Sea World Dolphin Dies in Collision With Another

by Associated Press • 7,553,323 views

http://smarturl.it/AssociatedPress A dolphin died over the weekend at a SeaWorld sister park after colliding with another dolphin during a guest interaction program. (April 29) The Associated Press...

They suicided together because they loved each other, now they're free as they should be and not in captivity.

This is so sad I love dolphins! :)

stupid humans! just want to subdue and dominate mother nature. dolphins are extremely intelligent and should never have to go through this for the amusement of psycopathic humans. leave the animals in their natural environments where they belong. hasn't man disrupted the natural balance of everything that nature had put into place enough?

Giovanni Becerra...whales & dolphins are forced to perform in these places. They are ripped away from their mothers, taken to the highest bidder & held in captivity. Those born there never get a taste of freedom. They get stressed out because of being held captive & this shortens their lives. There is no way to justify this. Dolphin & whale roundups turn into violent bloodbaths with those not chosen to be sold for entertainment, being killed by driving a pole into their spinal column. For what? That almighty dollar Sea World & places like it are nothing more than torture chambers & need to be put out of business.  The sense of entitlement concerning them is astounding. Who gave them the right to go into their home & take them captive? Don't hand me the line that the trainers love & care about them. If that was true, places like sea world would not exist.  The circus is no better. They do the same thing, ripping  babies from their mothers, condemning them to a horrendous life of captivity & abuse.

"The trainers don't ever force them"... Naw not at all, the trainers just withhold food. They all choose to perform once their hungry enough
Report spam or abuse
All those people saying that these animals are take from mothers how do you know they was not born at the themepark and actually they dont force them to do a show!
Report spam or abuse
Just because someone said that in the video doesn't mean they aren't forced to do anything. All of the animals are forced to do things in any zoo or sea world. Also they're forced to be kept out of the wild, which is really a pathetic thing.
Report spam or abuse
Did I just hear that right? One dolphin dies and the other isn't even injured? How does THAT happen?
Report spam or abuse
same way people can get in car accidents and one vehicle has mass injuries resulting in death, and the other one walks away.
Report spam or abuse
Enough of this circus already.  We've had how many decades of showing off silly tricks in bath rubs.  Set them free and enjoy them in the environment they TRULY belong = THE OPEN OCEAN.  Thanks

This is the unfortunate result of human error. Exactly the type of thing that would happen if an animal is hungry and drugged in order to perform as the dolphins know this is what they must do to receive a meal. They are disoriented and disconnected from their families, over trained and used and abused. It's modern day slavery.
Report spam or abuse
they are fed their regular meals and they receive positive reinforcement by means of fish in the performance. they are not starved.

shut these parks down, evil fuckers. It is a disgrace that in this day and age people try to justify the cruelty to animals with money. How about we think less about money (you know that bit a paper with pretty pictures on which actually means nothing when you really think about it) and more about, what is right and the right thing to do. I hope 1 day day these people are swimming in the sea and a great white shark goes for them and instead of a dolphin intervening (which they normally do) instead the dolphin swims away and the great white has it's fun.

Wow! Those "visitors" interviewed must get paid a fair bit from sea world to spread these "positive messages" what a load a fucked up shit! This just makes me sick!!!
Report spam or abuse
Those so called "visitors" are full of shit! Watch "the cove" or "black fish." A caged mammal/animal can only be confined for so long before it gets emotional, aggravated, or careless..
Report spam or abuse
as long as your stand isnt because of that movie, then power to you. i dont agree, but i respect your view point. at least its not a Blackfish based stance. The Cove however, at least showed real abuse on video. now THAT is abuse.

Last year I went to sea world and I loved it but I do understand that these beautiful creatures should not be in captivity and specially for money

Captivity kills and  is immensely cruel. Sea Worlds imprison cetaceans in tiny tanks that acoustically blind them, and shorten their lives. Instead of swimming 40-100km per day and living 50-100 years, they are force-fed and drugged, or ripped from their mothers early and live only 9 years on average.  Why would anyone decide to go to a Sea World? From the glossy surface of SeaWorld's PR machine, parents are offered a pinnacle experience with a chance to connect with nature, a guaranteed feel good factor Yet under the glossy facade there lies a horrifying tale of kidnappings murders and unbelievable cruelty. Started in 1970's SeaWorld ripped hundreds of Orcas from their families, many died. After weighted bodies washed up the outcry led to legislation that forbade US Orca captures. Despite the no captured policy many SeaWorld dolphins have Taiji DNA. 17 dolphins die per one kidnapped, the $160,000 or so paid for a "trained" dolphin underwrites this  barbaric genocidal slaughter, with agonising 10-20 minute deaths. The kidnapped dolphins are starved then force-fed with a mixture of drugs and dead fish, an then conditioned to do tricks with food deprivation. Many of these dolphins, or their offspring, find their way back to Western countries. SeaWorlds demands sexual services from its  highly intelligent cetaceans, infamously inbreeding direct kin; and the sad results include stillbirths and maternal deaths, and SeaWorld pools echo with the long sad cries of mothers when their babies are taken away from them. Dolphins and whales are highly intelligent and call each other by name. Captive cetaceans have remembered their family members names even after twenty years. Their language is so complexly structured that we may have difficulty in deciphering it for quite some time, and it appears that they use non-linear maths everyday in acquiring food. It is so wrong to imprison such powerful magnificent sea beings in tiny reflective tanks that effectively blind them. Being ripped from your family and being forced to swim in tiny circles rather in the open ocean just to do tricks for our entertainment, and for huge profits for SeaWorld owners directors and shareholders could be only be described as modern day slavery.

well if there life span is shortened because of human contact or not is a big thing. As well as determining how many there are in the wild. A new theory is also to determine the animals intelligence and many many scientist and activist believe animals of certain intelligence that do not do well in captivity shouldn't be incaptivity. Also I'd like to point out you can't buy a dolphin or whale at the local pet shop these animals are taken from the wild. Those brd in captivity are results of insest

There is no comparison to a domesticated dog and a dolphin! Dolphins have a much larger brain even than a humans and their astonishing intelligence and emotional empathy puts them on a par with humans.

