I normally don't like those posts that says "Those X people who dislike this video must... " because I always believe everyone have their own preferences. However, in this case, I do wonder what are the reasons for those 0.66% negative ratings. Are there some valid technical reasons for their negative responses? 
Maybe people who are generally afraid of the rapid progress of technology

awesome, the way it grab things and release them with additional force (like when it's shooting a ball to the ring, etc), i mean just wow

This seems like a pretty good approach to robotics in space, assuming that it can withstand the large temperature range.

came here because a picture of how pony hooves might work :D
i've got a question. got here trough grabcad challenge, but how is the pick and place precision of the gripper. i can imagine that it would be hard to specify the exact location of the object inside the gripper so it could be hard to place a small object on a precise spot. although shooting go's quit well ;-)

I don't think this can use trigger based tools, though, like power tools such as hand drills. 
just add an extra arm for that stuff if you need it.

How would it heal if it got cut though? I think you would have to have a pressure sensor to know when to heal, and there's the problem with the skin not aligning. Also, since evolution works in steps, there would need to be a reason for a bone sac without the pump.

I guess if you're dealing with small time business, bang for buck does come into play. The company I work with deals with a product that ranges at around 1000 USD. We run 24/7 and produce 1200/24 hours. The money we work with 5% goes a big way. Not to mention precision is not simply quantity but quality as well. I can tell you from inside experience that companies who do in fact use these "expensive" units will continue. Our robotic grippers range around 2.5 mill and we don't regret a cent spent

Actually, if an amputee were to use this, in my eyes they would become Bomberman.
Would there be any way for the gripper to sense what it is picking up? So that if one in a factory deals with two separate objects and has to put them is specific places, it wouldn't just be programmed to pick up whatever is just in front of it, but it would pick up the object and determine for itself where it's supposed to go?

I can, it is actually quite simple, some bone fragments, some liquid (synovial fluid or blood would probably do) and some muscle pump , wrap it with elastic skin and there you go.

It doesn't have to be beneficial at first; as long as whoever gets that mutation manages to produce fertile offspring that can pass the genes onwards anything else doesn't matter. What makes you think such an individual wouldn't reproduce? Perhaps even if those earlier steps made the individual less capable, perhaps that actually turned out to be a reproductive advantage, since those individuals wouldn't be as hard to rape as "healthier" individuals and so have more offspring than the pickiers
I'm sorry, but the Powerpuff girls did this ages ago.
I figured there'd be room for both. These things look useful and versatile, but I can imagine they'd be less durable, require more maintenance and replacement, and not as strong as solidly built robot arms.

So that's how Doraemon's paw works!
there is one massive problem with this, since the gripper is packed with a vacuumed granular substance, determining the flow of the compression is near pseudo random. Even with synthetic granules you will still under go varied results and the practical use of this gripper would be in an automated scenario which involves iterations to be 100% consistent. I can't see this replacing "expensive" grippers. There is a reason why they are "expensive".
Worse mutations have been passed on to the next generations. Mutations don't have to be beneficial, the only thing that matters is the genes getting passed on.
I've never heard of doreamon... Why is there not a comment about ponies in top position?

Only problem I see is the delicate rubber membrane which could easily start leaking when handling sharp objects.

I'm sure I've seen one of these designs before by using a ball to pick up pretty much any object. Using inexpensive materials though such as coffee and a balloon is quite a good usage of that idea. It does the job well and pretty easily, which is needed for a gripper. Anyway, seems this video attracted a bunch of different people together. Looks like there's a lot of characters with no fingers that can grip things.
Can someone pls tell me what Robot is that? Model number or something?

Apart from the fact that it is already established in the show that they are solid actual hooves, yes. Nice try though.
