@MrFtroop72 God I wish I was you what do you do for a living im in real estate and a student!

It ought have been renamed. This does not resemble the Esprit at all. I'm very sorry to see that the traditional Esprit styling is not being preserved.

@Janusha They did but I doubt they will now. It wouldn't make sense for them financially. It would cost a lot more to build a fleet of Esprit's with custom V10 engines rather than supercharged V8's; plus, the V8's are more efficient, more powerful, and more torquey.

Starts somewhere around $180,000

The return of the icon. I love this car. But I love the 458 italia as well. And to say that the Brits didn't borrow a bit of styling it well...not completely honest. Still, I love the fore and aft on this car and I would definitely purchase one depending on the performance specs. Welcome back Esprit! You've been missed.

looks like a femine version of gallardo.

@ReallyKindaGroovy so it's an Asian car after all... alright then i think am gonna ditch Lotus as one of my favorite car brands, their car designs all look like ripoffs from other more popular brands anyway... (still not apologizing)
Report spam or abuse
Who cares that it looks like a lambo!!! It's the new Esprit..and people have been waiting for this car since 2002!!!
Report spam or abuse
@chandy1000, better looking and more affordable than a lambo ^^, im getting one of these after college
Report spam or abuse
@fighter742 .....RWD cars steer true and steer better...an AWD system makes the designing of the chase less challenging.....RWD cars are tougher to make..and better to drive...even the lambo's have rear biased torque split of 60:40.....so do the ferrari FF has...all true sports car had RWD....but surely its not good for those who can't drive...and might as well suck for them..

this is better looking than lambo

@CorvetteCrazy1000 I'm 6'3 and I can get in an Exige without too much trouble...
Report spam or abuse
awesome look, front end looks a bit like a gallardo and the side view of the rear end looks a bit like a ascari A10, but then better than the a10

Isn't Lotus Owned by Malaysian?
Report spam or abuse
wow nice car! and the wheels are crazy! great job lotus

WTF that's not an esprit that's yet another elise... bring back the older one!!

Nostalgia for the esprit essex turbo 1980 :) still my fav car
Report spam or abuse
@ac3jc Yeah, too bad Lotus came up with the "wedge" first, learn a little car history.

Looks a little bit like the Spanish Spano.

nice, but it needs a HUGE spoiler, and will be awesomer

OK let's get to the point. I'm 6'3 so will I fit into this? Because if I can't I'm going to be really pissed! I've had to miss out on all the other Lotus cars because they were built for midgets and I really want the new Esprit. So Lotus DON'T LET ME DOWN!

dual clutch box ?!!! i know its better than manual but cmon! Manual is just so much more fun xD
Report spam or abuse
458 and gallardo in one car!!!
Report spam or abuse
lol ill be laughing if 2012 happens will ever see this car on the road xD
Report spam or abuse
@jssim1881 ludicrous. so is lamborghini german because volkswagen owns it?
Report spam or abuse
@TheRiseagainstfan My point is they should at least offer a manual transmission as an option. you know for ppl who know how to drive,,,,, like real men
Report spam or abuse
@hefnerweizen Actually we are both right. It did actually have the option of a 2.0L slant 4 but you never heard of those because the V8 model is the one to talk about.

the price is £110,000 GBP so all you little kids get a job

Love it. Absolutely. Thank you Lotus for getting back into the true sports car game. Enough of the ugly, 4 cylinder tin cans we've all become so accustomed to. Now, where's Bentley at? Let's see some proper sports cars from them rather than these ugly, Hollywood princess-mobiles.
Report spam or abuse
lambo called. they want their identity and design integrity back...
Report spam or abuse
I believe they talked about using the LFA engine for it. As they already have a deal to get engines supplied for these new cars from Toyota.
Report spam or abuse
Lotus lovers, I find it strange that they abandoned the 2003 style completely, it was such a signature design, and went adopting other makers elements. This is not a signature move, in my opinion. Amen on the engine / gearbox. Would have loved that update 10 years ago. Surprised.

My Esprit is an 88 Commemorative Edition [ok modified and upgraded] verdict out. I want to dig this drive but something tells me it will be down the road.Problem 1 is the power plant. It's out sourced all true Esprits are inline 4 and yes I had my 88 post production charge cooled.Anyhow that is my funk with the "new" Esprit-step child power plant,None will rival Stevens Esprit look-power plant from who? Mine a Lotus 910 nuff said..

Lotus needs to focus on making quality cars that don't break every other month. I just don't trust lotus' piss poor quality.
Report spam or abuse
NOT what I wanted it to look like-I was hoping it would have the huge air scoop just behind the doors from top to bottom-like the white one in the road&track rendition. I guess it looks good though.
Report spam or abuse
AM ON THE WAITING LIST AND LOVING IT.
Report spam or abuse
i dunno but it seems that all of these new Lotuses have design influences from the Proton EMAS, the concept car from Lotus' parent company, Proton. even the Lotus CityCar itself was based on the EMAS.
Report spam or abuse
WOW so this is aimed squarely at the 458 and the MP4-12c. I love it but it doesn't have that Lotus feel to me, this Espirit like they said is to italian!
Report spam or abuse
still gonna miss the elise/exige look...

Ugly piece of crap that looks like it was designed by an Asian high-school student. I'm very sorry to see that the classic Esprit design has been abandoned, and don't know why they didn't come up with a new name for this monstrosity straight out of Bladerunner.

Report spam or abuse
this car has a lot of lambo in the design...
Report spam or abuse
@0XxBesTofTheRestxX0 So it has... Twin turbo at that. Last I knew it had a turbo'd 4. I learned something new today.
Report spam or abuse
It's going to have a Lotus engine! :)
Report spam or abuse
This would be even better if it had the Yamaha built V10 from the LFA; but then again it would have less power so that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. I guess this engine's fine, I'm just glad Lotus has started making good looking cars again. 458 is still my car to have right above the Gallardo LP560-4 but this is right up there. The F430 I mean MP4-12c is not on there at all.

no manual, are you freaking kidding me?
Report spam or abuse
Well, the lineup is filling nicely... In the First Row we have the Corvette ZR1 and the McLaren MP4-12C In the Second Row we have the Audi R8 and the Lotus Espirit (hopefully) In the Third Row we have the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Porsche 911 Turbo In the Fourth Row we have the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Acura/Honda NSX (2013) (if they make it as shown at the auto show) Pick your poison!
Report spam or abuse
@MrMister1227 my opinion lambo is not that good looking... its just exotic looking
Report spam or abuse
Why won't someone build an enter level, mid-engine sport car for around $50-60k?
