Did you know that the first note is actually on beat 4 ??? I didn't realize that for YEARS and thought it was this crazy time signature , or a turn around trick…but it's just good old beat 4.    1 2 3 FOUR ONE 2 3 FOUR AND ONE AND

@SloppyGoat well mabye your right, but hendrix still rules
Report spam or abuse

Report spam or abuse
Ooh... I guess someone's in love! 0:05. she looks love-struck, Steve is a ladies man, I knew it.

@Fluffypopcicle you know that hendrix was named pop musician of the year in 1967-1968 right- by Melody Maker magazine?

If you don't understand the lyrics, smoke a shit load of pot. Jimi was off his face all the time.

God takes guitar lessons from Steve Vai. Jesus has everything that Steve Vai's ever released. Buddha has a Steve Vai signed Ibanez Gem. Shiva once had a beer with Steve Vai. The Devil and Steve Vai once split a plate of nachos at the bowling alley. And Xerxes bows down to Steve Vai.

no one can play this like hendrix , sorry...
Report spam or abuse
steve ....JIMI is GOD of guitar...he had no pop...
Report spam or abuse
@konshess So Steve Vai is an average guitarrist?! It's OK not to like the cover, but to call him average that is what it's really funny!
Report spam or abuse
@LSD0Moon So we can say too that No one can play sgt peppers like the beatles or all along the watchover like the rolling stones or wathever.... and Hendrix make covers of these songs at his individual style¡¡¡!!! Hendrix is the best but not the only one...

@09088908 when you can make such amazing sounds through guitar, and send messages far beyond words with sounds alone, who needs words?
Report spam or abuse
@DimebagFarrell look at the bright side man at least you're not the guy who put the Littlewing video up. That ones much worse.
Report spam or abuse
im gonna get flamed but for this but this sounds better than the original.... by like a 100 %

Steve VAI Is not only the best guitar player and be so humble

This is absolutely awful. Worst Hendrix cover I have ever heard. And up there with worst music I have ever heard. I do like one song from this concert though. I also respect mr vai for his phenomenal passion and ability, but yeah sorry.

@armandoilfamoso THANK YOU so much for posting that link to Hendrix!! … totally killer!!! didn't know such good color film of Band Of Gypsys even existed. Much appreciated! Joey Lodes

here he is, the biggest douche in the uuuuniversse.
Report spam or abuse
im better than steve vai... NOOOOOT!!!
Report spam or abuse
Anyone else notice that Steve has no clue how the lyrics go in the beginning... And his screaming for help with that smalltalk or what ever that is.
Report spam or abuse
i thing it's all about feel's, pop is about industries..... (how to make money) but what's vai played, is about feel and idealism.... (how to make a music).
Report spam or abuse
@DimebagFarrell I like Vai, but for now i'm going to fuck off to a Hendrix video.

I love when he says " Why would I want to be a pop star when I can go like this" and the piece after is a knock out.

@tigers246484 strangely I find those jokes funny.. especially "i learned that from Britney" ... side note - if you dont like it get the hell out

Guys, JImi was Steves idol....
Report spam or abuse
Legacy of Jimi Hendrix hanging over every guitar kids. I like Vai's implementation of the song. But then again, who wouldn't like this song? By the way Jimi wrote this song about a dog(band member's family dog) which wouldn't move from the fire place, so the people couldn't get warm.

wierd seeing a grown man making out wif a microphone..but ok :D

Report spam or abuse
@OfficialSilverViper *Sigh* There is a difference between making fun of and making a joke. Please learn it. Vai clearly idolises the guy, which explains the several different Hendrix covers Vai has done.

congratulations bro we were waiting for the genious man who would make the genious comparative commnet about steve vai and someone other.yeah thats it.hell yeah.you may need to know that no one is better than some one other they are good at their style so just fack of.
Report spam or abuse
@DimebagFarrell no theres a story behind it. it was winter, he was in some chicks house, he stood by the fire to get warm. there was a dog by the fire too, hence the line "move over rover and let jimi take over"
Report spam or abuse
Vai can't play exactly like Hendrix, but I'm pretty sure Hendrix couldn't play like Vai either :-)

He's trying too hard to dress all faggy. It's embarrassing.

This song made me set the Like button on Fire.

@joeylodes Wo you might actually be right there, go sport or make guitarwork your sport before you can judge\!/

Steve Vai is a unique character. He has the personality of a complete nerd(a leather dress, complete disdain for anything too mainstream, lame jokes), and he became a rock star purely from his playing ability. I like what he did on this cover though(his commentary aside)
Report spam or abuse
@isaacwest In a lot of cases, yes. Definitely. "Club music" back in the 20s and 30s was ragtime and big band; that's what was popular. In the 40s, bebob jazz found its way into the underground clubs, but you didn't hear any Louis Armstrong there. The 50s also noted the rise of "rock" music, which in all of its versions, many have been popular and on Mtv. Many also haven't seen record sales over 2,000 units. Phases are phases and history is history. Also, I didn't define pop. I undefined it.

i wish to see him live one day . x3

@SloppyGoat not by todays standards hes not, but im pretty sure during his time he was pop (but pop probably had a different meaning back then). Hindrix Rules

I love how he does the solo in the middle exactly as the original. It is somehow to show Hendrix great respect.

if he would shut up and play i would have made it past the first 2 minutes

Steve has great skills, propably the best, but Hendrix had soul.
