Chris De Costa Spinning back kick

by thepowerkarate • 109,908 views

BKK National Champs 2010. Chris de Costa knocks his opponent down with a spinning back kick

Why would you even perform a knock out move on an obliviously less experienced opponent. What an asshole. Karma is a bitch if you haven't gotten it yet. It's coming biatch!

it's a tournament, you have to save your energy for the fights that come after in the next hours. This is a knockdown tournament, the objective is the knock out. His opponent fully knew that and made his choice by entering the tournament.

That's a spinning hook kick -.-

Thats what im saying! i mean there at completely different skill levels!

why the fuck is a yellow belt fighting a black belt at a tournament?
Report spam or abuse
yellow belt is a level where you are begining to learn, taking a spinning hook kick like that to the temple is dishonourable when delivered from a black belt to a yellow belt.

Why is a black belt fighting an orange belt? This is the most ridiculous matchup I think I've ever seen. His opponent has no idea what he's doing, watch his hands and feet. You can tell he's struggling just to defend himself, much less fight back much...

U muppets that are criticising are u all thick. This is Kyokushin Knockdown! The operative word is knockdown! If u enter such tournaments expect to get knocked the f@ck out.

As I said, It is like boxing or mma or numerous other full contact fights where you are placed in a weight catagory. In this case the Black belt was the more experienced fighter sure but like I said, there are green, yellow and brown belts out there who have just stayed at that belt for years and have far more experience than some black belts for whom it is their first fight. It could just have easily been the other way around.

Picking on a yellow belt. What a loser.

That Kick was EPIC !!!. Shihan Nick came down to folkestone about 7 years ago for knockdown training where I live, I'll remember that session cuz I left with a broken rib lol. I've been wanting to get back into it, and was sniffin' around online for vid's this one stood out the most. NICELY EXECUTED, THAT 5TH KYU HIT THE DECK LIKE A SACK OF SPUDS, RESPECT TO HIM THO FOR TAKING SUCH A HARSH BLOW :)

-This is not a Spinning Back NOR a Spinning Hook: It's a Spinning Wheel Kick common in Kyokushin fights. -Belts don't mean anything when it comes to talent. As a white belt it took me less than one month to me able to do Spinning Hooks, Brazilian Kicks, Axe Kicks, Flying Side Kicks and even 360 Spinning Hooks. I started to train on my own since then based on japanese and chinese disciplines. -The yellow belt was pretty aware that getting into a fight involves risks of getting KO'd.

I would agree with the majority of you if it were sparring, but its not sparring. This is the real thing. This is a competition and the yellow belt entered knowing he would be up against black belts.

its part of the whole martial arts honor system,,,, if you hurt someone severely during a spar you go to the other end of the mat and kneel.

Control too. And it's a jump spinning hook kick, not a back kick, the title is incorrect.

Besides I've seen yellow belts knockout black belts in Kyokushin so is that showboating?

Thanks for posting. Shame on him. He should have his black belt taken from him. The Black Belt is earned not just as a consequence of mastery of techniques, it should a measure of character as well.
Report spam or abuse
retarded..why the fuck would they let lower belt competitors to fight at such levels in the first place..thats sandbagging for the higher belts..the yellow belt clearly had no business fighting the black belt with his slow ass timing and low level techniques...don't the black belts wanna get tested by other elites to find out who is really the best huh...just throwing meat to the wolves I say

A belt by itself means absolutely nothing. I was cabaple of doing advanced kicking techniques since I was a white belt and most of my knockouts came from spinning hook kicks when I STILL was a yellow belt.

what a disgrace to the martial arts , how can people applaud this supposed black belt
Report spam or abuse
that was a flourish, and utterly unnecessary. the bb went for it because it was an easy shot - an unprepared yellow belt, who was already losing. bullshit. what's the point of martial art training where your superiors will hurt you more than anything out there in the real world

It's amazing how everyone keeps clapping... And the guy sitting in the chair is like, "Hey guys, make sure he's not dead." That just caught me off guard...

I'm sure the blackbelt felt like a real tough guy after ko'ing the yellow belt.. dafuq is this shit

ITT: Lot's of people who don't understand knockdown competitions. You enter knockdown knowing full well the risks and not knowing your opponent. To all the uneducated people crying bully, tough guy, scumbag etc: I know plenty of people who have stayed at yellow belt or green belt for years with no intention of progressing to black as they had reached the minimum standard of competition so you cannot judge a persons ability on belt colour alone.

This is a knock down competition. Period. This is not the school play ground. Full contact rules they both knew this, both entered free willingly.

Always hate it when i hear laughs when a guys gets knocked out ...people i gues are just non realistic and stupid monkeys

It is pretty obvious the yellow belt is not a professional mma fighter ! Lol, I just dont like mismatched fights where people who dont know what the fuck is going on get hurt. Alot of martial artists who train Sanshou with me didnt like this.

Why do people comment when they dont know whats going on! This is a Kyokushin KNOCKDOWN tournament, both fighters entered with the intention to fight full contact, kicks to the head are included! So dont moan and feel sorry for the guy who got KO'd, he knew this could have happened and he enterted the tournament same as all the other fighters knowing that getting KO'd is a possibility aswell as KO'ing someone else! If you don't like it, don't watch! Simple...

Sell out like that w/the kick in a street fight and your done. To wit, stay on your feet if your a striker.
Report spam or abuse
I dont get it! Is this "tag," point karate or some kind of strange rules where you can punch to the body but you cant punch to the head ,but allows you tou kick with full power to the head???? Point karate has always been full of bullshit! The dude who threw the kick should of been knocked out subsquently by some one. What a punk!

never seen someone less deserving of a black belt in my life.

I did the opposite to a black belt in Goju Ryu,me at my yellow belt level at the time.It wasn't that fancy but he was out cold

@aurelijusjuska This was Chris Da Costa's first senior knockdown tournament (he's 18 years old), Sensei Popov has been fighting for over a decade. Your statement is ridiculous!!!

you remind me so much of your dad mate osu

lol you should try muay thai, i took 3 head kicks in first sparring session without headgear, the instructor thought it was funny lol
Report spam or abuse
if he did it to another elite black belt that kick would be the shit but I couldn't help notice how inexperienced the yellow belt was and how slow his timing was compared to the black belt
Report spam or abuse
That was awsome! but that was not a back kick, it was a spin heel/hook kick. A back kick is like a thrusting straight sidekick type of spinning move.
Report spam or abuse
Guys this is Kyokushin. The black belt did not choose his opponent. You cannot expect him to lower his standard for this reason, if anything, he has helped this yellow belt learn. OSU

absolutely atrocious. what a terrible way for the black belt to try to win the round. it was clear he was winning. what a showboat.

fuckin bully dickhead...shame on you....thats assault in my opinion!!... from me a fellow martial artist since 1974!!

depending on different styles all the belt colours mean different thing (with the exception of white and black). For instance in seikei juku yellow belt is intermediate
