If I was back in the 60's or 70's, when all the people would be spitting on the soldiers, I would just go up to one and hug him and tell him a much deserved "Welcome Home". Thats all I have to say.

+Michael Cash ok, first off, i DO have something to say. the solders are amazing, and god bless them. and can't we say thanks even if we've not seen the bloodshed?! some never get the meaning of it when they even have seen it. Yet others, like me, haven't seen the bloodshed yet understand it. so i DO have something to say.

Wow, I was born on November 8th. I was 3 then. My brother was in Nam. He was a hero but his PTSD came on worse a few years ago. These proud soldiers aren't done fighting just because they came  back home. Please realize that.

word can't describe the happiness and sorrow i feel when this song plays. It makes you appreciate what we have, and the costs it took to get and have it. God bless the brave solders we have, and thank you.

It makes me sad to see all the hate people have for the troops. I graduated highschool at semester just so i could become the paratrooper i am today faster, and some people would rather die than even stand beside us. I havent been to war, i havent seen any combat, but one day i will, i joined as an infantry paratrooper in the United States Army and ill forever stand by the true heroes of this country.

I am proud to wear my uniform and even if I wasn't in the military I'd be proud of someone who's brave enough to sign their name and give their life to defend this country...I don't understand how some people don't support the people that do the work that soldiers do, even if you don't support the war, these soldiers are sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers who are sacrificing their life and time and they need all the support that they can get.

General Giap was the mastermind behind the Vietnamese military.  He admitted in the 90s that after the Tet Offensive, they had nothing left.  We could have won on the ground if we had the political will back home to finish the job.  Those were HIS words, not mine.  He would know.

+cody eliot He won the war.  Not sure what the incentive to lie would be at that point.

This makes me very sad, I actually went to the Vietnam War Memorial on a field trip last year and I actually saw that long list of names on the board. I wrote a letter to one of the guys because that's what our class had to do. It was so crowded there and beautiful. I seen some people crying.  November 8th is actually my birthday so this really touched my heart.  I give thanks to all the troops and everyone fighting for our country! I wish wars could end! Nobody deserves to die like this. I love you all and respect to you in the army. Hopefully this world can make peace in the future.

The Hippies and Government had nothing to do with us losing that war. To begin with it wasn't a war, it was a Police Action that the United States should never ever been allowed to be caught in. But the hire ups had a much bigger plan.....KILL JFK and go into Vietnam and make the war there bigger. Wars are big bucks for government run companies or companies with government contracts. Look at the statistics and you ask yourself....who benefited from going into Vietnam???? It sure wasn't the Vietnamese people....it' was our own crooked government.

I pray we never are forced into war again but if we are we have the will to win it. I also hope our president will be more concerned with our people than the ones we are fighting.

to all that served in Viet Nam, from the pencil pushers in the rear with the gear, the tunnel rats, the navy guys that were always there to put some heat when it got hot, the only people over 30 you could trust, arc light that made the whole valley rumble, us guys that just couldn't sit still, but most of all, to the ones that spent their last days so far away from home, a salute that is earned and deserved.

I had the honor of serving with a man who fought that day. I'm not sure which company or platoon, but he did three tours with the 173rd and the 8th ID in Vietnam. It was hard to understand anything he said, because his larnyx was screwed up from mortar fragments. I learned more from him in my first two weeks in his platoon than I did in my entire first two years in the army.

I want to say thank you to those that support the vets. One minor thing. Saigon fell in April of 1975 so although the war may have been officially over. There were still troops on the ground in Viet Nam until that day. And to the "hippie" lovers. I am sure that if you had been spit on in the airport when you returned home, you wouldn't care for them too much either.

It's sad to think that most of the men over there didn't even want to be, just unfortunately drafted. Then to come home to be shamed & shunned. And that was the "lucky" ones who made it back.. It's something to make you shiver thinking about

My cousin and I were ambushed by Insurgents. It is unknown how many attacked us but by the body count there were more than 70 Insurgents. My cousin died saving me and my squad. He died in my arms and I was wounded severely along with one of my other squadmates. We fought to the last bullet and luckily they decided to retreat. My cousin who was more of a brother I shall always remember. RIP Luke Miller
