Hi Penya, Thanks for your question. After the reconquista of Granada (and other cities in Al Andalus such as Cordoba, Medina Al Zahra etc.) in the fifteenth century, the Muslims & Jews of the city were forced to flee. Where did they all go? Some of them went to North Africa and the city of Tetuan was established by fleeing refugees from Al Andalus. These old Andalusian families (such as Tariks familiy) are remembered as the founding families of Tetuan. Tarik Banzi's family still holds on to the key of their home in Granada which they were forced to abandon so many centuries ago.