You cannot have a dolphin collide and die and the other one perfectly fine. Disgusting wrong and these places are filled with lies. Watch Blackfish you will understand behind the scenes the torture and torment that greedy people do for money.

If they would of left them in the ocean where they belong this would of never happened.

Most dolphins born into captivity have never even seen a live fish! They do not know the natural rhythms of the ocean, the tides and currents, their natural environment, nor can they ever be released into the wild and that is so sad.

Is there anything else that SeaWorld would like to exploit, maim and kill?

I hate sea world dolphins are supposed to be free in the ocean not in a tank they send out sonar signals to see if there is anything near by, in the ocean it can go out for miles but in their tanks it quickly bounces back and hurts them
Report spam or abuse
Whales are in no way forced to do tricks they do it so they can get a treat just like many dogs and cats are given treats when they do a "forced" trick that is what you were saying. Also whales and the people at Seaworld love these animals and yes they are with the whale for long periods of time to build relationship.
Report spam or abuse
actually the trainer when they first get a dolphin or orca force the animal to learn the tricks or they get cornered into a tank shut off from the rest of the dolphins and sometimes not given food either. No I am not making this up friend of mine use to work at sea world florida and was "fired" for speaking up against it and was forced to sign documents saying he or she could not go to press about it.

lol that was so dumb, i actually think it was funny :D

Longer lifespan? I'm sorry but is 100% incorrect. Killer whales and Dolphins in the wild live about 3 times longer than those in captivity. It's not a matter of how these parks and zoos treat these animals it's the fact that there is no zoo or aquarium that can provide what these animals need. Captivity is cruel and it's even more cruel to make them perform tricks for humans and making a ton of money doing so.

You obviously haven't seen 'The Cove' and you have no idea what you are talking about! In Taiji Japan, ever year they kill hundreds of families and capture one or two from each pod to sell to Dolphinariums all over the world. One dolphin sold into captivity can generate as much as $154,000,a dead dolphin is only worth $500 which is sold to be eaten! So their free to do what they want most of the time hey,and what would that be? well ill tell you what they do out the back, absolutely nothing!
Report spam or abuse
Well you have a point in a way it is cruel but is not and that yes they should be set free but we can only dream.
Report spam or abuse
yeah everything is controlled and the animals are heavily medicated. the trainers don't force them, are you kidding? they don't get food if they don't perform!

"Ric" O'Barry captured and trained the five dolphins that were used in the well-known TV series Flipper. He made a radical transition from training dolphins in captivity to assertively combating the captivity industry soon after Kathy, one of the Flipper dolphins, died in his arms committing suicide! he featured in the film 'The Cove' to expose the yearly dolphin killings and capture trade in Taiji Japan that these dolphins end up in captivity at Marine Parks all over the world!

YOU get your facts straight. If you can concentrate long enough watch ALL FALL FROM FREEDOM. Japan is still capturing slaughtering. Open your eyes. They have tiny spaces compared to wild. I don't need to see an animal in a water cage to know about it. I've never seen a dinosaur but I know it exists. If they are so blessed, why do they die so young, attack each other and trainers. Why don't you spend your entire life in one room & perhaps we'll throw you a burger if you do your tricks.

Humans are NOT the only intelligent beings on this planet and we don't have to put animals in a circus to understand them or have fun. How would you like being in a cage and not get a bite to eat unless you perform because Humans I know have gone threw this are haunted by the past everyday and these inelligent animals KNOW whats going on.

Dolphins are extremely smart animals, they have individualistic personality much like our own. Unfortunately, long periods of captivity will make them sick physiologically, some are capable of planing or eliciting premeditated killings of other dolphins. The reason as to why they do this we may never know, but they are smart animals indeed.
Report spam or abuse
They enjoy performing though. To them, it is play. I remember a few years back there was a story about a trained dolphin that was released. It taught the wild pod the tricks it learned while performing, then the pod performed in the wild for fun. There are sides to both arguments for and against captivity. I don't think either side is wrong in their arguments either. Also, many parks get animals from breeding programs. A permit to capture dolphins in the US hasn't been given out since the 80s.

So you think its OK to keep an animal as big as a whale in a fish bowl? They where forced into those tanks, not by choice. They are forced to eat dead fish, not by choice. They are trained like pet dogs to do tricks for humans entertainment, also not by choice. I know trainers get attached to these animals but this kind of negligent misrepresentation of pure wild animals is disgusting. If people want to see marine life they should travel out into the ocean and see them in their true glory!

Positively porpoisely. The rape can be up to five days (the sick pervs). There's a piece on Slate: The Dark Secrets That Dolphins Don't Want You To Know. Seems that our gal, pursuing her grad degree in marine biology, enjoys disabusing some of their Flipper related notions about dolphins. As she puts it: Since my heart is as black and cold as the oceanic abyss, I usually take this opportunity to disillusion yet another poor soul of their childhood fantasy of Mystical Dolphin Love.
