Marty, I think you're a great teacher. Also, there seems to be a theme with guitar teachers that you have gone completely against, and thank god. Thank you for not wearing really tight jeans and subjecting everyone to your moose knuckle! Thanks again.

The low E can be added to the E9, gives that bassy sound.

so its B major scale for B7 and B minor over E and F#, rite? yes I'm newbie.
Report spam or abuse
you can do either minor or major on the 5th chord. in this case the 5th chord is the f#.  but that is "rite"

it's too fast bro, you want to teach us or just want to show?
Report spam or abuse
ever heard from slowing down replay...or anything like this.... if you want to learn, you should be able to stop and start the replay for example. How would you like it,,,,?  Blues has something to do with feeling and some things you cannot play slower (he is doing his best to do it step by step  ) If you do not get this...maybe you should learn another instrument. I think its very usefull what he is doing and I like it

WTF is with you... His DVD's are awesome, they helped me and everybody else very much and you can get a lot more there than on youtube. It's good enough that Marty teaches this but giving all his knowledge for free??? No way man, how does a guitar player make a living. He is not Van halen so he can put up a massive preformance that will host 100k people... He found another way to earn money.

Sorry for my English... The problem [for me]is how to hit strings, Not how to move fingers...you know... You always show how to move fingers on the chords but hardly to see when you hit the strings to make sound....there are 6 strings but which one that i should hitttt T____T

Find a scale, any key works. And then put on a backing-track in the same key and improvise!

Hi, i've just started playing blues and I could use someone else's experience to help me out. So like I said I just started playing blues ( i've got a bit of experience in other genres but nothing really impressive) and I don't really know where to start. I know Marty got some great lessons, but with wich one should I start? What should I learn first? I only now the really really basic blues rythme and my minor pentatonics. Could someone give me some advice where to start? thank you :)

Hey bro, I have also only recently got into blues (3-4 months now), and I love playing it, and soloing and shit like that, and the way i started was simply learning the minor pentatonics, and some other scales, then sort of learning some nice blues songs (start off slowly), and then I just kind of started practicing with some nice slow backing tracks, and from there, you just kind of get into it, and eventually it will just kind of slip into your hands. Hope it helped bro, keep playing :)

@lakanasopajan1989 When he shows the chord, forexample he shows E maj 7 add9 chord X76777, the X stands for the string you do NOT play. The rest you do play, what he is doing in this video, is strumming, but he mutes the strings with his palm afterwards in a single motion. E.g, he strums down, and then uses the meat of his hand, to mute the strings afterwards, creating a precussive typical blues feel/atmosphere. hope this helped a little, if you want more info, please pm me.
