A wonderful, nostalgic tribute to Captain & Tennille. The music and pictures brought back so many memories...  I also had a fan club card, and I signed it in cursive. : )

Now don't forget (according to some people), if you're a male and like the Captain and Tenille, then you're probably GAY!  Now don't go shooting the messenger.  This is something I heard ages ago.

The Captain had a nice chest! Who knew?

She always has really loved him.  The only reason they are divorcing is for health insurance reasons.

John Travolta also did this song. although this version is pretty good, I like his better cause it's more upbeat and funkier with more keyboards.

I Actually thought Toni was black back in the 70's (before I had bought some of their albums), the way she can belt out songs like Shop Around. Haven't heard this one since the early 80's. For a long time you couldn't get a lot of their albums. I have a CD compilation, but need to get "Come In from the Rain" and their "Dream" album on CD.

Why is this song not on any of their compilations?  I just now heard this song for the first time via the internet radio.  OMG.  This is damned good.  Her voice is just so sensual and the song has just enough funk in it.  WOW!  Wish I could download this for my computer listening pleasure.

Is there any singer or group that hasn't done this song?
Report spam or abuse
You said it.  It was written by Alan O'Day (Undercover Angel, Angie Baby, Rock N Roll Heaven) and has been recorded by over 50 artists, but never made it to the singes charts for any of them IIRC.  That means that it was a "musician's song," not a "popular" one.

There tunes are always in my head. They are simply the best.

Sneaky freaky! Song voted Most Likely to Get You Impregnated.

I think Tennille over-smiled so much that it made up for his blank face

My boss needs to hear this one. He's one of the most uptight and cranky person in the world! He has to sit down and relax to this one. LOL

They look good together. You can tell they're happily married by the way she looks at him, and she's always smiling in the pictures. Tennille is very pretty, and she's got that sweet smile. In her most recent pictures in this video, she still looks good, and the Captain too. They haven't changed much.

@gypsyqueen1964 Daryl has always suffered from a congenital defect that makes him look like a deer in headlights when he's photographed. This is why he wears sunglasses for so many of his pix.

Reminds me of this hot hairy guy I like!!!

hubba hubba ....you look good too Toni

Don't think I had heard this song before. Thank you for posting.

I heard this song year's ago on Sylvia's album "Pillow Talk." This version is way better though. Just goes to show how underrated Darryl Dragon's producing skills were. Sylvia was a great songwriter/producer but this is way better.

I just checked "Angie Baby" in YT. It sounds pretty cool. I hear the slight resemblance to this song.

John Kay Of Sreppenwolf did this on "My Sportin` Life" around 1973; written by Alan O`day I think...

I agree with you 120% about Toni's voice. She has a nice, soothing voice that just warms my heart!

No they don't. My friend read in People Magazine in 1975 that they weren't into having kids because they wanted a music career. They were just looking forward to being Aunt Toni and Uncle Daryl to all their nieces and nephews. If they did have kids, they would have made good, loving parents.

Peggy Lee's version is superfunky. Check it out on iTunes.

My first exposure to this song was by Tony Orlando and Dawn. I don't think they ever released it as a single, either. Pity, as it's a great song, and Tennile does a great job with it here.

This was one of C&T's very best & should've been the the third single released fro "Come In From The Rain" (after"Can't Stop Dancin'" and the title song. Instead, they released "Circles". You decide which would've been more commercially successful.

Toni's a lucky lady; Daryl Dragon was so handsome back in the day.

"So Chinese a Evil...such a sin chew he see..." Yeah, I was so dumb back then. What a gerat band. I was just a kid, but I loved looking at the pics on the albums. What a better time to live in.

Do you happen to know if they have any kids and if they're following their parents' footsteps?

That's great! It's rare for celebrity couples to stay that long nowadays, I find.

I hope this comment goes through. It says here an error has occurred on my Youtube account. I'm trying again. Which album is "Clean Up Woman" in? A beautiful voice like that butchering a song? They're probably just jealous that they can't sing as well as Toni. That's what I think.

A great song, with a sensational performance from Toni. First rate!

Nice story, I still can not belive that I did not go see C. & T. perform. I lived in Vancouver at the time, must of been 5-6 times in Las-Vegas. Big mistake. They are so great.

Thanks for posting....I've wanted to hear this track again for the past ten years!!

That's too bad. At least they're still happily married, and that's good.

She has that certain face that any haircut suits her, don't you think?

I think this is on the "Come In From The Rain" album. Seriously, this is probably my favorite song!!!!!!! I haven't heard it in forever. Sadly, it's never played anywhere, so I appreciate your uploading this very much!

My dad said "Easy Evil" and "Sad Eyes" were his two favorite songs; well, those plus the song you used to end your TV show with. ^__^

You're right. I agree with you every step of the way!

