+ShitYouSee -  Sales, I don't care. I base myself on the technique, the flow and that each in brought to the movement Hip-hop. EM is a big and I say not that just for its sales. But those whom I quoted are stronger for me. It is because the opinion(notice) of small French.

Not 'old school'. Old school really is hip hop from the early 80's, those mentioned are all 'new school'.

+Hello my name is that's not a fact lol. Big L has better flow than Biggie in my opinion. Biggie is overrated and to me, his only good album was Life After Death (disc 1. Disc 2 is absolutely shit)

Report spam or abuse
Not even a mention of k mack, shrlock, AZ, pharcyde nor Jurassic 5.... Wtf
Report spam or abuse
Big L > Biggie.  Just my opinion. I love both though. No hate.
Report spam or abuse
Sadly, Big L never got the chance to influence music as much as Biggie..  If L had lived on throughout the 90s/2k's then WHO KNOWS where the music industry would be today... We NEED more real n*ggs like this with raw lyrical talent

in my cell, thinkin, "Hell, I know one day I'll be back"  As soon as I touch down  I told my girl I'll be there, so prepare, to get fucked down  The homies wanna kick it, but I'm just laughin at cha  Cause youse a down ass bitch, and I ain't mad at cha

Father forgive us for livin while all my homies stuck in prison Barely breathin believin that the world is a prison It's like a ghetto we can never leave A broken rose givin bloom through the cracks of the concrete So many other things for us to see Things to be, our history so full of tragedy and misery To all my homies never made it home The dead peers I shed tattoo tears for, when I'm alone Picture us inside a ghetto heaven, a place to rest Findin peace through this land of stress In my chest I feel pain comin sudden storms Life full of rain in this game watch for lead thorns Our unborn never got to grow, never got to see what's next In this world full of countless threats I beg God, to make a way for our ghetto kids to breathe Show a sign, make us all believe Cause I ain't mad at cha

wow.. people comparing artists... like if every artist is trying to say what the other is trying to say... just listen to the music and lyrics and appreciate where they come from. That's all music is supposed to be, trying to express who and where you come from. The only way an artist can be better than another is if one cant sing or rap in time, cant be in pitch, or cant say what he/she is trying to say (I guess). but big L cant be better than tupac, for example, they both get their point across perfectly and paint a very vivid picture for the listener. Comparing and judging who is better is only destroying your own ability to even try what they do. Try writing lyrics for yourselves , you will find it hard (to the majority) and you will see why they are really good lyricists.

goddamn its ridiculous how every rap video is covered in comments about how hip hop used to be so much better and how shitty it is today. Guess what, hip hop has evolved. Ya hip hop was super dope in the 90's and it went through its greatest times with Pac, Biggie, Young Nas, etc. But hip hop is still dope. It's different; its evolved, but its still dope. People say that todays rappers only talk about bitches and drugs or something like that.  If you say this u suck at life. Before saying some shit about how eminem is the only good rapper today, why don't you listen to all the hip hop artists out there. I get the feeling that the only artists these amateurs have heard are wiz kalifa, lil wayne, drake and young jeezy (not saying these rappers aren't dope because they are in there own right). But if thats the case then just listen to hip hop and stop commenting cuz you know nothing and you suck. There are hundreds of artists out there that respect hip hop and do it right, you just haven't heard em.  And the other part of my rant is that hip hop has always been up on bitches and drugs, it is a certain type of rapper that talks about that stuff and sometimes its fun to just sit back and listen to a rapper brag about how dope he is, that is part of the game. Doesn't mean you have to idolize the rapper and do what he says, but its just part of the game, and its always been like that, get over it. hahah k peace out

A lot of hip-hop's pioneers and golden era and old school emcees took part in creating a book series about the science of emceeing, titles are: HOW TO RAP and the follow-up, HOW TO RAP 2. Everybody from Public Enemy to Mobb Deep, Pharcyde, Tribe, Cypress Hill, and plenty more all were interviewed in those two books.
