Probably the most awesome team performance from England I've ever seen in a single day - everybody (but especially Anderson) was fabulous. We could do with a few more like those in the near future...

my most memorable day in front of the telly up all night watching test cricket... The auusies 98 all out on their biggest stage, the citadel of the MCG. Then england come out and finish the day on 159-0! well worth staying up all night to witness history and watch england get the Ashes!

Shocking batting from the Aussies. Everyone caught behind the wicket. As Boycott always says, if it's swinging you've got to play it late, but the Aussies just planted their front feet and got caught time after time.

End of day 1 and England have scored only 127? That's very slow scoring. I'll be interested to see how Australia do when they have their first innings. Oh, wait .......

All Aussies are cowards, but Soccer is England's national sport? Yep, makes sense.

The best 2 and a half minutes of cricket ever.

Remember when Australia thought Steve Smith would be a Test match no.6 batsman? Those were the days... :P

May I recommend the book 'The Ashes 1945-2005 A Complete Record' by Tony Wagtar.

@loftusroadconor I know you're right, but it was Strauss' half-century. :P That England innings belonged to Trott.

@lachynf18 Yes but there replacements havent been good enough, johnson is shocking anyway, xavier doherty is nothing next to shane warne, hughes is nothing on hayden and ponting is in decline. Haddin replacing Gilchrist is the only decent replacement i can see really. England on the other hand, HAVE replaced great players, Vaughan, Giles, Trescothick, Hoggard, Flintoff replaced by the likes of Trott, Cook, Swann, Anderson and Tremlett.

@lachynf18 This might carry on, first Australia being the dominant team but then their great players retire and they decline- the same may happen to India! They are currently World Cup Winners and no. 1 in Tests (although hopefully England will beat them in this series), but Tendulkar is 38, Dravid 38 and VVS Laxman 36, when they all retire India have a massive job of trying to replace irreplacables like Tendulkar and Dravid, they may decline next!

Things could be worse guys. You could be all out for 47.
