Hansen - 2012 Gotham (G3)

by The New York Racing Association, Inc. • 21,009 views

Rebounding from his only defeat, juvenile champion Hansen came from off the pace for the first time in his career and posted a decisive three-length victory in Saturday's 60th running of the Grade...

Hansen is not to be taken lightly. Everyone was eager to wave around the extra 78 ft that Union Rags ran in the BCJ, and yet they all claimed "no excuses" when Hansen stumbled at the gate in the Holy Bull. How ridiculous. And now Hansen has proved that he can win from a wide post, he can win on a wet track, and he can rate. The rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated.

@XxSodano Not if he wins the Wood. No horse has won a Gotham-Wood-KD triple. Native Dancer couldn't do it, nor could Secretariat.

Hansen really is more impressive than he is given credit. This was a good race, and the fact that place and show were beaten by Algorithms speaks volumes about the possibilities of this crop. Also, this was Hansen with blinkers off! BRIAN

Look back to the Breederscup Juvenile, pause it, and come back to this video. You'll notice that Hansen was caught far wider that Union Rags was, and Hansen was STILL able to pull off a win! If you ask me, Union Rags would NOT have won the Breeders Cup, even if he DID get as good a trip as Hansen. All excuses are off when you compare the two races.

Fantastic move round the last bend... he's only a little 'un but his heart makes up for it... I could watch that Grey run all day... I got 16/1 just before the Gotham so that's where my tenner went... looking forward to the first Saturday in May (from a UK resident!)
