My name is Peter Marchand and I was born in 1963 in Belgium, where I still live today. I became a student of Harish Johari in 1983 and organized some of his workshops. Today I am one of the main founders of Sanatan Society, a networking organization of family and students of Harish Johari. I regularly visit teachers in India and also occasionally teach rasa sadhana and jnana yoga in India, Europe, the United States, and Canada. I am the author of 'The Yoga of the Nine Emotions—the Tantric Practice of Rasa Sadhana'(2006)and the 'The Yoga of Truth'(2007) published by destiny books. HI PETER :D your videos are excellent and truely inspiring
I have one problem and that is i dont know how to deal with the people who are supposed to be my friends dillberatly try and make me feel bad at times and hurt me by making me feel left out, i try not to show them ime angry which works, but i feel very hurt from inside. how do i change that so that weneva they try and do something nasty to me or make me feel left out i can just laugh it off and not get hurt.

hello peter!

Im possibly going to the santosh puri ashram and the johari home this summer. I was wondering if you have any advice on getting there. not too sure how to to with transportation. please help! than you!

Hi Gadha99,

Lust belongs to the Shringara rasa. Greed is not an emotion however. If you feel greedy for sweets, then that is also the Shringara Rasa. But if you feel greedy for miracles, then that greed belongs to the Adbhut rasa or Wonder rasa. Feeling greedy for fame belongs to the Courage Rasa. Etc..

I had a question- you say all emotions can be expresed by the 9 rasas. What about lust- both sexual & for material objects?

Also greed?

Dear radxc1,

True, the book is intended to provide yoga teachers as well as people like yourself with all details related to this ancient indian knowledge, while the lecture in the clips takes out only that which is the most easy to understand. The book is meanth to serve you as a reference over a long period of time. Mastering the nine emotions is a process and while going through that process, it will become a lot easier to understand the meaning and value of what now appears as rather technical.

I stumbled on these videos accidentally and was so impressed that I special ordered "The Nine Emotions" book. It's a lot more technical and hard to understand than these easy talks PM gives. Anyone else had this experience?

Hi everybody who has been commenting and asking question since I lasted looked - which took to long - I apologize.

To hnicky :
Sadhana is spiritual excercise. Keeping your inner peace when other people are misbehaving is the one of the best kinds of sadhana. It requires that you stop reacting from your ego, but act out of your true self instead, which is ever compassionate, loving and peaceful.

For starting with the game of yoga, it is the same as eating a plate of food. It doesnt matter where your start, as long as you continue eating until the last bit is done.

Peter I am very confused about something - I hope u dont mind me asking ...... correct me if i am wrong but In my understanding everything is a part of our spiritual life - i mean all of our actions and thoughts affect our spiritual life for better or for worse...but then how do I go about improving my spiritual life ? I mean how did u start out ?? did u start with Yoga ? I wld think that depends on my life circumstances and what steps i should take to improve my life .... is that right ? but how do u deal with people who interfere with your sadhna ? To tell u the truth - I had started doing well and unfortunately my sadhna has been envied by alot of people (correct me if i am wrong?) or do i not understand the meaning of Sadhna ? all of my efforts to get in touch with myself have gone wasted and I am back to where I had started long time ago.... I guess I have a long way to go.. can u give me any suggestions ?
