Maybe they were sitting upside down (for some odd reason) and thought the dislike button was actually the like button? IDK lol, either way, Mr. Rogers was the man!

Mister Rogers was a comforting presence to me in my lonely, latch-key childhood. His reassuring tone and his affirming messages helped me battle crushing depression caused by the abuse I was enduring. Although I am an atheist, Fred Rogers will remain in my mind as the pinnacle of what a Christian should be. Non-judgemental, supportive, and nurturing. Oh Fred. We need you now more than we ever did.
Report spam or abuse
+dtjwho2000 No, I'm not saying that. I'm not on the offensive, here. I am simply saying that +Michael Nitsch had possibly, (hopefully) in-advertently insulted Atheists by stating that Atheists become such, merely because they have experienced some trauma in their life as opposed to having the proper mental faculties needed in order to be inquisitive and exercise rational thought. What +Michael Nitsch is saying may seem to undermine the very potential intelligence of other human beings - emphasis on human beings NOT exclusively Atheists. Consider the same reason presented by +Michael Nitsch, yet intended for someone of religious background. Is that not insulting to them that their belief in a higher entity is solely because of their unfortunate circumstances or their particular traumatic experiences?

We barely ever watched TV growing up, just two weeks every other summer at my grandparents who lived in the city, and I remember (or think I do) every show of his I watched.  He really is the epitome of what is good in us humans. I don't have a lot of experience with religion personally, or maybe a LOT depending on how you want to look at it.  We grew up in the middle of nowhere with hippies, Quakers (who are probably the most peaceful and least preachy of all Abrahamic religions), buddists, athiests, agnostics, Native shamanism, new age spiritual mish mash and who knows what else.  I know when we were very young my mom went to a Unitarian church for a while as she really enjoyed the group singing, but when we were sent home with colouring books about how good little boys helped their dad fix the car and mow the lawn, and good little girls washed the dishes and made meals that was that lol!  I don't think she liked the stereotypical gender roles they were trying to enforce one bit.  I still remember to this day her getting us discuss it until we started to question the message.  I don't think we were too old, maybe 4 and 6? Mr Rogers may have been Christian but it was pretty common for his generation in north america.  I don't think that has anything to do with his character to be honest.  There are plenty of studies on human morality which show we understand right and wrong, fairness and unfairness, kindness, helpfulness and justice even as babies.  I'm just glad people like Mr Rogers exist so we can all see what it means to really live those values.  I don't ever remembering him getting preachy or talking about Christian values at all.  I think he just wanted to help children be true to themselves and keep their innate kindness alive their whole lives. And last but not least this remix ROCKS!  I go on a real binge every few months and of course read the comments when I do :P

I am 50 years old.  This man was a great influence on all that is good in society.  He wouldn't say that, so I will.  Anyone who had the privilege to watch him first hand, is so so much more blessed today.  Not perfect, sometimes a miserable failure.  But he did his part by setting the good example of honor, integrity, and humility.  He honored the One whom he worshiped.  He would never take the credit, but would give his Lord and Savior Jesus all accolades because of His influence.

Mr. McFeely was steeling packages. Mr. Rogers never ordered anything and was always surprised to get the mail. Meanwhile off camera, there's a neighbor getting pissed waiting for the whistles he ordered to show up.

i notice all the people that like mr rogers are people id want my children to be around, while the ones with negative comments are uneducated, ignorant and stupid. they were the generation that missed what we were lucky to have.... mind power. no one teaches children how to think they show kids how they should think. these past 20 years have shown that with all the new technology to keep us and our children busy.... the problem is no one thinks anymore.
