Daze of Innocence, I would never have heard this one either except for Dad.

In true Willie Nelson style,  he wrote about my life... on so many occasions!  To have such talent to put such life changing moments to music,  so I guess I'm NOT ALL that SPECIAL after all... if a world class artist vocalizes in song,  what I've felt so many terrible times, almost to the point of not being able to find the words to even describe it...then to hear it just as I lived it, REALLY speaks to the character, heart and soul of Willie Nelson!  Thanks Willie!

Willie Nelson could sing the phone book and make it sound captivating.  Great song though, true.  Love the Fender Rhodes Piano and the slow feel.  A classic.

Great cover of Gary P Nunn. Track taken from his huge 1982's "Always On My Mind" oeuvre.

Willie does this good, but I like to hear the original writer, Gary P. Nunn, sing it! He wrote it back in the '70's.

This has to be my all-time favorite song. Thank you, Mr. Willie Nelson. Like 'The Possum' once sang, '...this old world is is full of singers but just a few were chosen to tear your heart out when they sing.' You, Willie, most definitely are one of those few.

Why is it when your relationship goes to shit, seems like everything just goes to hell in a hand basket right behind the break up. (sigh)

IIRC,this is a old Rodney Crowell song. Willie and practically everybody on the planet has covered it,though.

@joshuabrooks21 I've got that CD, too. I agree with everything you said, except I liked this song from the first time I heard it.

This is a really good song that drives right up my road, seems like we lose to many loves in todays hussel and bussel, To many hearts break, to many forget the reasons they fell, and then want to change the other, One to many loves have walked away in one form or another,,,none of us are perfect,,
