WWFs International Arctic Programme was created in 1992 as a co-ordination office to serve as a focal point for arctic conservation issues and to promote WWFs activities in the Arctic, whether they be in the US, Canada, Russia or Scandinavia.

As well as lobbying arctic governments to accelerate conservation strategies and sustainable development in the Arctic, the Programme is also responsible for running a number of its own projects on, for example, the impacts of climate change in the arctic and ecotourism.

@JVONROCK I'm not sure what you mean by "when the Arctic was in Canada".. the arctic still is in Canada.. Though it's not the same as it was 87 years ago..

We do need to preserve what's left of it, and I love the fact that people (including myself) are working towards that..

I've been following this wonderful group since the start online with BBC. The task at hand is heroic, although the data an insight won't stop man from his own destruction, It may be a wake-up that the landscape their crossing is soon to be changed forever. What's left of it. Does anyone remember the movie " Nanook of the North" that was only 87yrs. ago and when the Arctic was in Canada. I rate everything they are doing 5 stars. These People are Top Notch all the way. and if it's polar bears your concerned about, perhaps you ought to start with your zoos.
