Is America really 178th on infant mortality? sounds wrong to me.

This video convinced me that not all Americans are arrogant fools. Well done

Typical of kids these days... They suddenly flash their phones, record and post the vid on their stupid social networking sites saying you have a "meltdown", when in fact you're just telling the simple truth... This scene was the best scene of the series... it was all downhill from there.

A lot of good in this Sorkin rant, oh, except for his nostalgia about a past that was only good for white men. America was so great because of MEN who were "revered"? We stood up for what was right? We cared about our neighbors? Yeah, say that to Malcolm X, Susan B Anthony, Matthew Shephard. Say that to the Japanese Americans who we held in internment camps during World War II. Say that to the black men who we lynched and set on fire through the Civil Rights movement. Say that to the women who were imprisoned and beaten for trying to vote. We may have done all those things, but only with and for people who were just like us. Dunno about you, but I don't want to return to the past as much as I want to recognize that things like this are happening and still happening, that we've made baby steps, but not great leaps for man kind.

" Nah guy, this show is garbage, especially compared to West Wing." Brilliant OPINION there, sans one example, fact or real reason for it. Bra...vo. " The dialogue is silly and inorganic as fuck among other things." AGAIN: NO actual examples, just arrogant assertion. Epic fail. " It's great as a satire though, but that's not what it's going for. " says the Emmy award winning writer...oh, wait. "Calling it brilliant lol i bet you think you feel smart by watching it. " Not half as smart as you sadly feel by making that brain dead, fact free post.

I can do without the nostalgia... but it nails one big thing... We weren't so afraid. We walked to school, believed in vaccination and education... Then we were willing to demand something for the whole country of our politicians without just giving up, because we are afraid of failure or they are afraid of not getting elected. Now some kid puts fireworks in a pot and we make a national show of cowering... Waiting to be subjugated... At least on flight 93 they still bothered to "roll".

Explain to me the mystical properties of the amendments.  In another conversation, someone told me that if the police came rolling down their street with tanks, they would lock the doors.  If the police kicked in their door, they would shoot them. First off, the end result would be in this person I was speaking to being shot himself.  I'm 99% sure that the military, with all of their badass weaponry is going to take out whatever this random has for weapons in his home made bunker.   So I question the legitimacy of the second amendment.  I'm not going to argue responsible gun owners, they exist.  However, the US is losing it's grip on 'gun control' period.  There are too many whackos with weapons that think it's perfectly okay to start shooting people for "tramping on their rights".  You'd shoot a cop for entering your house without a warrant?  People legitimately think this way?  What makes the amendments different from any other law that has been changed and amended (ironically) to better suit the world we currently live in compared to the world in which they were initiated 235 years ago.  I mean, we can all agree the world changes, correct?  Other laws adjust and with good reason.   Before you answer with "freedom this and that" I'm going to go right ahead and post that link to The Newsroom. Reform is necessary in all facets of society, First Aid changes, parenting changes, law changes, television changes... you guys need to smarten up and realize you have a real problem on your hands that needs to in one way or another be dealt with.  Whether that includes losing your weapons or better registration and accountability of gun ownership, I don't know... but figure it out.

You misunderstand the entire purpose of the second amendment, and misinterpret those that would physically fight for it.

Just in case you accidentally wander into a voting booth one day, there are some things you should know, and one of them is that there is absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we’re the greatest country in the world. We’re seventh in literacy, twenty-seventh in math, twenty-second in science, forty-ninth in life expectancy, 178th in infant mortality, third in median household income, number four in labor force, and number four in exports. We lead the world in only three categories: number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending, where we spend more than the next twenty-six countries combined, twenty-five of whom are allies. None of this is the fault of a 20-year-old college student, but you, nonetheless, are without a doubt, a member of the WORST-period-GENERATION-period-EVER-period, so when you ask what makes us the greatest country in the world, I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about?! Yosemite?!!! We sure used to be. We stood up for what was right! We fought for moral reasons, we passed and struck down laws for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbors, we put our money where our mouths were, and we never beat our chest. We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, explored the universe, cured diseases, and cultivated the world’s greatest artists and the world’s greatest economy. We reached for the stars, and we acted like men. We aspired to intelligence; we didn’t belittle it; it didn’t make us feel inferior. We didn’t identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election, and we didn’t scare so easy. And we were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed. By great men, men who were revered. The first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one—America is not the greatest country in the world anymore.

We are not the greatest nation because we no longer have morals.  We change, as the political correctness winds blow and as our puppet masters require. We are no longer guided by, nor make decisions based upon the constancy of moral values.   We came to the fork in the road and made the wrong choice.  http://youtu.be/YI7Oq8y-jXA

+Markku Saarelainen that is sorta like being "almost" pregnant.  You are either moral or you are not.  And it is an example that no matter how much "good" you do, that one bad thing follows you, and "represents" you for all time.  And if being the world leader has little to do with morals, then you have your explanation of why we are in the current position we are in with the BO admin and the Syrian debacle. Lies, lies, lies.

