This is by far their best song. I rocked this out on acid in the 90s. Awesome fun.

So theoretically money can buy happiness, but there's a catch to thay. Once you have a yearly salary of $75,000, money won't make you any happier. So why the fuck are you twats so obsessed with making the other seem like a peasant. Money doesn't fucking matter, just chill out and listen to the music, don't bitch because your so well off. Plus making such a scene about having such a large salary makes it seem like your compensating for something, maybe your little buddy is a little smaller than the average, hell maybe his only friend is lefty, and lefty likes choking him. ;) (this is aimed at the guy with the supposed weekly salary of 100,000)

Why are people always comparing every 90's band to Nirvana? Just sit back and enjoy the music.
Report spam or abuse
+AllysiaShayBird Everything 90s is almost judged musically to be pre/post nirvana. The mans death polarized music. It happens way more than it should.
Report spam or abuse
+Dirtbeast Angrypit There's a reason things are judged pre/post Nirvana. Because music and it's image changed the moment they arrived on the scene, and it less-drastically changed again the moment Kurt died. Nirvana, as a charting band, only lasted 3 years. But their impact is still felt in music today...just in a more watered down blah way.

So strange... I paused the video at 2:01, and noticed an electronic schematic for a distortion pedal. I've seen this video a thousand times over the past 23 years, and never noticed that before.
Report spam or abuse
+Barackmed Alibama I've seen that before. Never actually paused to take a closer look, but yeah you are right :)

This is where Corgan tells anyone of interest to shut up and let him do his thing. Totally underrated songwriter/ guitarist.

+Sam Martin Agree on all counts. Have you seen that spit-fire solo he pulls off at the 15:13 mark in  'Gossamer' ( 'If All Goes Wrong' dvd )? Friggin' mind blowing.

+Barackmed Alibama LOLZ Albini is a hilarious little nerd. The guy who worked with Nirvana and Bush has the nerve to lecture us on "flavors of the month". Altho he may have been right about the other 2 bands, Siamese Dream is better than ANYTHING he has produced

The wall of guitar sound in this song just blows my mind. Play loud to get the most benefit from this awesome song. BTW, the lyrics are NOT about the Chicago music scene but about a HONEY, who was righteous & could guide these rockers to ultimate stardom.

Used to love this band back in the day. Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream, Nirvana's Nevermind, Soundgarden's Superunknown, Pearl Jam's Vitology (Ten too, but for me it was mostly Vitology), STP's Core, Alice In Chains' Dirt and Metallica's black album were some of my favorites. Of all the bands I used to listen to back then, NOW all I really listen to are Weezer's blue album and Pinkerton.

A rare occurence for me- this is the song that hooked me on the Pumpkins. The instrumentals are so appealing to me, that I when I think of the song, I still often don't immediately remember that it has vocals.

+musicforthewin2 From what I remember, he wrote this song about all of the bullshit involved with record companies. How they dictate music trends, and they only care about the band/artist as long as they're trendy and making money for them.

The solo is awesome. Simple but gets you in the gut.

It's awesome because it doesn't follow a typical solo pattern of 500 notes in ascending and descending scale runs. It's short and simple, yet still maintain's a flow about it.

+Nicholas Pankau I agree. Vocals placed deeper in the mix presents the voice as another instrument, instead of an upfront focal point. Kind of the difference between singing and humming. With them presented more as an instrument, you're not so concerned with the actual lyrics as you are with how it fills in with the other instruments. That's what I really liked about the early to mid 90's music. it was more about the mood and flow to a particular song than it was about the in your face vocals and cheesy predictable lyrics as were prominent in the 80's.
