Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra (January 8, 1926 - April 7, 2004) was a Indian classical dancer, guru and proponent of Odissi dance. Gita Govinda by Jayadev Gosvami depicts the love pleasures and -pains of the Divine Couple Shri Shri Radha Krishna. The song at the end is sung in Raag Bhairavi. Yahi Madhav: Radha waits to hear the flute of Krishna. she is all made up and lights a lamp for him. The night passes, the sun rises, the moon has set and the birds are all about - yet there are no signs of Krishna. Radha is upset, she is full of self pity and anger. Krishna arrives groggy and with obvious signs of infidelity. Radha notes the peacock feather on his crown has fallen off, instead a girl's earring is stuck on it. Krishna is wearing woman's clothing and he smells like a lady too... Kelucharan Mohapatra was born in Raghurajpur, a village near the temple town of Puri, Orissa, India. Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra (January 8, 1926 - April 7, 2004) was a Indian classical dancer, guru and proponent of Odissi dance. To know more about this subject, check this site: http://ignca.nic.in/gita.htm The second song is yahi madhava, yahi keshava... it depicts the sulking mood of Sri Radha.... "Radha waits for Krishna, throughout the night, Krishna arrives, all sleepy(part 1 of the dance) . Radha goads Krishna to go away and not fill her with more stories and excuses. She says, the beautiful woman with whom you have clearly spent the night must be waiting. Please go there, she 'll rid you of your pains, why waste time here. She points to evidence of his night of passion- his red lips are tinged black from kissing her kohl eyes. His body bears nail marks like gold etchings on sapphire..." from Gita Govinda- Kelucharan Mohapatra was born in Raghurajpur, a village near the temple town of Puri, Orissa, India.