One of C&T's very best songs (and probably their sexiest to that date), courtesy of Daryl's genius. A&M didn't release many of C&T's best songs as singles, choosing instead some truly banal stuff. Perfect example: instead of releasing this sizzler as the third single from "Come In From the Rain" (the first two being "Can't Stop Dancin'" & their excruciatingly beautiful arrangement of the title track), A&M released the incredibly bland "Circles", which didn't even graze the Billboard Hot 100.

"Easy Evil" is easily one of my favorite Captain and Tennille songs. It's from the CD "Come In From The Rain". Also check out their "Make Your Move" CD...simply amazing.

SmokeHouse Blues without them after all these years.

Thank you so much for clearing that up. Daryl has such beautiful eyes, I am thankful to know for sure he isn't blind, and can see his beautiful Toni, and her smile. They have been, and continue to be such a blessing to so many. Peace and Many Blessings tennille1998

Enjoyed the video...quite a collection of pictures. Good job.

Thanks, Ron. That was awesome. I always loved how Toni only had eyes for her Daryl - you could see how much they loved one another, and are still together after over 30 years.
Report spam or abuse
you know, toni has some nice feets in this. 30 years ago i'd love to sniff and sucvk her toes after a long day. i have a fetish. she was hot

I used to think Darryl couldn't talk because he would just sit there and say nothing she'd do all the talking

It's like two different people. Off work, he's really cool. Once he starts, he becomes the opposite. He does say "hi." Must be just the job. He's weird. I sent you a message in your inbox about your replies from "Love Will Keep Us Together." I can't seem to find it. I don't know what happened to it. This is the first time that I lost someone's replies! Are they still together? The captain and Tenille? Someone replied to me that the Captain had some issues.

Great song, never heard it before...Toni Tenille's voice is near perfection. And stop the video around the 2:45 mark...what fantastic legs!!! lol :)

Great video, and I've always loved the song. Lots of great photos and clips. Kudos!!

Wow, this song sounds so sleazy! I didn't know that C&T put out such devil music!

God she sounds so sensual & sexy in this song...

damn, in some of those she looks like charlize theron . . . that wacky voice in the middle kinda gives me the creeps . . shiver.

You know what, I must be having fun at work today because for some reason, I seem to be having this song in my head all day long! I tried to come up with another song. But I couldn't. I felt relaxed, and at the same time, productive due to this song. Even other people noticed that too! So, that's the remedy to enjoy work. Have this song run around in my head all day long. It's funny!

This is super awesome - I used to have a C&T scrapbook and I remember so many of these pics - especially those from the People article - thanks for doing this!

Her voice is so smooth and sexy, it's great to play this one on a romantic dinner at home. Her voice is so soft to the eardrums, unlike some screechy female artists nowadays. A lot of female artists are not really not that good.

I saw it on YT just now. I heard it before when I was very young. Now I know it was her who sang it. It's a sweet song. Did you ever notice that she sounds black? She's got that big, smooth, soulful voice. It's beautiful! That's why I grew up thinking the song "Love Will Keep Us Together" was sang by a black woman. So far, I like all the songs I hear from them here in YT.

Ms.Tennille looks sexy in that red, floral print sarong and that pink towel that she sports sarong style in the steam bath with her husband "Capt.Darryll" Dragon.

Album covers and inserts. It was so much fun pouring over them back in the day. Thanks for the blast from the past.

Why is Lawnmaster talking garbage about the Captain? Is he even a fan at all? If you don't mind me prying about the "Toenail" guy? I think he's just typing that to see who would take a bite and get irritated. Some people do that you know, just to spite someone. Just ignore him. He's been playing a game with you, I think.
Report spam or abuse
i think the charm of that union was not their talent but that subtle "sexy girl seducing the quiet guy" schtick.

Calm down. Just my opinion. Glad to hear things are fine with them. My life kinda sucks right now. Just "assumed". I've been married 25yrs. Sometimes when you think you know where your life is going, you get blindsided. Sorry. Enjoy the tunes.

The Captain's lucky, too. Toni Tennille was pretty good looking herself. I was only six when "Love Will Keep Us Together" came out, but I can remember thinking she was very pretty. I don't know if she was the catalyst of my love of leggy women with overbites, or just an early example, but either way, she was hot stuff.

John Travolta also did this song on his 2nd album in 1977.

Yeah! The Lulu version is nice, too -- and some other ones on Spotify: John Travolta and Peggy Lee also pretty good.

Thanks a bunch. I seem to keep on going back in the past with music. I can't move forward. The songs today don't interest me as much as the oldies. I'm stuck in the past!

It would be an excellent song for Argentine Tango.
