Video Response to Nappy Ass Hair

by gepiphany • 55,361 views

The video entitled 'Nappy ass hair'' whereby a mother is verbally and physically abusing her child through ''combing''/trying to untangle her daughters hair while filming it ...is totally and...

1. ) @Trueserum You said : Thats right, and naps are better than lice! My comment : uh, I guess you are under the impression that black people cant get lice as well ? Sorry to disappoint but Black people can get lice too, I've seen it . The reason most black people DONT get lice is not because of the texture but is because of a lot of the stuff Black people put in the hair like grease and oils, the lice can not latch onto the hair if it is too slippery to hang onto .

yeah that video was very disturbing, that mother needs to go to jail. i feel for that young girl and wish she would be brought up by good people. Thank you for your vid.

Mixed race people are going to have easier to do hair than those of us with REAL naps so lady, come on. Are you just showing off or something? I'm not taking up for the mean momma but damn, you should think about this for a minute.

@poisonflowerivy sweetheard if you can see my profile you would see that i'm from detroit the same city as that little girl and I know her DADDY!!! her father both parents are black and if you see the video you can see her crazy ass mother is a brown skin woman. I don't understand how you THOUGHT!!! she was a biracial little girl but lol ok

Just because you have ways that you would do things if you were to have a child with somebody of another race, does not mean for one minute that you can say what others did/would do in the same situation, or what they thought or put into consideration before having a child. I actually find it funny that you are so close-minded as to make such snap judgements and to think that your way is the only way, and that people must think the same as you do.

Great video...I'm glad you made this.

@HendrixPinkM I'm said it for the right reasons. Those kids go thru a lot. I've never met a biracial child who wasn't tormented about it. They struggle to find their place and in many areas of the world they don't have a peer group. And to top it off most of these parents have no clue what it's like to be them and they don't do anything to help the child cope. They can't relate to them. All they're thinking about is themselves. It's apparent everytime I see them showing them off like pets.

@WhereYaBoss Excuse me? Not everyone is constantly thinking RACE,RACE,RACE. It is possible for people to have mixed-race children without thinking " long and hard before having a mixed child". Not everyone is as overly-dramatic as to question the race of their child before they it to make sure they have an 'easy' life.

i understand and all but alot i mean alot of black ghetto woman do wat the other woman did the only difference is it waz on video so its not abuse

I understand what you was trying to do in this video and she's very beautiful but if you would have showed a black girl hair on how to do it I think it would have been more on point. african american hair is different from hair like that and we should know how to take care of our hair and children hair.....so thanks for trying but......

no it wasnt funny. she was spitful.

This video is amazing, and the other "nappy ass hair" video is ridiculous and sad...

I agree with the vid but on a happier note-AAAHHHH!!! SHE'S ADORABLE! ^_^

@WhereYaBoss They did not think about it, and why should have felt the need to hesitate before having me, I have dont perfectly fine, and so has my whole family. Why should they have thought about something that had no negative effect on my upbringing or life?

I meant to say afro texture hair the little girl in the video had afro texture hair. your right black can be so many things other then african decent, like cuban and mexican. But when I said black I was talking about typical afro texture hair. For your comment all blacks don't have the same textured hair I do know that BUT I would argue that most africans in america and world wide has 4a to 4b hair that's the whole perpose of having AFRO TEXTURED HAIR. I stand by my first comment

wen my hair is a mess i will bbrush my hair in the shower wen i use the shampoo and conditioner it gets rid of most tangles

It was not funny.. She also hit that kid a few times and she said some really nasty words totally inappropriate to use in presence of children. Yes maybe these women need education

Great video. I think every parent of a black or biracial child should watch this. Too few black mothers know how to deal with unstraightened, textured hair. The only thing I would add is that you can safely you a brush on textured hair if you use the right brush and follow the rest of your instructions. My hair is much thicker than your niece's (who is beautiful, BTW) and a knock-off Denman brush or Goody Styling Therapy Jojoba Oil Hair Brush works wonders for me.

@spareld No offense Spareld, you are not completely without a point-helix and wavy hair are slightly different in texture- but anybody with more sense or fewer anger management issues c/would do a better job combing a child's hair than this mother did! Most folks suggested some of the same things this lady did anyway-put moisturizer/conditioner and/or water on the hair, divide the hair into several sections, and then comb. You got a valid point but I am still glad gepiphany made the video.

great video. i was so upset after seeing the other video of the mean crazy mom so this just relieved me seeing women with compassion to young ones! you guys are beautiful!

yeah I know that I wasn't trying to be rude :) I just said my opinion on the situation. she clearly don't have the texture of most african/ american which is fine. A white person could the same thing as far as demonstration. I've seen that video which this lady is referring too and she's not a mixed girl

@HendrixPinkM So you don't think parents should think before having a child? Obviously a lot of parents don't think before having a child. They just have them and hope it works out. But having a child is not a game of luck. People should think about it. They should think long and hard about it. Especially if they're going to have a child that isn't like them racially. That child has special needs and the parents should think about whether they are able to meet them.
Report spam or abuse
ignore them, thats the type of person that you back away slowly from... then wait for them to get owned by a skinned black person

your welcome hunny it had to be done....she needs to be told and learn...and I'm sure she knows, she just did it out of spite and trying to be funny!!!which it wasn't...by the way...off topic you remind me so much of my cousin...hehehe (^_^)

3. ) @Trueserum There are more important things to worry about then having to worry about how to get the lice out of your hair just to have it come back again , just like that. Because of the region and circumstances of a lot of indigenous peoples living situation a lot of natives can't afford a box of NIX or even know what it is for that matter , they have been keeping their hair short for thousands of years for those very reasons I mentioned above. Educate yourself .

cool vid ! Its funny because you're neice looks just like you like she's yours. I thing more women - bi racial or not- has to learn is how to properly maintain thier child's hair and not rake it out like that mom did. cool demo : )

My youngest daughter has tailbone length hair and I detangle it when it's dry. HOWEVER, I do it in very small sections, set aside a lot of time to do it properly, go very slowly, use only my fingers and Coconut Oil, don't pull the hair, work on any knots slowly, start at the ends and work up to top, and give my daughter a task (watch a carton, color in book, play DSi) to pass her time while I detangle. There was no excuse for that mother to behave that way!

it really does not matter if your mixed or not . african american hair is kinky naturally.

