I've been thinking a lot about inclusion in games of late. It started with Fallout 4, continued with GX Australia and then playing Firewatch. I've also been talking to more and more people about it as I try and organise my thoughts. I'm unsure on exactly the steps to take next but one thing I am sure of is the importance of it.
After discussions I had this week about Mass Effect 3, Fallout 4 and Gone Home I realise the importance of it more than ever. Inclusion done well costs nothing and it's of vital importance. We need to be able to find positive representations of ourselves in the media we consume. Which for many people these days is games.
Put simply inclusion matters because it gives hope to marginalised individuals for whom it may be the difference between life and death.
