by samoshitt • 121,300 views

A clip from Terrence Malick's film Badlands from 1973, starring Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek.

Badlands is a great movie, and Martin and Sissy are fantastic in it. I love the dancing in this scene, so cute!

God this piece is so mesmerizing--their strange dancing goes along perfect with the song. This was a movie I thought I was disappointed by, but it has grown on me a lot since my viewing, and I'm feeling it pull me back in; can't seem to get it out of my head.

@squeapler I don't think she was done... You could clearly see, at the end of that particular scene, the makeup brush going back to her eye for more. Looks like she was trying to pull off the mod look (aka Twiggy/Edie Sedgwick).

Sissy has feline eyes and barefoot turns the entire world on!

Why do I love this so much? Irrelevant indelible impromtu dance sessions of mine own perhaps.

I wish this scene was longer.

Im a huge fan of Terrence Malick, but this movie is surely the best, well still my point of view of curse : poetic, beautiful pictures, amazing actors, the music too ! everything's great.

@squeapler It was the 1950s, maybe there weren't so many mags. of the sort you refer to? & those that did exist not so readily available in more rural areas? & there's the controlling Father too.

Was that Sissy Spacek? It looked like her and if it wasn't it was her identical twin.

@memento313 sweet, how do you know this? I mean was this something Tarantino said in the commentary?

How could any teenage girl be so stupid as to not know how to wear eye makeup? Did she not ever read a fashion magazine in her life?

Man, I hope the people making all the stupid make-up comments are 12 years old. First of all, it's set in the very late 50's, maybe early 60's, so Twiggy might be a little anachronistic. She's clearly trying to imitate the sloe-eyed fashion models/actresses in the magazines she's reading throughout the movie--and doing a bad job of it, like ALL teenagers do. Especially today.
