Ignoring the future isn't a good idea.

+Félix Lengyel Good answer!  In other words, assess the situation, create an action plan and don't dwell on the endless possibilities of the outcome....just do what needs to be done, and focus on the task at hand.

"I have spent my whole life scared, frightened of things that could happen, might happen, might not happen, 50-years I spent like that. Finding myself awake at three in the morning. But you know what? Ever since my diagnosis, I sleep just fine."-Walter White

Plus, if you fixate on something that doesn't exist; it could be brought about as a result of you putting your energy in it. Quantum physics: If you have two cups, and are asked which cup the electron is in. The cup you pick will have the electron in it, just because you believed it to be there.
Report spam or abuse
+K4inan Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm a total newb but according to quantum physics the same electron is, in this case, in both of the cups at the same time. The electron is orbitting the protons and the neutrons and it's in the point A and point B at the same time depending at which point you are "looking" at.

Fear is a self-defense mechanism that compels individuals to seek a way out of potential danger. If his ancestors didn't have fear about their surroundings, this man would not exist.

Great point about Emotion has been scientifically proven to be the basis of all of our decisions.  What about feeling?

He is saying stop worrying about it and get it done. Don't think of your whole workload as a whole. Think of it in chunks. You will complete 1000 word essay a lot quicker if you don't worry about the speeches or the exam or the practical. Then move on to the next thing. If you stop worrying and start being more productive to completing your tasks it will all be over before you know it.
Report spam or abuse
simply you are not rooted in reality...

The formula of ignorance: you described! : that's the result of thoughts not deepened enough. Investigate, child, here's a biologist speaking also: what fear are you refering to? It's not the same daily and useless fears that he (or any other teacher) is talking about. The "Darwinian fear" is the "right brain's" fear. The irrational and unproductive fear is the left brain's one. The "time" fear. This is the fear that's destroying, ever. Destroying hearts, countries, peoples, nature, Earth.

So forward planning/thinking is insanity? Doesn't sit well with me...
Report spam or abuse
meditation. trying to get present to the moment. Evolve real permanent not affective courage via breaking through your made up wall of anxiety. for example you re afraid of losing your job, go out find another while you are in your actual job. probably you will think "omg what if i dont fit in the new enviorment etc. etc.". Start reading books about selfhelp. amazing stuff and ideas.
Report spam or abuse
so what you're saying is that i should put it off until the assignment is in the now? the day it's due?
Report spam or abuse
Those are real problems, that you are aware of. But fear of not graduating, is a nonexistent problem at the moment.
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
no, you shouldn't WORRY (per se) about whether or not you'll be able to afford a meal tomorrow, you should actually do something so you CAN afford a meal tomorrow. Stop worrying and do something about your problems. It's not that you shouldn't be concerned about tomorrow, of course you should, but it's when your fear of the unknown prevents you from taking action.

What happens next might very well be imaginary at this point, but it might or will be real at some point in the future (barring "crazy" fears). If this future event is somehow worrisome to you, fear could be seen as a mechanic of the mind to draw attention to it, allowing you to prepare for the event and possibly handle it in a better way when it eventually becomes real. I would therefore consider such fear neither insane nor imaginary.

His premise amuses that the unknown is not predicable and thus it is pointless to fear it. However, if I shoot a man, I know to be scared because I have a good idea of what is going to happen to me.

Agree, brighteyesavvy. The thing is most things are so simple but we can make them very complicated. Love is all we need and everything else falls into place.
Report spam or abuse
Stop worrying about what happens next he said. I kept checking the load bar for the video XD
Report spam or abuse
Your fear is irrational. You are living in your mind. Your fear is therefore insanity.
Report spam or abuse
If you are aware enough, you don't need fear at all. The awareness will always help you in any situation ... Even when someone is gonna depart from your life ...
Report spam or abuse
Yes, but, I think hes trying to relate more to everyday activity in todays world. Its the small things like, 'should I travel abroad?' 'should I call that cute girl?' Helping the individual to make the decisions they actually want in life

Worrying about your workload is exactly the type of insanity this man is urging us to avoid. Do what you must do in the moment, but don't worry about what needs to be done in the future. Worrying will only detract your attention from your work in the present moment. Therefore, it can safely be said that worrying literally works against the accomplishment of the goals which you are worried about accomplishing.
Report spam or abuse
a good example of what he means , example a guy who fears to ask a girl out , and uses past experience with imaginary outcomes. So he just is alone all his life cause he always fears tommorrow which doesn't exist.

