complain about what he didn't play. It's a great video and he's got some major skill. Well worth 12 minutes. I was just looking forward to some Def Lep.

That was nice collection. How about making a list of the same music now in the youtube to immediately play after these riffs.

The amount of people who don't know the meaning of "riff" is surprising.

It is interesting that as time passed on those covers, they would get more simpler/less interesting. I am really not the nostalgic type, but got to give to the bands in early decades: they had some really sweet songs!

Im new to like the electric guitar since ive played the acoustic for so long and i am so lost on how he made such hard rock sounds without changing the turning, is he using a pad system ( idk what those things that change the sound of the guitar are called sorry ) is it the tone he changes or what cuz im lost and i mean i have a fender hss strat affinity series which is the same brand of guitar so is it the tone or a pad system or the type of guitar or tuning that i have to change??

You can't just make a video its name includes the words "rock n roll" and B.B King , Robert Johnson( and probably more kind of these artists I didn't mention ) wouldn't show there
Report spam or abuse
I always thought they were considered to be more blues than anything else, maybe I was wrong though anyway they're both fantastic

That's part of the Internet. Most of the time it's a parent that thinks the internet is a waste of time and the kids should do nothing but stay in school and go outside. Or it's a kid that's forced to unsubscribe because of their parents, or they just don't know the music they should be listening to.

This list is a sham! Not one Metallica rift, seriously?!
Report spam or abuse
+Analytical Associates I personally would have picked a different riff for Metallica, but being that was the first song to be released for the black album. I can see why it is on the list. The Beatles are simply the best. I love all genres of music.
Report spam or abuse
Cool! Thanks for your thoughts!
Report spam or abuse
Can anyone explain what that thing is he's wearing on his ring finger for certain riffs.
Report spam or abuse
Its called a guitar slide and its used to create a different tone. U can get one at a music shop and theyre not that expensive

Well, exactly waht music is not about in my opinion and especially rock and roll. 100 guitar riffs, without soul. But good job anyway, very good  excellent technique! Maybe someday you'll be able to play the guitar.
Report spam or abuse
+withnaturalflavors Oh just ignore him. He just thinks he's allowed to judge other people on something he thinks he's an expert in. This is the internet, so obviously he msut be the worlds best guitarist.
Report spam or abuse
+D.J. Ryals  no not at all, I'm sorry I didnt want to be rude or judge,  obviously like I said this guitarist is an expert monkey and practised a lot to achieve this video. He is the expert , I'm not, I just wanted to share my opinion on rock and roll since it says history of rock. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings, that wasnt the point. I wanted to say, he didnt groove, he was sitting on a chair not shaking his head.... he imitated 100 riffs perfectly but that isnt music. I'm also a guitarist, (I would say a terrible one) but I play with my heart  lol ! Dont take this seriously , i,m probly just jealous or something. Fucking internet just ignore me , that's right :p  If you read carefully, you will notice I compliment his skillz also.
Report spam or abuse
What guitar is that and which cable and amp did you use??
Report spam or abuse
Squier affinity strats are a great starting guitar! I'd definitely go for that (especially with amp included)
