A result of a conversation between me and my sister before a lecture (I think), this is a very short clip with me testing the rig for a 3D model of Yahtzee's Zero Punctuation appearence (animating something with no arms or legs takes a bit of working out let me tell you).

Done in 3DS Max, using the ink'n'paint material and contour maps from the mentalray renderer (which goes a little weird around the eyes and hat).

  • you can create inside polygons where the limbs would be, they would be invisable from the outside and you can animate better :)

  • Thanks. You know, despite the amount of times I've had polygons inside out by accident, that never occurred to me.

  • Yahtzee should do one episode like this!!

  • You can't spell for shit!

  • Shoes aren't too good...

  • It would be l33t if Yahtzee could try one out using this

  • wtf

  • better than he does it^^

  • its called fraps my friend

  • Alternatively, Windows Key + Print Screen, paste in Paint.

  • Nice! Of course, the weird stuff that happens with the hat and eyes can be distracting, but I do like how you were able to mesh the 2d Yahtzee look with 3d-ness, ending with a look very much akin to the recent Strongbad Console games.

And you gotta love the 5 o'clock shadow.
