Judging by the number of people who have trouble pronouncing French*, can you be surprised that so many misspell it? * Shirley Verrett is not one of them.

@dacor31 It means, more or less, so madly in love that he can't remember his own name. In Italian we say "innamorato cotto"! Ciao! :-))

As in everything she sings, I can understand every single word perfectly.

One of the greatest opera singers of all time and wonderful actress , certainly one of , if not the greatest Dalila . I first heard her many years ago . My young wife and I had just bought our first television , that evening there was a profile of Shirley Verrett from the BBC . Amazing , I have been a fan ever since . I have the full VHS recording of the Covent Garden production with Jon Vickers , which I don't believe has been equaled .

verrett was the ultimate dalilah. who else looked like such a dangerous beauty? denyce graves came close but she had no voice to speak of... who's the bass? and what is the meaning of "coton?" i understand french a bit but it seems to be some slang i haven't heard of.

The aria is called "Printemps qui commence". The word "primtens" does not exist in French. It the spelling really that difficult???

I agree that Verrett's voice is utterly sensual to the highest.
