Seafoaming a 1979 400 Small Block Camaro

by 63lesabre • 21,894 views

In this Seafoam video, we run it through my friend's 1979 Chevy Camaro with a 400 Small Block. After we ran it, he said it revved faster, and idled much steadier. Later on, I put plugs in it to...

Cant tell if is a vacuum secondary?? Uh OK

How about just dip+rebuild the carb?

Because he didn't have the know-how. This was probably not even his car. His dad was probably out of town, and he wanted to impress his daddy by "making it run better". He obviously doesn't know anything about cars. Doesn't know if it is vacuum secondary or double pumper? Is he stupid? That proves right there that he doesn't know how to rebuild it. He probably doesnt know the brand, the size, or anything about it.

There is this point in time when you know you really shouldnt touch something. That was it. About 20 minutes before you started that video.

Could you tell me what type of exhaust this is? I took my 400sb to a dealer to get a better sound than what I have. He told me it was fine how it is. But it didnt sound like this. Which is what I want.. :) Thanks again

Man i so wanted it to throw a rod =(

The carb looks like a 600 vacuum secondary(due to the vacuum pod on the side and the single fuel inlet side hung floatbowls).

I have a 76 chevy with a sb400 its been very good to me. I just got a 68 vert with a 307, and for the life of me I cant decide on an economical ballsy sb to replace it with.. I have a friend with a 350, that's missing a few parts, and another friend with a cammed up 400 that's ready to go...

and you guys have no business anywhere near a car. All this dude knows is he has a 400 (supposedly- probably a 305), his eyes itch and hes stoned, and the other clown cant tell a vacuum from a mechanical secondary. And because its a whopping 400 cubic inches you need to use two cans of seafoam? Sweet next bright idea is to rev it to 7000 and hold it there!!

(Guy's please dont take this the wrong way) But I got to ask? I have been watching BLOOPERS on tv all last week.. WHAT IS IT WITH WHITE PEOPLE ALWAYS WANTING TO PLAY ON THE ROOF OF A HOUSE?..ha ha ha ha ha ! I still like the camaro!

badass camaro dude, I use seafoam all the time too, and it can fix so many things. I have a friend with a 2003 Eclipse that had a misfire code and something with intake air soleniod. Did the seafoam cleaning and now that thing hasnt complained since then.

@firehawk400 That dont change how much oil they burn. Its a matter of how good of shape the piston rings are, how well theyre preventin blowby, and how good of shape your valveseals are. These motors have a problem with overheatin cause of the thinner cooling jackets which is cause of the large bore(4.125" bore). So people put steamholes in the heads to fix that issue. The stock heads on 400s genuinely suck though!

Does your car burn any oil? I've heard that the 400 SBCs tend to do that, especially when overbored.
