Historic Stage Lighting Collective

The Historic Stage Lighting Collective (HSLC) was founded in early 2023 by enthusiasts passionate about pre-LED stage lighting. Based in Suffolk, HSLC is a heritage group dedicated to collecting, preserving, and restoring historic equipment. Unlike a conventional museum, our space is hands-on—where vintage lighting is rigged, operated, and explored in context. Visitors can engage with a literature archive, a model theatre, and a demonstration space designed for Colour Music, a technique that tells musical stories through sequenced lighting. HSLC celebrates legacy by illuminating the past: examining each fixture’s history, its contemporaries, and the productions it once served. Through active restoration and storytelling, we’re building a living archive that honours the artistry and innovation of stage lighting’s evolution.