Love Aaron Sorkin, but disagree with his shot at the Millennial generation. Millennials have been voting in higher numbers than young people in the 80s and 90s. In fact, Millennials have voted at more than 50 percent since we became eligible to vote in 2004, 2008 and 2012. On the other hand, young Americans of the 90s never voted at about 35 percent.

If you really want to rate as "greatest" then that isn't a good measure. For me, not bombing the shit out of a country for no apparent reason, providing healthcare for all your citizens regardless of their ability to pay, providing good education to all, small inequalities between rich and poor (that makes people happiest)...these make a country great. You probably want to try Scandiwegian countries Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland...maybe New Zealand. Definitely not the USA.

You obviously know very little about economics. As its been said countless times before and even on this channel, the EU is a single monetary economy, with free movement of trade and regulated commercial/industrial infrastructure... not unlike how the US is a collection of states doing the same. and then you introduce a straw man fallacy with Greece and Spain; however forget the fact that AL, TN, SC, NC, MS, LA, AK, WV, KY, OK, NE, etc all have GDP's lower than 3rd world countries. CHECKMATE!

Not true at all. Highest GDP does NOT equate to the greatest country. Using that logic China is the 2nd best country on the planet, and Brasil is 6th, ahead of the UK. GDP alone is near worthless, what is FAR more important is GDP per capita (where the United States ranks 9th). Even GDP per capita though, there are several other factors to consider when proclaiming the greatest country. All things considered, Singapore smokes the US, but the weather is brutally hot, so I'd never live there.

Hey Scott, I see you have resorted to inane ramblings. Spain and Greece, your "strawman fallacies" already defaulted, hence no debt. They have a B- (junk) rating. 27 of the top 50 European banks have negative ratings. You can find all this info on S&P, Moody's, & the IMF site. Also, check out our Treasury's current Annual Report on U.S. Holdings of Foreign Securities. I'm not arguing with a moron who claims America has no authority over the IMF - we founded it, funded it, and we control it.

like when i was in high school we had a robotics club that promoted Math and Science and intellectual creativity. You may have even heard of the programs FRC and FIRST. But the school administration did everything they could year after year to make it harder to continue the program by cutting out funding down to basically nothing in favor of the sports programs that were a joke in our small town. its just ridiculous that people cant see the benefit of a academic program over sports these days.

I might be naive but this whole country needs to attempt to create some type of reset button and press that bitch. Our countries morals have to change , doesn't anyone else get that feeling that something is really fucking wrong with this country.

Yep and that's a fair analysis from someone raised there who knows what it's like day in day out. But i wasn't speaking out on someone like you, just people elsewhere in the world who have never set foot in the US and think that all they need is an opinion from someone like you to confirm that the Usa is a dumb fat nation who love killing Afgan's. Yep the Govt is different to many countries, but also the same as others. You may not be the best, but you're certainly not the worst that many want.

All that nationalistic patriotic bullshit they brainwash into the populous of the US, left over from the cold war, is only to fool you idiots into justifying the absurd socialist spending into US defense

Scott, that's absurdly inaccurate. Florida has a GDP... Do they have their own currency? Comparing the EU as opposed to individual countries actually hurts your argument. Spain and Greece have 30% unemployment and half the UE owes us a ton of money. We own over 1 trillion in UK short and long term debt & securities. We have absolute authority (veto power) over the IMF and World Bank. We own by far the most gold. We can destroy any country in the EU, even Germany, at least a dozen different ways.
Report spam or abuse
Keng, i totally agree. Something that is even worse is when schools cut other funding that goes to help special needs children. A friend of mine has a younger brother who is severely autistic and his mom had to pull him out of school because the school wasn't even trying to help him at all. they were basically just passing him up so they didn't have to deal with him, and even fired the only teacher they had employed to help kids like him.

Um, Ok? We are recovering from two recessions and both banking and housing crises. 75% of the world is in severe economic crisis right now. This video is not meant to spark anti-American non-sense. It is meant to summon a lick of inspiration to a pathetic and idiotic generation (of which I am a part of, sadly). The video is trying to show Americans as a whole that we are no longer the top dogs and the only way to regain our WWI and post WWII status is to better ourselves as a nation.

You dont quite understand that its a global community: as long as there is the Asian Pacific Rim (AU to CH to Japn) & the EU, the US falls third behind them. US has no absolute authority; they have the least influence of all; due to trade agreements, the US's desperate dependency on these economies and markets to survive, the US asks "how high" when demanded to 'jump!' In fact, there is already a long list of low standard PROHIBITED AND BANNED goods from the US, which is crippling to US.

The problem we have, is MONEY, the only incentive money brings is chaos, and basically everything that is wrong on earth. Green paper should not be one's happiness, or passing laws to restrict and punish, by putting laws we disconnect from the problems. Instead of curing hunger and poverty and theft and murder we just smack laws on it, we play this game that is fixed to control our aspects of life, and yet we are to blame when one of us fails at it, when the entire game calls for it. Wake up.
