This is an off ride POV of Gwazi, the dueling wooden roller coaster at Busch Gardens Africa in Tampa,Fl. This is a DUELING roller coaster and NOT a RACING coaster. People tend to think that since there are two roller coasters that load in the same station that they must be the same ride. Nothing could be farther from the truth on a dueling coaster. A racer runs two tracks that run together. A dueling coaster has two separate tracks which ARE DIFFERENT from each otherand have a few near misses in which the two track come at each other. In this case, Tiger's track has tighter turns and many quick changes in directions. Where as Lion has more of a slalom type run. With that being said, here are the stats. Gwazi is a mythical creature that had the head of a Tiger, and the body of a Lion. It was built by Great Coasters International at a cost of $10,000,000 and opened on 6/18/1999. The stats for both Lion and Tiger are the same, Height: 105' 5", Lenght: 3,508', Drop: 91' 10", Speed: 51mph, G-force: 3.5, ride duration: 2:30. It should also be noted that this is where the Florida Coaster Club (FLCC) was born. It was during the construction of this ride. I myself am a member of this club. This is a look at what pushes the Liberty Bell. Yes, those are real steam powered engines. The boiler uses #2 deisel fuel to convert water into steam which is then used to push the two large pistons that rotate the paddle wheel at the stern of the boat and yes, it does use a guide track which is underwater. Remember, Walter Disney wanted everything to be as real as possible. That goes for the movies, TV shows, AND his theme parks.

This is a Dentzel Carousel that was installed at Kennywood Park in 1926 along with a 1915 Wurlitzer Band Organ style 153. The cassic Dentzel Carousel is noted for a Lion and a Tiger in it's menagerie of animals plus a Jesters head carving on the rounding boards up top. This carousel has an added feature as a patriotic themed horse was added in 1976 to celebrate our nations Bicentennial year. The music heard in the first part of the video (during the photos) can be found on Bill Black's Carousel Music CD featuring a Wurlitzer 153, which can be found at Carrousel Music on the web.