I believe the mother knows exactly how to comb through and detangle kinky hair. She abused the childs hair with intention. It looked very deliberate and set out to cause pain. But ur response to the video is a very mature one. Nice one :-)

You are right, that video was sad and it was not funny in any way and I really felt for the child. So I totally understand what you are saying
Report spam or abuse
I agree because I'm high yella and both of my parents are BLACK!
Report spam or abuse
I want to respond to your comment. I have "black" hair that is natural. From my own experience, this lady is quite on point. As long as the hair had some slip via a conditioner or shea butter, plus water and you comb it gently starting from the ends, it is quite effective for detangling.

thank you and you are very welcome

My siblings and I are doing just fine. What do you mean by the sentence "They struggle to find their place and in many areas of the world they don't have a peer group"? Are you saying that everyone has to be around their own race, or people of the same mixture of races as they are to find their place in this world? Please explain.

@HendrixPinkM Everyone says that. Everyone wants to believe their parents just HAPPENED to fall in love and make them. If you were born in the 70's I would refer to you as a kumbaya baby. Born in the 80's, The Cobsy Show effect. Born in the 90's, definitely about hair and skin color. Born in 2000's, The Alicia Keys effect. Now somewhere deep in between all of that was a couple or two who thought long and hard before having their mixed child. Everyone else didn't think and that's my point.
Report spam or abuse
@WhereYaBoss My dad is black and my mum is white. I have never felt alienated because of that fact that I didn't have the same skin as either one of them. They are my PARENTS. I can trust them with anything and everything, I have never once in my life felt like I didn't belong with them. Are you even biracial? Even if you were, you couldn't make such unjustified statements. You say these things as if they are facts, when it is actually just based on opinion. Don't be so blind to the world.
Report spam or abuse
@Dawn0564 and just by looking at a comment you made on another video just proved my point. You would love for this argument to continue. Your coming on this video trying to be as you are pro black and trying to educate someone. But making comments that put down your darker encounters stating that dark blacks have low esteem is rude and flat out untrue. As a fellow black person I care about all shades of my race they are in my life and in my family. show some respect

I live in the caribbean.grew up wearing braids and scarves to protect my curls.living with 90degree plus heat daily, salt water, humidity will damage any hair..curly to kinky hair needs more moisture and to be taken care of.I am latina with 3bhair.Many blk women can have 3b and 3c textures which many uneducated people consider this good hair or spanish hair.More black women and women with biracial kids should protect the childs hair and opt for maximum growth.

@WhereYaBossYes, it is not nice when people have mixed race children just for them to look a certain way. I don't know if you meant it to come across this way, but the line "I am asking people please think twice before you have a mixed child"sounds as if you think that most people have mixed race children for the reasons you stated:light skinned baby etc. If you meant it to come across that way than I disagree and not everyone has mixed race children for that reason, or for any reason.

Your child do not have nappy hair and I am trying to get my child's mixed hair to look like your child's hair. She don't have a bend in her hair anymore and it is so dry. Please tell me why people with this type hair is always talking about how hard it is to comb...come on. Show me a child with hair that is truly nappy and make it look silky. My oldest hair only needed washing and in a couple of days it would straighten out by itself. Her hair accepted moisturizers but not the youngest.

yeah i think that woman in the video did not really love that child nor herself. A real mom would have said omg my baby's hair needs to be WET you cannot detangle it DRY seriously thats not rocket science but maybe they need education on hair care. thank you for showing this HOW it should be done video. I am so disturbed over that video it was awful

@WhereYaBoss I have been trying to deal with this in a mature way, but seriously you are so stupid that its not even possible. What you are saying has no logic and has no justicfication. Even if you just stated your opinion then I would not agree with it , but I would respect it. Its the fact that you are saying things in a matter of fact way with nothing to back it up. Everything you have wrote has shown real stupidity in you. Sorry to go down this road but you pushed it. Bye.

Hey from Texas! I originally watched your video about working on abs. Btw you are such a beautiful young woman-great abs. I WANTED TO WATCH MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS. I came accross this video, and then saw the video Nappy ass hair, I was floored, angry, I felt hurt for the children. I have a bi-racial child, of which you can see on my video "sosuper100". It is very difficult combing long natural hair, but no excuse for what that hateful angry mon did.

@HendrixPinkM Actually I'm quite open-minded and I do think. I'm just asking others to think, as well. You said it yourself, your parents didn't think about it. They just had you.

@everagej Later on she added mixed, african american, afro caribean so I think she meant black people in general. I'm black and after I went natural I didn't how to care for my tightly curled hair. It was difficult but now my hair is thriving and detangling is no problem. There are a lot of black people who don't know proper natural hair care. Even my great aunt is asking me how I got my hair to look so good.
