Increase Boot Speed for Windows Vista or 7

by quesomanrulz • 83,742 views

http://quesomanrulz.com/ / http://twitter.com/quesoman - Did you know that the average person boots up their computer 2 times a day and that the average boot time for a Windows Vista PC is 3...

so after doing all those will get shutdown to drop back on fast track like getting the laptop or pc out of the box? I have very slow shutdown problem, it takes like a 1min to 2min shut down.

Why would you want to "Increase" your boot time??? Surely it would be better to be 'Decreasing' start-up time so machine boots faster!!!

tunexp wont install... some kind of error (win xp)

@MrBlackNova the i3 is just the version of the cpu. not the amount of logical processors. Most i3 have 2 cores and 4 logical processors so use all 4
Report spam or abuse
increased boot by 5 seconds. but no flashy light disply on startup :[ haha
Report spam or abuse
who can u write tha when your computer is broke ö.ö
Report spam or abuse
The System Configuration is misleading. Changing the # of processors being used is redundant. If you leave it unchecked, it uses all of the available processors. If Win7 detects 4 cores it will automatically use all 4 cores.

My wait to kill time was 12000 in W7
Report spam or abuse
@TheRES74 Might be 4 physical cores, but 8 threads, which means it's gonna show up as 8. Anyways, enabling all 8 will increase it.

LMAO you sound like a pu55y kid.

excelent men 5/5 stars the video bye

Increasing the boot speed would increase the boot time. Think about it, if I'm racing a car, and I complete one lap faster than the previous time, I decreased the time it would have taken me.
Report spam or abuse
omg be very careful when using the program at the end!!! i almost fucked my computer up so do be careful!!
Report spam or abuse
my average boot time is 1minute and 20seconds with windows 7

Why do you keep saying "Increasing boot time"?
Report spam or abuse
where did you get your mouse theme can you send it to me
Report spam or abuse
The PC will only boot as fast as its hard drive. Buy an SSD.

The "Number of processors" option is for LIMITING the number of cores/processors that Windows uses during boot. Windows will ALWAYS use the maximum number of cores for parallel processing during boot and operation without this setting being checked. This MYTH has been put up so many times, even by reputable publications, it's become a standard 'smoke and mirrors' speed up trick that some people actually insist they can see a difference, even though no testing has ever shown it to actually work.
Report spam or abuse
Great video! However, the "rearrange boot files" is sort of unnecessary for Windows7 since the OS does this automatically once a week.

i did everything u said, i count the timing. With default setting, 40 sec, with ur setting, 1 minute and 10 sec, or it maybe my computer is Awesome!!!

Report spam or abuse

Report spam or abuse
mine says core 2 duo. so 2 processors right
Report spam or abuse
@halo3masterable I have a solid state drive. I'd like to see your Alienware boot faster than that.
Report spam or abuse
No GUI boot: Doesn't make a difference. It only changes when the GPU driver is initialized. It'll still take the same amount of time to init whether it's loaded in the beginning or the end of the boot process. Multi-Core Boot: This is actually a myth. Windows uses all your cores for booting.

Simple use reginout it will enhace ur system more than it try it give it a chance

Report spam or abuse
my windows 7 takes about 2 minutes to boot up, my my vista was alot faster. and iv done all the tweaks that i know of... (intel core 2 duo cpu E8400 @3.00GHz, 4 GB of RAM, new windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. please help
Report spam or abuse
Well considering that your processor runs at 3.4 ghz and you have 4gb of high frequency ram that's not surprising. Very few have that type of performance though compared to all the people that purchase computers as those generally have lower quality hardware.
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
they dont boot faster. it all depends on the hardware and all you have that comes up on start.
Report spam or abuse
I installed windows 7 in the time it took to watch this video
Report spam or abuse
gud tips but it dosen't work for me , so some of my friend told about reg in out registry cleaner, i have downloaded that, and run first i thought this will also not work, but after running i seen the results my win 7 is much faster, nearly it's look likes new win 7, u gyus can try this it will work for u
Report spam or abuse
Number of processors in MSConfig means the actual number of physical processors in the system, not cores. So that "tweak" isn't doing anything.
Report spam or abuse
but anyway thanks for the video
Report spam or abuse
@Insane360Gamers yes but won't that shorten the life span of your computer, leaving it on when you're not using? sleep mode power is still going through the system i think hence why it wakes up quicker then hibernation

@JACOBFLARSEN im sure that not even i7 has 8 cores you probably have 4 cores with hyperthred...
Report spam or abuse
@stamosgang you clicked on no gui boot. so that was supposed to happen if you clicked on it. all it does is turn off the pretty pictures when you are turning on your computer.
Report spam or abuse
hey, u play combat arms europe or american and anyway nice vid my windows 7 is double the speed now
Report spam or abuse
You know, it depends on the hardware, but i guess you wouldn't know that seeing as macs have crappy un upgradeable hardware.
Report spam or abuse
Lol its because i got 8 CPU's noob :) you are just crying because of your noob PC with 1 cpu.
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
@JACOBFLARSEN The number of CPU's available in that list increases as you get more cores. So you got 8 cores, then it should also show up 8 cores available.