Without fear our species would have been long gone. Fear prepares us to anticipate possible events, such as a bear attack for example. In such an event our brains produce adrenaline and a fight or flight response.
Report spam or abuse
He even said "If you're SUFFERING the non existential" not simply "If you're EXPERIENCING the non existential"
Report spam or abuse
How much does this slimy mother fucker get paid to let cum soaked clichés cum out his white pussy eating mouth? Fuck this asshole.
Report spam or abuse
Another one missed the point. His emotions are based on what IS happening, not that MIGHT happen.
Report spam or abuse
Report spam or abuse
I think he meant that if you fear what hasn't yet happened it's irrational fear. Your fearing about something that does not exist. So it takes you out of the moment that you are supposed to be living in.
Report spam or abuse
Yes, anxiety is not beneficial in the same way it was when we were in tribes and stuff, sure. But anxiety can be very beneficial to gain the necessary motivation to complete a task. It can also improve performance for particular tasks, up to a point. If it goes beyond a certain limit, it will decrease performance. At least that's what I learned in college.

the biological process turns out to be unbeneficial by causing us unnecessary anxiety about things that aren't even a real threat. so you have to realize when you are becoming anxious for no reason and chill out
Report spam or abuse
Yeah, there's definitely levels of anxiety that can harm rather than help you which is why the spectrum spreads to "disorder".
Report spam or abuse
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Report spam or abuse
That is not what I am say at all! You should plan and prepare for your future but live in the moment. What I mean is that if you are already taking actions to resolve your issues then you need not stress.

You are literally too stupid to insult, but i'll give it a try anyway. When you "pretend" to punch someone you are still doing the act of throwing a punch, and the person on the receiving end of said punch does not necessarily know you are pretending. You are not pretending to throw the punch, you are simply choosing to not hit him when you throw it. Stay in school kids,

You say 'obviously' as if 1. He said that and 2. As if it is implied. Neither of those things are true. If your 'argument' is fundamentally flawed then yes, it is wrong. Now you start babbling about people being depressed about the PAST - this video never once mentions living in the past, he specifically talks about fearing the future. I also like how you imply you can just 'mentally' fix depression. You are the single dumbest fuck I've ever talked to on YouTube. Grow up? I'm 22 with a psych d.
Report spam or abuse
I didn't miss the point. I think the point is wrong and that he is wrong. It's easy to come up with wise words that have no ground in science and logic but sound good. Want to know how to be happy and not afraid? Talk to a psychologist, not a guru. Shit, psychologists don't even know how to be unafraid 100% of the time, why would some bearded indian guy on youtube hold the secret?
Report spam or abuse
lol i fucking wish i had a bunch of schoolwork to do. that shit was stressful at the time but man, looking back those were easy times.
Report spam or abuse
This guy is clearly not a sikh although I liked the pun.
Report spam or abuse
I really dont understand this outlook. So i'm insane if i'm worried about getting hit by a car because its not in the present, so i should just walk out into oncoming traffic? Seems legit.
Report spam or abuse
Primal fear isn't technically a "fear" it is instinct. Primal fear is understanding something WILL hurt you, it is based in reality, and it isn't something you believe. I know if I fall 30 stories I will die, this is instinct, but I don't walk around constantly afraid that I am going to suddenly fall 30 stories because it isn't based in reality. Imagining it and being afraid is insane. It is merely something that is a possibility, as such I shouldn't live fearful of it day to day.
