This sample is from "GAYATRI MANTRA" by Ravi Shankar Les comparto éste mantra que estoy escuchando empezando mi mañana, lo pueden cantar en la ofi, mientras caminan por la calle...todo el tiempo. Gayatri Mantra (Savitr) 108 Repetitions "We meditate on the glory of that Being who has produced this universe; may He enlighten our minds." -Swami Vivekananda Savitar or Savitr represents the sun, but not our sol, but the sun of suns, from which all knowledge, illumination and enlightment comes from.

@Everyone else: Ever see a black, blob-like, and powerfully negative FEELING creature, when hugging someone? It's in your minds 'eye' and looks like shiny black wrapping paper with white highlights on the edges. *[As if the person's soul (light) is enveloped, but still poking out from the edges.] (Although it does look separate from the person; perhaps a separate entity.) Thank You!

Gaayatri Mantra chanting is very melodious. Vedic connotations  are almost correct too. Pacing is beautiful. I may suggest add 'Tureeya Gayatri' also with it. May Gaayatri bless us all.

You think there's two suns? That's strange and hard to believe. I've never heard of a sun inside a sun. This is interesting.I like to say namast'e( I honor the light within you.).Shed some light on this subject. ;)

Dear Marie, Gayathri Mantra's understanding, is one external sun which we all know, and other is the internal Sun ( our  Consciousness ) both of which are divine to which we pray.

Hello, I enjoyed your video explanation of the Gayatri mantra.  Is this something I can begin doing as part of my spiritual practice even through I have had no prior experience with it? Are there noticeable actual physical and or psychological effects that arrive due to chanting it. Must it be done with beads? How long should I chant?  Thank you so much… Mike

+profanatio Mike , Chanting is good, but getting into the meaning is most important with respect to this mantra. It means in simpler terms " I am meditating on the Almighty who has created everything in this Universe and the Universe itself , and who is realized by Om Bhu Bhuva Suvah, as a light which removes the darkness ( not in the literal sense ) , but the one inside.

GYATRI MANTRA" the most powerful hymn in the world ! May be of some Interest to some of us !! Dr.Howard Steingeril, an american scientist, collected Mantras, Hymns and invocations from all over the world and tested their strength in his Physiology Laboratory… Hindus' Gayatri Mantra produced 110,000 sound waves /second ! This was the highest and was found to be the most powerful hymn in the world. Through the combination of sound or sound waves of a particular frequency, this Mantra is claimed to be capable of developing specific spiritual potentialities. The Hamburg university initiated research into the efficacy of the Gayatri Mantra both on the mental and physical plane of CREATION... The GAYATRI MANTRA is broadcasted daily for 15 minutes from 7 P.M. onwards over Radio Paramaribo, Surinam, South America for the past two years, and in Amsterdam, Holland for the last six months. "Om Bhoor Bhuwah Swah, Tat Savitur Varenyam, Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi, Dhiyo Yo Nah Pra-chodayaat !" "It's meaning: God is dear to me like my own breath, He is the dispeller of my pains, and giver of happiness. I meditate on the supremely adorable Light of the Divine Creator, that it may inspire my thought and understanding." This is a great information worth circulating and sharing with one and all !! Rest depends on us how we react to our own heritage http://youtu.be/zxa7Z6NCgqg

This is a beautiful mantra...but I wonder what you mean by "it produced 110,000 sound waves per second"?  This statement is practically meaningless scientifically.

Tomorrow is summer solstice. Try chanting this mantra for enLIGHTenment and healing, the Gayatri Mantra. chant 108x in as the sunrises or right before or sunset for extra power. It means: "Oh Creator! Thou art the Giver of Life,  Remover of pain and sorrow, The Bestower of happiness, Oh! Creator of the Universe, May we receive thy supreme sin-destroying light, May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction."

Dear Gianpaolo Dell' Orto try not just to listen to it, but to sit down in the light of the candles in a quite comfortable position and with a wooden mala in your hands chant it alltogether 108 times! It is another feeling!! So unknown to us western and probably also western Christians!

This mantra is prohibited by its great sage named "VASHISHTHA" and "Vishwamitra" because of misuse. They placed two conditions for full power use : 1. The chanter should be like Vashishtha. The word vashishtha in sanskrit means "Someone Very Special" means who have chanted it about 12500000 times

According to the doctrine of the Buddha, a human being must study Nature (dhamma vicaya) in order to attain personal wisdom (prajna) regarding the nature of things (dharma). In Buddhism, the sole aim of spiritual practice is the complete alleviation of stress in samsara,[6][7] which is called nirvana.

I have a question, is Savitr of a higher rank then Lord Shiva? Or are they the same?

Good job on the translation. Nice to see an accurate translation, except "dhiimahi." How do you derive that? I read that as verb 'dhi' = meditate in atmanepada form, first person plural = 'we (ourselves) meditate.'

Without the Knowledge of Sanskrit, you cannot understand the prayers you do!!! Learn Sanskrit to understand the prayers!!! Just repeating isn't enough, you should understand what you say to Shiva. Read the Vedas, that's what is most important!!, Bhagavat Geeta is just part of Hinduism. thumbs up so that everybody can see it.

Yes, Krishna says in one sloka explaining His Universality - " Amgonst Mantras, I am GAYATRI Mantra".

I agree with you, esp. in contrast to those who say ignorance is ok. True meaning is complicated and simple. A basic course in Sanskrit is enough to understand this mantra for yourself. If you would like a word-for-word analysis of word roots and grammar of this mantra, I can send you that. For insight, perhaps you can meditate that or ask a guru.

continue... 2. The chanter should be like Vishwamitra. The word Vishwamitra mean the "The friend of the World" who cares about well-being of whole world and not greedy wicked minds. No other misconduct, greedy, immoral can ever gain the power of mantra.

This is a Mahamantra and is cursed. I suggest you not to practise it with out guidance. It can have ill effects. It would do more harm than good. If ya still wanna do it. do it in your head! dnt speak. Place of saying mantras is important as every place has energies. Avoid it in washrooms toliets etc..

nd stated that questions on the origin of the world are not ultimately useful for ending suffering.[4][5] Rather, Buddhism emphasizes the system of causal relationships underlying the universe (pratītyasamutpāda) which constitute the natural order (dharma) and source of enlightenment. No dependence of phenomena on a supernatural reality is asserted in order to explain the behaviour of matter.

Yes, there is a way to do it. First you have to download a software called atubecatcher. This is easy to use and you can download any video from you tube you want and after is downloaded, this software has the capability to convert into mp3. After that will be able to copy the mp3 to your cell phone. Hope this helps. Regards.

Thank you! I had a dream a few nights ago about being thrown into a furnace and just as panic was about to set in someone threw the OM syllable at me and all I heard after that was the chanting of Gayatri Mantra. I figured it was the universe's way of telling me it as time to take refuge in this chant. Thank you so much for sharing.

As a final note, core of all Sadhnas (Penance) in hinduism is self-purification and righteous conduct which comes from wisdom. If anyone aim something else, then it is just waste of God's grace.

108 ia a Hariprasad number, meaning it reflects the tantra of Siva and Sakti. Sakti's number of completion is 9. All numbers that add up to 9 are hers (like 108). 108 are the names of each of the Devas. 108 also describes some astronomy relationships. In Hindu numerology, the Devas arranged the world according to mathematical relationships, which in turn reflect their relationships, and their "lila" of life.
