Which AA Battery Last the Longest?

by KimuraOhana • 31,474 views

Bryson Kimura's Science Project to determine which AA battery lasts the longest with 5 identical flashlights. Please keep in mind this is a simple 4th grade science project, not an elaborate...

im doing the same project and I voted for Energizer batteries as best!!! I liked your test but I need to learn how to film it as good as you did.

It keeps going... and going...

heavy duty sucks. cheap ass batteries...

could it be that the other variable is the bad bulb in certain flashlights? im not defending the other batteries but rayovac is very powerful and it just surprised me when it didnt dim down it just disappeared

There are some major factors that are being over looked here. First you need to make sure that all the batteries have the same freshness(ie.. same manufacture date). You also need to understand that the Heavy duty is not the same type of battery as the other brands, Heavy duty batteries are usually Carbon Zinc or Zinc Chloride. Carbon Zinc/Zinc Chloride batteries are a lower chemistry than Alkaline and never will perform as well as an Alkaline battery. Other than those two factors great video!

so what exactly is the control in this video experiment , I know you used the same flashlight brand which you prob went to the dollar store to buy. Here's my problem with this experiment these flashlights obviously deviate in materials lens thickness , metal , including the contacts. Those flashlights although looking very similar could be very different , infact the reason why they ended up in the dollar store in the first place .

I always thought kirklands kind of sucked but I was wroooong.

I am doing something similar to this project for school and was wondering the out so i searched some videos and it turns out my prediction was correct energizer is the best

@KIKOSUAVE The only concern here is the voltage rating of the bulbs and how long those batteries can make those bulbs stay lit. The other crap you mentioned is irrelevant and questioning the electrical contact points is like questioning the quality of the battery itself. You moron! Think before you speak!

6 people suck..Great job on this video thank you

Duracell ultra advanced. Done. I watched a video similar to this that had the Coppertop against the Energizer lithium and the Duracell won by more than 12 hours. Ultra advanced is ridiculous. Those batteries are so strong. The Coppertop in that video beat the Energizer max as well. Duracell for me. Each to there own.

@PlainzRyder thx for tellin me lol send um for 10 bucks just buy some durcell prob solved. lol is rayovack the one with don cherry?? i think i have seen them

I think this is Energizer Commercial

I knew it was going to be either duracell or energizer.

You should tried a SANYO ENELOOP Too. Because ENERGIZER has no Stronger Opponent only ENELOOP.. If doubts see the most battery v.s in youtube, yahooanswers, and googles soo youll know easily this 2batteries where highly competiting each other

There is more than one type of Duracell battery. the best ones are second to none.

if you watch carefully at 00:10 energizers' main body is a little taller than the rest of the batteries while heavy duty is the shorter, maybe that the reason of the results? more space for 'juice'?

Duracell lasted longer in my project

There could be dozens of other variables for this test but its a science project, not a complete research and development analysis.

@Blitz4000 I find it funny and curious that the same experiment done multiple times have different results. But Blitz4000 seems to know the voltage of the batteries & voltage rating of the bulbs, the composition of the flashlights and batteries . He must work for the heavy duty brand. Prove me wrong, then talk , two comments down duracell lasted longer for @zmubi. Speak when spoken to.

I just bought Duracell AA for my mouse-I play Company of Heroes and need long lasting batteries. I went through 10 pound store AAs in a month. I attribute all my COH losses to AA failure and having taken an arrow in the knee on my way to buy the batteries. Does anyone have a similar story?

Great job.... and great patience! :-)

Not an excellent test...because some batteries are made to last longer(use less power) and some are to use more power(last longer).

Totally agree although finding NiMH that are worth buying and not dodgy Chinese made crap is very hard. So far Maxuss 3000mAh have been brilliant for me though.

ironically heavy duty was the first one to die. hahaha

I was thinking rayovac but nope it was energizer

do another series of tests with different discharge rates and do several trials

I think it's safe to say Heavy Duty is just as its title proclaims: a heavy piece of doodie.

Which ones should I get for my beats by dre studios? Plz respond

I always put Duracell Ultra Power batteries in my Led Lenser M14X. Works great, gives lots of light and lasts long!

screaming face in the light as the energizer dies.

Kirkland is made by Duracell, and the heavy dutys seem to have about as much intensity as the song "Heavy Duty" by the band Spinal Tap.

bcuz i drained the heavy duty thats why its like that

my test panasonic lasted the longest!

who cares about the batteries whats the name of this song

Holy smokes, the Kirklands did pretty dam good. Did you buy all those batteries at the same time? Results may be different depending who the suppliers are for the Kirklands. Who knows, the AA Kirklands used to be relabeled Duracells but I heard rumors they changed suppliers. Both are made in the US. All I have for comparison are the AAA kirklands and duracells and they look different looking at the positive and negative side of the batts.

Those Kirkland batteries are very good value for money from Costco (I go to one in the UK). They come in packs of 48 if I remember correctly.

Prolly rigged it for energizer to win haha I'll bet he left the duracell light on for an hour befor starting lol

Wish it was so we could make some endorsement money!

and the bunny wins again - assuming Bryson checked to see if all the bulbs were still working?

The best way to really test this project is after the first results u should try it a few more times except each time you try it again change the brand of battery to the flash lights ...example ... If u use energizer battery on the flash light that is all the way to the right on the next test try the same flash light with a duracell brand then see if results change do the same test just changing battery brands hope this helps anybody

I guess Heavy Duty is several times cheaper than Energizer batteries. Did you calculate price of 1 hour working for different battery brands?

Energizer is Longest Battery!!!! but in thailand is most using Panasonic Evolta.

The Energizer Industrial batteries are really good batteries but I don't think you will find them at Walmart or other stores.I would like to see how long they lasted in your test.Good video though. But the carbon zinc batteries will never last as long as any alkaline.Did all of these batteries have a fresh date on them?Just curious.
Report spam or abuse
@KIKOSUAVE Well, if you're smart enough, which I highly doubt...you would know that the conditions on how the batteries were stored, handled, and the freshness will have an effect on its performance. Overall, the battery brand that can last longer on average compared to others can be concluded to be more superior. Energizer and Duracell in this case. I suggest you quit trying to look smart, it is really pathetic.

silly kid, those arent flash lights

I always use Energizer Ultimate Lithium. Normal energizer max batteries last long in my Xbox controller, but the Ultimate Lithium last level longer.
