I saw hair when I was a little boy - my mom and dad took me - when they came to our hometown Warren pa! the story goes that one of the cast talked to the other cast members about coming to warren because she's from warren pa - I have the original album and cassette tape - I still remember them wow a show ! I was wondering are the original cast members get back together for a reunion and are they still alive and what are they doing now these days - address's and website ? Please

Saw the original Boston production of Hair at the Wilbur Theatre.  Went the 1st night when it was raided and shut down by the  police.  Went back 1 week later.  Great production from top to bottom.  The theatre version was superior to the cleaned up(unneccessarly) version.

Did Joe Osborn play bass on this version too, or just the Fifth Dimension version?

Had the off Broadway soundtrack/album before seeing the Broadway version in Chicago in 1968.  The opening was mind-blowing and delightfully unexpected like the rest of the production.  The movie was so-so. Let the sunshine in still can bring tears to my eyes - the message is so sad.

Ronnie's voice is so wonderful :)

Hair was off Broadway, because I saw the Cast doing these songs on Johnny Carson's Tonight show ;) I had that off broadway cast album and it was great! - BETTER IMHO -  The Broadway Album with a few new songs came quickly and the other off-Broadway album sort of faded from view.

I get confused sometimes. as a kid I remember this album cover being associated with a different production of the music with different singers, and not the original cast singing. The version with this album cover,  had a little slicker, and better recorded. Can someone tell me about the two versions?

Yes! Original NYC Cast! It has been digitally enhanced but it's authentic!

There is also a movie cast edition of singers and an off-Broadway album

No comparison between the play and the movie.  The play put you right there with the cast to identify with the music like a "happening" of the 60's.  Great Rock Opera.  The movie removed the viewer from the cast and the songs although the music is great in both venues.

I saw the original production on Broadway in 1969...I remember walking out singing the songs all week...Quite a difference from 90 percent of today's so-called "musicals" where you forget most of the songs as soon as you get up from your seat to leave the theater!

This has been SO utilized by the Madden Brothers. I listened to this as a child.  I still find it relevant as I grow older.

When I was a wayward teenager in the 60's, a gang of us built a tree-house in a friends backyard. (It started out innocently enough, but evolved into a headquarters for all things rebellious that boys of that era could possibly conceive of.)  This was no ordinary "kids clubhouse"; It had two stories, with Bunk-beds, wall to wall carpet, paneled walls, and --most importantly, electricity.  We had TV, of course, and best-of-all, we had Hi-Fi Stetreo!!!      For whatever reasons,  "HAIR", and "IRON BUTTERFLYs' IN A GADDA DA VIDA-  became our gangsta favorites.  We actually played those LP's so many times that we wore-out several albums of each and nailed the  carcasses to the walls like trophys!  Ahh... Those were the days...  my friend...  we thought they'd never end...  But They DID! #FNS   #fridaynightsessions   #onesong   #1000memories   Tag +SCOT M   +Valare Beauchamp +wojciech setlik  Here's a link to IN A GADDA DA VIDA-IRON BUTTERFLY - IN A GADDA DA VIDA - 1968 (ORIGINAL FULL VERSION) CD SOUND & 3D VIDEO

Funny how, listening to the lyrics, the song still applies today; especially when you reach the second part.

That's Ronnie Dyson singing the first lines & the repeats. I know it's true, I read it on Wikipedia! (And that's DEFINITELY his amazing tenor!) RIP Ronnie (1950-1990, heart failure).

I rediscovered this a few years ago, it is one of the greatest films and soundtracks ever made! I can never get tired of listening to this music or watching the film!

I STILL have this album and cover in perfect condition..even though I played it over and over...This was THE music of our day...so far ahead of its time, as were so many of us then. Even today, the words are resounding in relevant vibrations!

That is Ronnie Dyson, latitudeCheck...the best voice I've ever heard in my life, a singer's singer extraordinaire. So underappreciated and unsung. They used to line up around the block to get into this show just hear him stop the show every night, his unamplified huge voice filling the theater to the rafters with a glorious sound. This album cut is NOTHING compared to what you heard in that theater live.

The first show I ever saw on Broadway -- July 1971 at the Biltmore Theater. I was mesmerized. The second selection here, "The Flesh Failures," (Let the Sunshine In) is such a great song..

This is great! Hearing Ronnie Dyson opening up this was a pleasant surprise! Both he and Melba Moore went on from "Hair" to greater fame as recording artists. Heard the Supremes and the Temptations do the full version of "Let The Sunshine In" on the "GIT In Broadway" TV special and have sung it ever since. Please also give the version from Diana Ross & The Supremes' last live performance together a listen (featuring a whole host of guest celebrities) . . .

If this is the 1968 recording of the original Broadway cast of Hair. then the very first voice you are hearing is the phenomenal singer Ronnie Dyson. Ronnie Dyson won the lead role in the Broadway debut of Hair when he was only 18 and sang the opening song Aquarius. Ronnie Dyson later had 2 Top Ten Billboard hits, the first was "If You Let Me Make Love To You Then) Why Can't I Touch You?" which reached the #8 position on the charts followed by "I Don't Wanna Cry" which reached #9.

Most modern arrangements of HAIR do in fact call for a female soloist at the beginning of Aquarius, but the person in this recording is in fact alto Ronnie Dyson.

my cousin is hippie and she sing " Let the sunshine in" EVERY... SINGLE... MINUTE!! is an obsession O.o Anyway, hair is a really good movie, isn'it it?

Joel would sing "every sperm is sacred..etc." He was just trying rather dishonourably to win the chess game. It didn't work. I was rather too old for him to be shocked or even for that matter to notice.

After paying to see Hair one time, we sneaked into the theater another time because we didn't have any money. The ushers were chasing us. We finally landed in the back of the first floor. Both times the musical moved us.
