He should've thrown in love me two times. Or light my fire solo

Why is everybody making such a big deal over what he DIDN'T play? This was a delight.

Purple Haze?.. that's all for Hendrix?! And No stairway to heaven?!!?! :-O

And only one of Slash's riffs

+Sigrafix Stairway was Led Zep's big hit but there are other Zep songs, also Stairway isn't even that good, it's overhyped imo

I really wish i could get a guitar and start learning some of these songs but sadly im broke and cant afford a guitar, amp, anything.

oh yeah you're right. still iconic though

What no, Radiohead, Kinks...........................

+Seasoned Duck You're out of the band. Pack your stuff and leave.

+Nick H. well he could've played radiohead and arctic monkeys had he not had a boner for like 5 jack white songs
Report spam or abuse
Great video. He covers the 2000s in a fraction of the time he spent on the 90s, 80s and 70s. Shows how shitty music has become.
Report spam or abuse
+HabsFan123 blink 182, foo fighters, avenged sevenfold, radiohead even though they were better in the 90s they still had some good songs in the 2000s, my chemical romance, fall out boy, green day, white stripes, muse, the killers, arctic monkeys, red hot chili peppers, system of a down, paramore, queens of the stone age
Report spam or abuse
+HabsFan123 even then 1/5th of this video was 2000-2010. 2010's aren't even over yet, and they left out a ton of excellent bands. So if anything, 80's and 90's were lacking. Guitar hadn't gone downhill, you just aren't looking for good guitar. People like you look at bands like fall out boy, and go "Yep, guitar is ruined! This is all guitar is now!".

Ok, this is amazing. This video affirms my belief that music requires real talent, not just a computer. I knew all but 5 of these, and most of them rank as favorites of mine. Give it an honest listen on quality speakers.

Purple Haze was #13, right after Satisfaction...
Report spam or abuse
missed that, I can play about 10-15 of those fairly well, only the last few in the 90's that I had never heard...

What is the strumming technique for pride and joy? I can't find it anywhere...

Call me immature, but Enter Sandman by Metallica is at 69

Report spam or abuse
+GrakAttack Fun fact: Metallica had playboy pictures surrounding them in studio when Enter Sandman was being made.
Report spam or abuse
What guitar is that? I'm fixing to get one and I have taken a fancy to this one
Report spam or abuse
Its a Fender Stratocaster painted with a sunset color/tinge
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
surprised that "Fuel" by Metallica didn't make the list. but hey, enter sandman is just as good, maybe even better.
Report spam or abuse
its about... drinking gasoline or some shit.
Report spam or abuse
I know it's not your fault but is it just me who thinks layla isn't full enough between the two songs But any way brilliant
Report spam or abuse
ONLY one fatal floor. No Radiohead.
Report spam or abuse
I reckon he could've done Just, Electioneering or Bodysnatchers in this video

+panic!atthefallingchemicals Fall out boy is gay, look at what there name used to be. And they stole from tons of bands, and can not be classified as rock like people think it is.

So proud to be a jack white fan :') So many iconic riffs! Even if they are relatively easy to play
Report spam or abuse
I'm learning how to play guitar and enjoy how with a little special effects, he made it sound hard, but I think Seven nation army is somewhat easy.
Report spam or abuse
Yeah seven nation army, lazaretto were gonna be friends, all pretty easy. I loved learning them
Report spam or abuse
omg where the fuck is VOODOO CHILE ???!!,?.??. OMG

In South America, I think.
Report spam or abuse
Its probably coz i would have takin too long to set up the distortion

Can someone define 'Riff'?
Report spam or abuse
All of these are riffs. I'd say it's what defines a song as much as the lyrics, if not more. Think of a popular song like any of these and humm it to yourself, whatever you are humming is most likely a guitar riff.
Report spam or abuse
A riff is a recognizable rhythm or melody of a song.

Wow, I know 18 of these songs... You did a GREAT job, man, I mean, though I only know a few of the originals. I missed the Kinks, anything like You really got me would have been great. I don't like the fact, that I cannot play the guitar, only a few chords, but not worth talking about. I think I'm gonna buy an electronic ukulele (yeah, I can play the ukulele) and try to rock to, but that's not the same;(

Grunge marked the death of rock and roll.
Report spam or abuse
Sex Pistols, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, The Clash, Iron Maiden, Misfits, Minor Threat, MC5 are left out but you put fucking 2 Green Day songs, 2 Guns n' Roses songs and a CAKE song in your montage? You need to get your priorities straight. Anyway, you played what you picked well, good job.

I KNOW, ELVIS IS THE KING OF ROCK AND FUCKING ROLL

this is a shit place to come to if you just got your first guitar yesterday

You can't just make a video its name includes the words "rock n roll" and B.B King , Robert Johnson( and probably more kind of these artists I didn't mention ) wouldn't show there
Report spam or abuse
I always thought they were considered to be more blues than anything else, maybe I was wrong though anyway they're both fantastic

What guitar is that and which cable and amp did you use??
Report spam or abuse
Squier affinity strats are a great starting guitar! I'd definitely go for that (especially with amp included)
Report spam or abuse
Can anyone explain what that thing is he's wearing on his ring finger for certain riffs.
Report spam or abuse
Its called a guitar slide and its used to create a different tone. U can get one at a music shop and theyre not that expensive

Why is there no Megadeth?
Report spam or abuse
+Wurdox It's thrash. I don't know why he put a Metallica song in there though. It could also be because he couldn't play that fast. ;)
Report spam or abuse
That's amazing!! :D
Report spam or abuse
Does anyone know the pedal he was using for Purple Haze, etc.?

I hate my generations music. I'm 4 years old and all there is is Barney and it really sucks I wish more music was like this, because it's not like I have unlimited access to it right?

Well, exactly waht music is not about in my opinion and especially rock and roll. 100 guitar riffs, without soul. But good job anyway, very good  excellent technique! Maybe someday you'll be able to play the guitar.

talent ...talent.....talent
Report spam or abuse
Can somebody please tell me, what is the function of the green thing that in some riffs he putted in his hand.
Report spam or abuse
I'm pretty sure its called a slide
Report spam or abuse
It feels like, Guitar Hero... Nice job BTW... :)
Report spam or abuse
What's that green thing on ur finger? I'm learning how to play guitar so do I need one?
Report spam or abuse
If it's a chronological history, then why include covers that were recorded decades after the original riffs became so popular? Pictures of Matchstick Men for example.. and while I appreciate Oh Well being there, Peter Green's Black Magic Woman was so much more memorable than Santana's cover. Riff wise.

That aside, nice list. Hopefully introduces some great classics to those that recognise them but have never known who they were by.

That's part of the Internet. Most of the time it's a parent that thinks the internet is a waste of time and the kids should do nothing but stay in school and go outside. Or it's a kid that's forced to unsubscribe because of their parents, or they just don't know the music they should be listening to.

What is that thing he puts on his hand on #67 7:40

+lightningfox97 That's called a slide. It's a technique used to get an effect on sliding or to change where the position of the nut is, similar to a capo.

Im new to like the electric guitar since ive played the acoustic for so long and i am so lost on how he made such hard rock sounds without changing the turning, is he using a pad system ( idk what those things that change the sound of the guitar are called sorry ) is it the tone he changes or what cuz im lost and i mean i have a fender hss strat affinity series which is the same brand of guitar so is it the tone or a pad system or the type of guitar or tuning that i have to change??
