Wow awesome! Could u tell us something how you set up your particle flow? :D

Best fumefx simulation I've seen, I just keep watching it again and again...

What was the Grid size and spacing? I'd like to test my second gen i7 out on something like this?

Putting ur work up and not sharing any details is a nice way to show off

holy shit, this is awesome, what was the simulation time?
Report spam or abuse
Does the Fume fx allow you to render the effect with any color of background? To use it like green screen?

Really nice !, but it looks more like lava smoke because its making to many smoke in ... the smoke... if you know what i mean :s , sorry for bad english :)
Report spam or abuse
Please tell me you have an alpha channel for that? I want...
Report spam or abuse
do you use max with it or just fume fx?
Report spam or abuse
holybananas! man this was a nice render
Report spam or abuse
wow..!! its perfect..! how much mem do you have on your computer ?
Report spam or abuse
Are u usinge a wavelet simulation with detail map?
Report spam or abuse
what are your hardware specs? like processor and graphic card
Report spam or abuse
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE ITTTTTTT!!!!

@brandoncyoung Holy crap, did you steal some secret Soviet Super Computer??!
Report spam or abuse
hey i am new to 3ds max i am more of a c4d kinda guy is there any tutorial to making this realistic smoke kinda look even if i have to use fume and Krakatoa
Report spam or abuse
@brandoncyoung Hey, is this real scale? i mean life scale not using max default?
Report spam or abuse
This is AWESOME....could you make some tutorial(s)? :)

I loved it, and I would add its nice that it is long so u can really see the smoke development.

why am i just seeing this now!? this is freakin AMAZING!

shit ! i've miss like button, sry man luv yur video dude.

sim time was about 35 hours, dual quad cores 24 gigs of ram. voxel res is 1500x715x600 no fluid mapping. IMO fluid mapping is almost completely useless at this scale for most part i never use it its adds a ton of space and sim time.

Mother of God... This is one of, if not THE most impressive, realistic, amazing what so ever smoke simulations I have EVER seen done with FumeFx. Seriously, this is super fantastic beautifully detailed! Cheers Dude, you are the man!
Report spam or abuse
Questions here; Is it the fluid sim itself that is so highres or is this upressed with wavelets/curlonoise??? Whats the amount of Megavoxels in this and what are the sim times?
Report spam or abuse
@brandoncyoung Please tell me your computer parts! Your computer must be godly lol

so i just discovered realflow this morning i'm not usually good with theese things but i'm determined to try i have an HP Pavillion with 8 gigs of ram and a terabyte of memory thinkn i could run it?
Report spam or abuse
Just wondering, how to make the smoke disappear so nicely?
Report spam or abuse
Wow man, freaking cool. Would love to see some of those settings. Very nice
Report spam or abuse
@brandoncyoung wow really awesome!... when I read that 24 gigs part... it was all clear where did that high res get from :)
Report spam or abuse
did you use a spacewarp, e.g. wind, to blow the smoke to the side? or did you use the fumefx gravity vector? just wanted to know how you get this constant speed in your fume motion. thnx

object source, and i have dual quad cores hyperthreaded so 8 physical cores but 16 in all.. and 24 gigs isnt too much considering this is to scale the smoke is movie roughly 300 ft.. im currently doing one now that goes over 1000 feet. i dont it doesn't sound like much but in order to get ur stuff to look right u need to do it to scale usually.

@brandoncyoung u mean 1 hour? or 1 minute...cuz that doesnt look like 1 minute 0..0

Report spam or abuse
@brandoncyoung 24?! Bite my nuts and call me skjpy :D
Report spam or abuse
@AnimationSector it automatically uses all, just make sure u have x64 version of 3ds max, it would uses as many as the avaible ram can provide.
Report spam or abuse
the scale is 1:1 so 1 ft is ojne foot.. im not cheating the scene scale on this.
Report spam or abuse
How much money have you put into your computer????

How do I allow more ram to 3ds max, I only have 3 gb, and I think it uses a fraction of it. I even close explorer and other processes to allow it more, but it doesn't seem to help. Also is there any way to have my graphics card to speed and assist the simulation calculations?
Report spam or abuse
cool, i might pinch a frame and use it as my desktop background :P
Report spam or abuse
Mt. 3dsmax is erupting... Argh, don't make me boot it up again! I have things to do!
Report spam or abuse
you can do some kinda nice sims with 6 gigs.. just fire sims you can get some nice results
Report spam or abuse
i see shapes on that smoke its so cool and so good quality.. any tutorial to share?
Report spam or abuse
@brandoncyoung can you please tell us about your system specs and the render and simulation time ?
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
grid size and sim time for this one? also what kind of rig are you running on?
Report spam or abuse
if you slowed it down, you could certainly use this for simulating a large forest fire or something of that scale.
Report spam or abuse
@brandoncyoung, WOW, 24 Gigs of ram!!!! That's a little extreme, but if it allows a smooth render, so be it.
Report spam or abuse
is there any way to download this video to use in my vids? i can't afford fume or after works
Report spam or abuse
beautiful iam a newb there are any tutorials for this ?
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
@arrivingdesignation you could do that.. but then it would be super slow. since ram is faster than your harddrive. @nVidia6000 played with the dissipation settings. @pekcoo you got it!
Report spam or abuse
i think it took around a minute and half to render.
Report spam or abuse
Can you do a tutorial on large scale smoke?
Report spam or abuse
@AtlantiXYL well this was 1 unit = 1 ft u could do meters doesnt matter.
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
Looks like an IED has just blew up...lol. Jokes apart, how long to render?
Report spam or abuse
very nice smoke simulation you did there. what did you use as emitter?

@brandoncyoung oy, where the hell do you guys find so much ram? Amazing video, Id like to ask something. Im about to make my graduation project, and ill have a lot of smoke, simple ghost models (hiden in render) moving around and object source in all of them... they might be nearly 100 models of them. I have an intel core quad at 2.4 and 3gb of ram. What can I do? I mean you said you had over 24gigs for this. Can I sim a scene like mine with just 3gb? I dont care about final simulation time.

how in the name do you ever get 24 gigs of ram in one pc? awesome vids btw
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
Looks like grand dust pillars from volcanoes. Absolutely stunning!
Report spam or abuse
This is Awseome!! Best Fumefx sim ever!!!! You could do stock footage like finalight (.) com does, but I think this one is even better than theirs.
Report spam or abuse
I get it now...no wonder the generate fumeFX look so pathetic, you needa use large scale....to give details to the smoke...
Report spam or abuse
can you reupload it with a green background ;)
Report spam or abuse
@brandoncyoung HOLY COW!!! Is that why it only took a minute and a half to render?
Report spam or abuse
my moms fart is bigger then this !!!!
Report spam or abuse
i'm assuming you used vray to render this? I think its kind of ridiculous that it only took you a minute to render a frame. I did a high res fluid sim in maya (volumetric smoke) and it took 3 hours to render one frame with vray! And I was using 1/4th of the grid resolution as you are.
