Saxy London Bridge's 800th year celebration wyllieohagan - 671 views - 2 weeks ago
London, Summer Solstice weekend, June 2009

800 saxophonists paraded through the streets of London's Square Mile.
The procession ended at the south side of London Bridge. 2009 is the 800th anniversary of the first stone bridge in London.

Thanks to all the saxophonists who participated and to Sustain and The City of London Festival 2009 who staged the event.

A special thank you to and Amy and Jean and Chris.

Enjoy:)

Information about the event from Sustain's website
http://www.sustainmusic.org/
Part of the City of London Festival 2009, Sustain! is a three-day programme of music and ideas on the theme of sustainability, curated by John Harle musician and founder-director of Sospiro, working with Festival Director, Ian Ritchie.

Sustain! is a creative response to the potentially devastating consequences of economic and environmental climate change, and both brought on by human action and inaction. These are among the most urgent and important issues which we are required to face. In times of global change, imagination is a prized asset to search for new ways of thinking, behaving and leading.

Sustain! brings together people in the vanguard of thought and action who share a common aim to find these new ways and prepare us for the journey though the years ahead.

Surfing at Bundoran : Sun splitting the rocks:) wyllieohagan - 331 views - 3 weeks ago
Here's beautiful Bundoran, in Donegal on the North West coast of Ireland. Bundoran is a seaside resort on the Atlantic and the surf is pretty good there.
We caught these surfers one very fine day at the end of May 2009.
The sun was splitting the rocks that day:)

Enjoy.

Bundoran - The Peak
Bundoran, County Donegal
Bundoran is the surf capital of Ireland, a small seaside town with a number of good breaks within easy walking distance from the town and the holiday accommodation making Bundoran a perfect place for surfing holiday.

The Peak is legendary wave a long V-shaped reef which juts out into the middle of the bay facing west-north-west and offers a short hollow right, and a long bashable left. It works well off a west to southwest swells and can hold waves up to 10 feet. Best two hours either side of low tide. It's one the most perfect waves in Europe and is ridable on most wind directions. Gets crowded, but nothing like as crowded as, say, Croyde or Fistral even on a good day. Not a wave for beginners; expect to get a thrashing if you get it wrong. Show respect to the locals and be friendly and you'll be treated to some of the legendary Irish hospitality.

3-D is a short hollow right-hander between The Peak and the beach which works from mid- to high-tide. It has a tendency to suck dry, so is probably best left to the small number of locals and bodyboarders who ride it. It works up to about six feet.

To the north is Tullan Strand which is a long beach with peaky lefts and rights. Tullan always has a wave of some sorts and is rarely flat.

May Wedding, London wyllieohagan - 289 views - 1 month ago
Family wedding this May in Dulwich College, London.
All of us who attended enjoyed a beautiful, joyous and gracious celebration.

Thanks to the lovely couple for their generosity on their big day.

Sorry we couldn't make the video five minutes in length as promised, but there was just so much going on that to get it down to 10 minutes from 1.5 hours of footage was a feat in itself:)

Enjoy, and all the best.

London based visual artists Wyllie O Hagan founded their St Patrick's Day Film Festival, 3 years ago on YouTube. This digital mixed media work illustrates why they founded the festival. The festival celebrates St Patrick's Day in a creative way. Film themes showcase imaginative, traditional and non-traditional aspects of Ireland's culture; its inclusiveness, its changes, natural beauty, music, song and storytelling, - fiction, fact or legend - they are all here.

We acknowledge and thank © holders whose original work we have incorporated into this short film.

Comment of the Week on YouTube:

"What a beautiful blend of words music and image.

My restless roving eye
moused a thumbnail and
came to rest in reeds with your bird.
Just discerned and ghostly
the swan roams freely between page and pond
as your gentle voice carries me beyond
to think of larger things
in our troubled human world
way beyond the slowly busy swan."

"Women work for Barbie"

"Women work for Barbie" is a two minute film short by London based artists Wyllie O Hagan. Wyllie O Hagan reflect on the irony of how global economics affect women.

The video makes a simple statement about women who work in Barbie factories to make and to buy objects that shape children's image of self.

Writer Sophie Artemis Pitt comments,
"We live in a society which consumes images and objectifies and judges each other; which avidly consumes other people's lives, their weight gains and losses, their hairstyle through magazines and 'reality' television. This video challenges the objectification of the body: models with their painted lips and their dismorphic bodies and yet is visually seductive, using the language of its polemic."
