The Battle-Hollywood Strings/SD2

This is some battle music I made with Hollywood Strings, EWQLSO Gold and Stormdrum 2, meant to be a Hans Zimmer/Harry Gregson-Williams rip-off. Copyright J.D. Russell 2010

how much did you pay for the Hollywood Strings??

@mordy91 Thanks! The modweel controls the vibrato and dynamics in Hollywood Strings, although there are patches that control vibrato and dynamics separately.

@unemployedcomposer I have a 6 gb RAM quad core and it runs smoothly, so you should be able to use it.

Well, if you ever get anywhere, be careful. The motivic phrase is scarily close to the Batman theme. You wouldn't want a lawsuit on your hands ;)

i have to admit the cellos in hollywood strings sound amazing. and with legato they sound so human and real. I wish SO had cellos as good as the ones in hs. maybe one day when i have more than 4 gigs of ram and a 64 bit os ill think of HS.. btw great piece, but i think it could use some more staccato passages for the strings, particularly more warmer passages in the c5 octave. (just my opinion tho)

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me what Stormdrum patches you used that come in at 0:53? I'm new to Stormdrum, and I'm just trying to figure out what patches are best for this kind of epic action oriented film score music. Thanks!

This is great! How do you make crescendos on one long note like you do at 4:00? Do you use the tonewheel, another controller or do you do it afterwords in the software? It sounds so amazingly real! :D

yes, that's true but be aware that the dynamics and volume NOT are the same thing. This is the first plugin i've ever heard where it's not the volume changing to create dynamics on long notes, but actually the dynamics! it's incredible! :D

@R1MusicX No, it's an original composition done in Zimmer's style. Thanks!

@majormixer Thanks! This was just a "jam", but weirdly enough, it did fit perfectly to a war scene I scored once.

@chasseurdechasseur57 Hollywood Strings has legato transitions, and has a warmer and bigger sound than SO

Sounds quite nice. Try to make it sound more powerful. You have the compository skills, but try working with some EQ's, compressors and so on, then this could sound way better!
