Using the YouTube Logo
Please read these guidelines before using the YouTube logo. Remember that the YouTube logo must never be altered or distorted.
The YouTube Logo
-
Clear Space
The Youtube Logo should always appear with the minimum area of clear space around the logo. It is essential that the logotype remains free of all graphics, taglines, identities and photography.
-
Apply the cap height as a base for clear space
-
Minimum Size
In order to ensure legibility and visual prominence, the YouTube logo should never appear smaller than the minimum size shown here for print and digital applications.
-
Minimum online height: 25px
Minimum print height: 0.35 inches
-
Common Errors
The identity system must not be altered or manipulated. Always present the logo fully, being clearly visible. The examples to the right illustrate some of the most common application errors.
Do Not...
✘ alter or partially cover the logo.
✘ alter the proportions, position or letter spacing.
✘ stretch, condense, distort or sperate logo elements.
✘ alter the color or add effects (drop shadow, glow, etc).
✘ replace the logotype with another typeface.
✘ place an image within the logotype.
✘ rotate (vertically, horizontally or diagonally) or flip.
The YouTube logo cannot be used as part of a sentence. The correct way to do this is to use text in the headline, and place the YouTube logo elsewhere on the page. -
The Stacked YouTube Logo
-
The stacked logo should only be used in social media instances where the standard YouTube logo does not work because of size or format restrictions. Please don't use it unless you have to.
Our preference is to use the standard logo versus the stacked logo. Follow the guidance on the right for when to use the correct logo.
If you have to use the stacked logo, in order to ensure legibility and visual prominence, it should never appear smaller than the minimum size shown here for print and digital applications.

Using the Logo in Social Media
-
It is preferred that you use the standard YouTube logo in a social media lineup even though it's not a square tile. In instances where the standard logo does not work, you can use the stacked logo.
Important: You may only make the logo a link, if the destination URL is a YouTube channel.
