- Skateboarding has been a passion since my mate Edwin's sister's boyfriend made us skateboards out of bits of ply he fashioned as little surfboards with roller skate trucks and chalkie wheels when I was 10 years old back in 72. We'd take turns towing each other round the square at the back of the church in Alma Road Chadstone on our bikes deliberately steering each other in to the gum nuts on the path - as chalk wheels stopped on a grain of sand and we were after all boys! This was our induction into extreme sports.
