This is so beautiful and it makes me cry every time I see it. Season Two was amazing to experience and I will never forget this amazing dance.

This makes me cry everytime.  Mia is amazing.  Travis and Holly's performances were my favorite.  I loved that season and the one that Twitch was one.  I feel in love with Travis and still am and am so glad he continues to amaze on the show.

This is just perfect

This is totally lovely but i think Whitney and Cheon did better #NH

I would love to see Witney do this with Travis. that would be the best.

They had a night when they redid certain Mia Michaels pieces to celebrate her I think

Out of all the seasons I still think this is the best dance ever on the show

OH MY WORD, I watched this and thought the exact same thing. I was about to comment and thought I'd get booed, but everyone agrees! Hahaha
Report spam or abuse
heidi and travis should know that although this happened years ago, this still inspires artists and dancers always. wonderful work. and they should still be so proud to have shared this. absolutely beautiful.

One of my favorite performances :)

I thought the two pieces were different enough to make them both interesting. Both sets of dancers did justice to the choreography. If they were performing on two different stages for different audiences who'd never seen it before, both of those audiences would be well pleased. Good choreography, good dancers. All four of them.

I prefer the original with Travis and Heidi, but Chehon and Witney were good too.

Not an expert or anything, hell, hardly even a real fan, but I think this has been one of the most often sited and requested routines in the show' s history. Not hard to see why. That was moving
Report spam or abuse
what is so amazing is that she was so upset, so worried about doing this and it is one of the most famous dances in the history of the show. Heidi is just amazing.
Report spam or abuse
My take on it is that they were once a couple, and she wants him back but he's moved on from her and thus keeps rejecting her 'flower'.

Ive recently been in this situation where there was a guy who loved me and I loved him back but because of my faith in God i could not pursue the relationship. The worse feeling in the world is either loving someone who wont love u back or wanting to love someone but knowing u cant. Very emotional piece. I can so relate to it. God Bless U, Mia.

Heidi is also a ballroom dancer too. I think both Heidi and Travis worked this.

does anyone know what is this really about? i mean i love this dance, but i would like to know what's the story behind it :)
Report spam or abuse
@AIAIndiana That's a really good point. I hadn't thought about that. I think you're probably spot on. The original dance was likely much more difficult and it was simplified a great deal for her. I would love to see a more balanced version of this dance. I think it would be absolutely brilliant.

The moves he makes with is legs are soo amazing

Heidi was perfect in this. Her face and hands...were beautiful. She had nothing to worry about. One of the top 5 pieces in the history of SYTYCD.

I love how she thinks she cant keep up with him. Although Travis is BY FAR 1 of the MOST talented dancers I have EVER EVER EVER had the enjoyment of watching she makes this piece complete. I have watched it over and over and over and over (i could repeat over but ill stop) again and others have danced it but the 2 of them together make this piece so special! LOVE YOU TRAVIS and Heidi you are absolutely amazing!!

I swear I get goosebumps at 1:28. This was beautiful.
Report spam or abuse
This was actually about the choreographer falling for a guy who loved her back, but he was gay. So their love was never complete (her love=the flower).

Oh my gosh, he's so perfect._. <3

Anybody Know The Story Behind This Routine??
Report spam or abuse
I love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Report spam or abuse
Travis' dancing can make me cry because it is so beautiful....and I just adore Mia!
Report spam or abuse
um heidi didnt do well on that stradle im not an expert but i noticed that
Report spam or abuse
i think that seeing Travis and Witney do this routine would be amazing. Heidi is good but Witney does much better in a contemporary style than Heidi. Which is surprising because Witney is a ballroom dancer. Chehon did a good job but nobody can beat Travis Wall haha.
Report spam or abuse
To be honest, I didnt even realize that Travis was doing most the dancing... I believe that Heidi's part in this dance was vital and without her, there would be no story.
Report spam or abuse
I don't get what was so physically difficult about this routine for Heidi. She's a weeping mess in the intro, but nothing about this piece looked that difficult for her side of it. And she didn't do it that well. This dance performed with Travis and a better dancer, or any couple from the current season (8) would do it much better justice.

@Romero1104 Hi the story behind the routine: remembering and being haunted by the past and someone you love. To Mia it was her father who had passed away. That's why Travis leaves at the end as if he was never there.

although i agree that heidi did too little in this piece... holly fucking shit! his pirouettes! damn i wish to be able to do that.

