What you're doing is new because melody disappeared from music in the late 60's. In the old "Hit Parades" it was the song that became the hit, not the recorded performance. The radio station would have its resident singers and musicians perform the hits. These songs had momentum, movement and swing. A 3-chord guitar hack in a rock band could not play one of your songs to save his life. Keep on doing what you're doing because it is needed in this age of sameness and monotony!

This is news to me - I've tried to imagine how Fats and Bix might have sounded together and failed. Would Fats have been permitted to play with a white orchestra? And would Whiteman have kept Fats in line with his strict arrangements and short solos? My guess is, sadly, that the only likely outcome of such a meeting would have been two monumental hangovers.

Thanks for the compliment. I try to sing as much like the singers of the 1920's as I can. I think one of the best compliments I got once was from a critic who said my singing was "hopelessly dated and corny." Kind of made me feel I was doing something right and capturing the little nuances of 1920's singing which sound so foreign to most people today.

As Fats Waller would have said: "Well looka here, looka here. Well aaaal right then!!!"

Great old-time vibrato. I would love to hear you do some of Alberta Hunter's material (Handyman for instance!) 5 stars!

Thanks for the compliment. This is a very popular song that has been done by a lot of vocalists and I try to give it my own personal interpretation.

Thannks for the compliment. I tried to do this number in the style of Ruth Etting. Also I do Ethel Waters version of My Handyman but sorry but I have no video of me doing it.

If Fats Waller would have seen me sing that song and talked to me I would have wanted to ask him one question. I would have asked him, "That time you were going to record Whispering with Paul Whiteman Orchestra and you were going to play organ is it true that while the recording executives were arguing over what you were going to play did you and Bix Beiderbecke go off in a corner and jam on the tune?" I would like to tell Fats Waller that I would love to hear him and Bix jamming on Whispering.
