Hi. I'm WILSON BICKFORD. Being a professional Artist and Art Instructor for the past 20 years or so has put me in contact with literally thousands of students and aspiring painters. My teaching credentials and certifications include Alexander Art, Martin F./Weber and Andree' Art ( Canada )
In these video clips, I have tried to simplify some "problem areas", in the hope that they will help you achieve painting success. While I feel that these tips will be useful, please remember that there is no substitute for practice. ( as they say, ..."It makes perfect" )
My Acrylic Instructional book for NORTHLIGHT BOOKS, "WILDLIFE LANDSCAPES YOU CAN PAINT,...Using JUST 5 Colors", is now available at all major book chains world-wide, www.amazon.com, as well as on my website. My Instructional OIL DVD's, "LET'S PAINT A SUNSET" and "LET'S PAINT AN OLD BARN" (produced by obsidiancv) are also available on my site.
Please click here to check out my blog, too.

Yes, you can make your own White base medium using "tubed" Titanium White Oil Paint and any "clear Oil medium. ( I recommend any of the pre-mixed varieties available, rather than just linseed oil, which is prone to "yellowing". ) Mix medium into a blob of paint until you achieve a "ketchup" consistency, which is easy to spread onto the canvas.

Hey Wilson, I can't seem to find any of that magic white you use. Can I make a substitute by mixing some titanium white with linseed oil? - Some other guy posted on a video somewhere that this is true. If so, how much of each substance, proportion-wise would i need to mix to paint a sky onto, on a 30x40cm canvas? Thanks

"Search" my name on YT to pull up all of my videos ( 20 + ) and you'll see that I have a lesson on rocks. Not necessarily seaside rocks, but I think it will be helpful to you.

Yes, when I paint in my studio, I use Alkyd Titanium White and Liquin mixed into my other Oils. The painting will dry overnight and I can add details the next morning. It works great!
