不過當代提到水舞，大部份還是提到以電腦控制的戶外人工噴泉造景 ，因為它們已經成為旅遊的重點之一。以多組的沉水馬達，配上好幾 種顏色的燈光，以及固定的音樂曲目，使得水舞在演出時，相當華麗 奪目。

水舞的設計系統多半需要強力的馬達，大量的水，還有不同設計的噴 水頭，然後用電腦設計噴水出來的時間，強度，再搭配常用的模組， 例如波浪模組等，組合成一支舞蹈。因此也有人將水舞稱做動感噴泉 ，音樂水舞等。

著名的水舞系統有相當多，當代遊樂設施中幾乎都有水舞的表演，近 來甚至有水舞出租系統，也就是可移動的大型水舞系統，跟隨著短期 活動一起演出。然而，最廣為人知的水舞系統，恐怕仍是美國拉斯維 加斯市貝拉吉歐飯店(Bellagio Hotel)的噴泉水舞秀"The Fountains"。佔地12公頃，容量50萬加崙，1175 個噴水孔，6200個燈光，最高的噴水口可噴到250呎。每年都 吸引了相當多的遊客。全部由美國水景設計公司(Wet design)設計，1998年10月完工。

根據美國水景設計公司的說法，第一個獲得專利的水舞系統應該是1 986年動工的美國德州達拉斯聯合國銀行大樓(Texas Commerce Bank Tower)前的噴泉。然而最早的設計可追溯到1976年佛羅里 達州華特迪士尼世界未來世界的跳蛙瀑布系統(Leapfrog Water Fountains of Epcot Center)。

(Kaohsiung) On March 25, Kaohsiung Organizing Committee of The World Games 2009 officially announced the content of the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony will be composed of four key elements- technology, ocean, steel, and light, which symbolize the characteristic of the host city.

According to the Art Director, Chen Yu-chiou "the opening ceremony always manifests the success of an event and the national image, it is inevitable that we present the best of us to the world. We hope to introduce our indigenous culture to the world and meanwhile reflect our dedication to be part of the international community."

There will be 4,000 performers participating in the opening ceremony at 7.30pm to 8.15pm on July 16. Award winning director Li Shao-ping is the director of the opening's most eye-catching part - a 45-minute virtual show. "Ocean, folk culture, and earth are the three themes in my work", he said. There will be a gigantic earth projection on the field of the Main Stadium, the marathon runner Kelvin Lin, who completed the Four Deserts Race covering Gobi, Atacama, Sahara and Antarctica, will show off his skill across five continents and finally reach his destination: Kaohsiung.

Hayley Westenra, a 22 year old singer from New Zealand, will perform in the ceremony as well.

The other expected highlight at the opening is a three-minute firework show. 3,000 fireworks will be shot off.

高雄世界運動會的開幕煙火表演在25日首度曝光！由負責台北10 1跨年煙火秀的煙火設計團隊打造，架構出全台首見的「環跑式」煙 火，堪稱是全台「最長」的煙火。

這次高雄世運煙火主題是符合高雄海洋印象的「飛簷雕鐲，追波逐浪 」，直接以主場館特殊的建築本體舞台，透過電腦精準控制，搭配震 撼的音樂，呈現如波浪舞般、罕見的環場施放效果。

這是全台首見的「環跑式」煙火，設覺設計和以往遠距離觀賞的經驗 不同，觀眾置身其中，炫麗的煙火近在眼前，為了突顯高雄「海洋首 都」的意象，「藍色」將是開幕煙火秀的重點。

煙火設計團隊表示，世運煙火要在3分鐘內施放3千多發，在1秒之 內要發射15到20發，原本以為在101放過煙火，世運主場館應 該很簡單，但一到現場才知道不是這麼回事，繞全場的距離比101 還要長，可以說是全台最長的煙火。

Masdar is a planned city in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. It is an initiative by the Government of Abu Dhabi through Mubadala Development Company. Designed by the British architectural firm Foster + Partners, the city will rely entirely on solar energy and other renewable energy sources, with a sustainable, zero-carbon, zero-waste ecology. The city is being constructed 17 kilometres (11 mi) east-south-east of the city of Abu Dhabi, beside Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The project is headed by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (ADFEC). Initiated in 2006, the project is projected to cost US$22 billion and take some eight years to build, with the first phase scheduled to be complete and habitable in 2009. The city will cover 6 square kilometres (2.3 sq mi) on a site 6.4 km2 (2.5 sq mi) in size and will be home to 50,000 people and 1,500 businesses, primarily commercial and manufacturing facilities specialising in environmentally-friendly products, and an expected 40,000 workers will commute to the city daily. It will also be the location of a university, the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), which will be assisted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Automobiles will be banned within the city; travel will be accomplished via public mass transit and personal rapid transit systems, with existing road and railways connecting to other locations outside the city. The city will be walled, to keep out the hot desert wind. The lack of cars will allow for narrow, shaded streets that will also funnel breezes from one side of the city to the other.Masdar City will be the latest of a small number of highly planned, specialized, research and technology-intensive municipalities that incorporate a living environment, similar to Novosibirsk, Russia or Tsukuba Science City, Japan.

Notable partners in the project through its Clean Tech Fund include General Electric, BP, Royal Dutch Shell, Mitsubishi, Rolls-Royce, Total S.A., Mitsui and Fiat. Construction of the first phase of the project is being managed by CH2M HILL and design of the central Masdar headquarters building has been awarded to Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.