Report spam or abuse
the girl did absolutely nothing in this routine ......
Report spam or abuse
I agree, I would add one more to the list though. 'If it kills me' it's amazing too and those are my top 3 ♥

I always have a soft spot for the original but I have to admit that Whitney did a good job with this piece, but Chehon couldn't match up to Travis.
Report spam or abuse
even though I have watched this several times, it still gives me chills.
Report spam or abuse
Heidi is does a great job in this routine but, my God! I cannot take my eyes off Travis!
Report spam or abuse
I think travis is one of the most intimidating and most challenging dancers to live up to the standards to set. I haven't seen a male contemporary dancer yet that I think could do that routine and live up to the really high expectations that travis set when he danced. I think cheon did a great job when you consider that he had to recreaet a role that travis had.

My favorite performances of all time in SYTYCD are this and Gravity.
Report spam or abuse
Travis. Travis. TRAVIS is awesome :) and Mia's choreography...wow.
Report spam or abuse
I think this is one of the few times, at least based on the past few seasons, that a contemporary piece has the male dancer doing more dancing and technical movement than the female dancer. truly a testament to how talented and wonderful travis is. it's a shame he didn't win, but he did go on to be one of, if not maybe the, best choreographer on the show.

i love this dance but heidi doesnt even dance she just does a couple toe points
Report spam or abuse
Still my favourite dance that has been on an SYTYCD stage. <3 Absoutely amazing.
Report spam or abuse
@syllaree23 The dance would be nothing without her except another of Travis Wall's solos, which are awesome, but combining the two of them creates a beautiful story. How about we appreciate it instead of cutting people down?
Report spam or abuse
omg I die everytime he goes down the chair at the end to pic up the flower BEST EVER!
Report spam or abuse
I think Whitney (season 9) did it better than Heidi (not saying Heidi did bad). Overall great piece!
Report spam or abuse
such a cute routine! very pleasant to watch :)
Report spam or abuse
Wow. I've seen this piece before and then saw Chehon and Whitney do it. While both pairing did good together I definately liked Whitney over Heidi and Travis over Chehon. I think the reason is because it seemed so natural to travis and whitney, but chehon was worried too much about technique and heidi seems stiff next to travis' smooth movement.

In my mind, nothing on SYTYCD (however much I've loved subsequent seasons) will ever touch this routine - it is perfection. 1:28 and 1:54 = chills, every time.

@LaraLove23 The choreography was probably modified based on what Heidi could or couldn't handle. A lot of choreographers in SYTYCD do that. Also, the standard for getting chosen is much higher now than it was for season 2. Not hating on Heidi, though. She's a fantastic ballroom dancer and she did her best no matter what she was given on this show.

I think Travis danced this beautifully but Whitney did it better than Heidi.

i wish heidi had a bit more to do in the dance it was mostly travis (i know basically every1 else who's commented said that too) though can't stop watching this i<3 the music!

I absolutely love 1:54. The way he comes down the bench with each beat. Lovely!!! And thank you for such great quality elegantyou2009.

Travis is so fucking amazing, everything he does, from dance to choreography, is just amazing and touching. Whenever I think about SYTYCD I think of Travis, and this exact routine
Report spam or abuse
He's my favorite choreographer. Based on this, he would have been my fave dancer too
Report spam or abuse
I remember being swept off my feet when I saw this performed originally in season two. But Mia has just gotten somehow even better and better! And I love the "face-lift" she gave to this dance with Chehon and Witney. I prefer the newer version!!
Report spam or abuse
this routine made me love this show. great choreography, great emotion and great dancing.
Report spam or abuse
Man if you replace Heidi with Melanie Moore... this piece would sky rocket...
Report spam or abuse
this is the best piece on so you think you can dance ever, everything is perfect.

Oh noes! No don't walk away take the flower!!! D:

when he just walks away it's like there is no hope... this slays me

omg i love both his dancing and his dances!!

FRIKIN AWSOME!! and when he rubs his hand along the bench with hers!

She was so insecure during the practice, but she did sooo beautifully. And her facial expressions were perfect.

This piece is about a woman loving a man who can't love her back in the "same" way because he is gay. This is the true story of Mia Michaels. The choreographer who produced this piece.

Amazing Piece! gives me shivers

i love this routines.it later went to win an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography

Nigel explained in this week SYTYCD is that it was Mia's love story. The guy she was in love with is gay and although she really loved him, he couldn't accept her feeling because he knew he would hurt her. The sun flower was the symbol.
Report spam or abuse
I don't really believe that one good dancer in the performance can make the whole piece great. Yeah, they focused on Travis a lot, but I think both of them carried their own weight. Together they were amazing.
Report spam or abuse
The spin that Travis does towards the beginning amazes me every time.
Report spam or abuse
OMG have mercy, I love this routine. Incredible!!

Report spam or abuse
I feel bad for Heidi because Travis really did steal the show with this one. He became Lengend....wait for it....dary! LEGENDARY!
Report spam or abuse
saw the remade from s9 and no one cud beat travis

now knowing the meaning behind mia michael's coreography for this dance makes it so much better
