Anybody remember real Rock? God I miss songs like this. What the hell has happened to music?
Report spam or abuse
In my opinion, regarding the "downfall of decent music" in the modern era, it's what happens when artists let the "money talk and the music walk," or when MODERN TECHNOLOGY, itself, makes the music and NOT the ARTISTS, THEMSELVES!
Report spam or abuse
+AngelofAnguish Here is what happened, Rap came on the scene and became popular, then the grunge era....end of story. The grunge era allowed for people to no longer be required to be proficient on their instrument or have to sing well. Nobody in modern music can play a proper solo any longer and vocally, I can't name one person that can sing well anymore. Here is a fun fact: I am a professional musician and have many friends who back in the day were not even allowed to sing back up vocals in a band, that is how shitty they were....Now, many of them currently are lead singers in a band and there has been no improvement since highschool. This how low the bar has been set, no b.s.

This song is just begging for a speed metal cover.

I think that would be legit. But I'm drunk as fuck, what do I know. LOL

Today's music is all shit. From the 70's through the mid 90's it was great. Now it's all rap bullshit and other garbage like iggy azalia.

I'm 15 and I love 80's music it's so much brtter

+cade heder You give me hope for the next generation....keep it up buddy and rock on. Do yourself a favor, look up Rock Candy by Montrose, a song I just rediscovered the other day. Sammy Haagar was the lead singer for this group, rockin song.

Over looked band... awesome guys.

The only song by Night Ranger that I'd listen through 'til the last note when 94 WHJY (Providence) played it back in the day...
Report spam or abuse
the backbone of this song is pure 80's synth, and it's perfect.

Jeff Watson was the man. Night Ranger was best when he was a part of them. Alan Fitzgerald on keyboards...a Hagar/Montrose ex-band member. These guys were incredible live.

As a sound connoisseur and predominant melodeth admirer, this is fucking rad. Especially the guitar tones and harmonies. Even the dudes girly voice is alright

Their guitar players are both great for pop rock stuff and beyond. Watson does that 8 finger thing lol.

Jeff Watson was the better technical player. Faster and cleaner.  Jeff played the 2nd half of the solo.

They don't write 'em like that anymore....
Report spam or abuse
They don't write 'em, they use pro tools and butcher remakes with talentless artists. Then my kid shows me this "brand new"(cover) song she describes as "Great Dad". My parents told me the same thing about their music LoL. Great comment btw. : D

i do have to say, laura  Ann you have great taste !!! you rock women!! .
Report spam or abuse
I find it laughable that people describe this as "real" music. This is bubble gum cliche rock. If Night Ranger did not put this out...Bon Jovi or Poison would have.   With that said...I like this tune.
Report spam or abuse
+Newman Noggs Just because something is original does not mean it's not cliche. Lets take a stroll down memory lane and look at a few song titles shall we....   High road  Sign of the times  I did it for love  Not cliche? Sorry...my verdict stands.

I was working for Jack Blade's mother in law back in 1987. This was the first time I met him and his band at his mansion somewhere in the hills of Santa Rosa. I spent 2 nights there and watch him and his band practicing. They gave me a record of their's and all members signed it. When I moved to Japan a Japanese girl begged me to sell it to her. She paid me $200.00. Jack Blade and his band were very nice and humble people.

You make some good points. I have tried to embrace rap and hip hop and it just doesn't do anything for me accept shake my head in disgust.

The link Bobbi Jo (no we're not related lol) suggested... I didn't click it because live stuff is bout 50/50, probably wasn't gonna be all that. But came across it later and I was WRONG.  If you like NR, you have to see it.  It is so dead on, and the solos are so so sweet....

Best guitar SOLO's!!!!!     Love it!  :)
Report spam or abuse
So damn catchy, it's difficult to stop listening to the Best Of I've made for myself here on Youtube. Frankly, all the long hair stuff and ridiculous outfits were not in my line of interest, I'll leave that to crazy Japanese and other girls (and boys) with hormonal outbursts. But the songs and guitarsolo's where absolutely mindblowing.

Brad Gillis also jammed on Ozzy's, "Speak of the Devil " album. Rock On !

+kai Ravendale I, too, am certain that Ozzy has a WEALTH of recordings with Brad on guitar! Just WHEN those shows/songs will (actually) BE released is ANYONE'S guess! In my opinion, IF ANYTHING, Ozzy probably won't release them "fearing that THOSE shows might 'eclipse' or 'hurt' his relationship with Randy Rhoads."

I would love to see hear some recording of all the ozzys guitar players even if a few were only meant for tourning.i saw night ranger this year with great white it was a kick ass concert

One of the more popular songs of the early 80's. Considered ruff and raunchy for the times.... @ 2:04 you can hear the true depth of "Night Ranger" Very cool!
Report spam or abuse
Ruff and raunchy for the times? Nothing ruff or raunchy about this song. Have you ever heard of AC/DC or Judas Priest..Van Halen or Iron Maiden? True depth??????? Good grief, Night Ranger was a feel good top 40 band. Bubble gum to say the least.

Great Guitar Rife
Report spam or abuse
A guitar riff is for example the opening lines or hook of Satisfaction by the Stones or the intro riff to Walk this Way by Aerosmith. They refer to that as a riff or a lick, depending on the situation.

i saw these guys back in '83 at the civic center in Beaumont Texas...i think they opened for Judas Priest, or Kiss.

+AngelofAnguish Yeah, you can't do air guitar with modern rock.  If there is guitar, it is low in the mix and just a wall of white noise.  Of course, I've become my parents.."That's not real music!" lol.  I can only imagine what "music" will be in 50 years.

+billybob ozborne For the life of us "old school"-ers, I just HOPE, just HOPE, it'll be BETTER than what's being promoted/sold in the stores and being played on radio, today! Well, regardless or despite what bands record companies sign or continue to sign, I'll ALWAYS have my collection of "old school" music "to get me through the day-let alone (modern) life, in general!"

God, I love Night Ranger!  I used to go booking down the interstate going 95 playing this song as loud as it would go.  VERY lucky I never got caught.  I need to put this on my iPod.  Unfortunately, I don't have a cool car anymore; it's a practical one due to a number of injuries I suffered in an accident a decade ago. :`(
