The Top 10 BEST Beers of 2009

by Chad9976 • 9,891 views

Everyone loves a "Top 10" list, right? So I thought I'd do a list of the 10 best beers I reviewed for the first time in 2009 regardless of their release date. This list is simply a PERSONAL...

Which shouldn't be surprising considering he's an elitist beer fag.

no one, eh? Then why am I one of the top beer reviewers on youtube and in the blogosphere? Also bear in mind this was from 2009. It's 2012 now. I've come a long way from then. Yes, glassware does make a difference, but not a HUGE difference. The average person wouldn't notice a difference between a tumbler and a tulip glass. More sophisticated palates, maybe. I think a lot of that is a placebo effect anyway.

@Chad9976 my dear beer friend, I mean that you do not drink beer from the original glass...

@olsztyn44 you dont have to drink a beer from the official glass to get the full effect. Beer glassware is more for marketing purposes than practical purposes.

@Zm3t3k I was in the Czech Republic/Prague about six months ago. Visited Plzeň and had Urquell straight from the barrel, visited Zlý časy, Pivovarský klub a few times, Prague Beer Museum, U Medvídků and a few other places... drank a number of bottles there and even brought some back (all stuff we don't get in America). The Czech make good beer. America makes better beer. Or, at least, MORE good beer. Obviously just my opinion, though.

why he never used original glasses???

Red Sox AND Mets??? c'mon...thats ridiculous.

You should visit Norway then, here we have to pay around 10 - 15 $ for ONE bottle!

Went out tonight and bought the Dog Fish IPA & Sierra Nevada torpedo extra ipa. I would agree the Dog Fish is a better IPA but both are good beers. $20 for 12 beers any way you cut it is expensive. Keep up the good work

dutch poeple call thr own beer "owl-piss", even in a pub they give it to you in a 20 cl. glas so you dont get piosend, i prefer more the belgian beers.

@chad9976 hey I like the rogue chocolate stout and I gave one to my friend and he says he doesn't taste any chocolate. He isn't a dark beer drinker but I'm trying to make him one. Do you think I can make him come around with the youngs, founders porter or the breakfast stout. Or maybe s.t. Choklat? And also I've been looking for reviews for chocolate rain by the bruery.

Dudeee, i wass abouttt to buy that oatmeal stout today, but decided against it. Guess i missed outtt. Damn. haha

pretty good list. i like a lot of them, were ones i reccomended for you, as much as we differ in taste on some beers, its pretty cool, when it comes to what we think are the best of the best, were both almost completely agree.

@fredenronnygamingHD I've reviewed them all. Check out my all-beer review channel chadzbeerreviews

@CantBeTouched91 that's because the beer that needs a piece of fruit added to it (i.e. Blue Moon, Corona) are crappy beers and the fruit is there to distract you from the otherwise lame palate. Rogue Chocolate Stout and Southern Tier Pumpkin drink and taste like real beer with additional flavors. They're not marketing gimmicks like a lot of lesser breweries fruity wheat beers. Check out the scores they get on Rate Beer Advocate.

This guy LOVES Samuel Smith's nut. He finds it really tasty.

@TheGrandOleHopry1 sweet! can't wait to see it.

@Salvypride900 Corona is not real beer. It's really flavored water.

Rogue FTW.. (I'm from Oregon) <3 the green state.

Excellent list. There were a few on there that I would put in my top 20 beers of all time. If you like the dogfish head 60 minute you should also try Dales Pale Ale in a can. Not quite the punch but a great beer and it's in a can! I really like how refreshing both of them are. A great dinner is some chedder fondue with dales, a glass of dogfish 60 minute, a kona porter new york strip with a Shakespeare stout beer float. It's an amazing adventure for your palette.

@fredenronnygamingHD I have drunk most of these, I love Belgium beers, they seem like the only ones that know how to make beer :D I have heard lots about duvel, do you happen to know if it is sold in the states?

I can't say that it is the best IPA, but when it comes to enjoying a beer and not being a snob while doing it...Rochester Mills Cornerstone IPA is a great beer especially on a fall or even winter night. Good stuff. Only comes in 16 oz. six pack cans though.

@Salvypride900 Lol, Corona is total shit and Tsing Tao has no flavor to it whatsoever.

compared to what you pay at a bar or restaurant, $20 for 12 beers is cheap (less than $2 a bottle). Yeah those are great beers. I'd drink them every week if I could.

pumpking is the best beer ive ever had, it made me happy to see it up here!

@debbaOfTheFlanders just do a search for the beer and add "Chad'z" and my review will come up.

@jjrudy41 Well as you can see from the comments section here is that other beer reviewers are going to do a Top 10 and/or a "year in review" video. I'd encourage to do one!

@VideoBeerReviews I had a feeling I was either going to inspire other beer reviewers to do a Top 10 list, or at the very least I'd just beat y'all to the punch! ;)

This is a good Idea so, I made my own list from the beers I have tried in 2009 these are not in order: Chimay White Trappist Triple DuVel DFH 60 min IPA DFH 90 min IPA Goose Island Bourbon County Stout 2009 WestMalle Trappist Triple Stone Vertical Epic 09 09 09 Old Rasputin Imperial Stout from North Coast Brewing Stone IPA Ballast Point Big Eye IPA

It's assinine to suggest that Beer should be reviewed while sober. It's also ridiculous to think beer tastes better with a buzz. By your logic Olde English 800 would taste delicious by the time you got to the bottom of the bottle. I may be a little buzzed in some of my reviews but I'm not hammered. And no, pigs ass wouldn't taste good to me even after 100 beers.

@Imasofat I was exaggerating. It's closer to about 160.

@Salvypride900 Tsingtao made my worst of 2009 list

Thank you for the list. 60 min IPA is a personal favorite of mine too. I look forward to each new episode-keep up the good work!

@cici98lv I would love to make a living drinking and reviewing beer but I'm afraid I'd get sick of it. I don't drink to get drunk. I hate being hungover.

@jjrudy41 Yeah I hope you'll do a Top 10 list. That would be awesome!

@Zm3t3k I just reviewed four beers from the Czech Republic a few weeks ago. They weren't that good.

@arveloz28 check out my video "The Blind German Hefeweizen Challenge" in which my friend and his wife and I blind tasted six different German beers to see which we liked the best. I have reviewed the Weihenstephaner, and I do like it. I want to give it a re-review in 2011.

@MrRocambolesco I hadn't drank it then so how could it possibly make the list? I drank it this year and it won't make the best of 2011 either.

How often do you drink to get drunk Chad?

#9 Schneider Weisse Hefeweizen, why don't you replace your #9 with Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. I've done quite a pew comparisons from friends and the Weihenstephaner wins everytime. Not to knock back Schneider Weisse in any way it's still one of my fav. beers. I suggest you try it if you haven't. Great review though!

@Chad9976 Dont make any videos of beer till u havent been in czech republic.

You must not know your beers AT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL FOO. Cuz the best beers in the whole mutha-fuking world are Pilsener (EL SALVADOR), Corona (MEXICO), and Tsing Tao (CHINA)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Report spam or abuse
that is why no one thinks you're a good beer advocate.... different beer needs a different glass, and different beer tastes different. glassware makes a difference, beer should be poured and drank like it's meant to be, if you cannot review it that way, just give up. your ignorance is too much to give you credit for anything you say. please learn how to drink and taste beer before you think you can review it and give it a rating. You honestly sound like a 15 year old reviewing porno...
