Don't bank on the Isle of Man

http://www.kaupthingiom-dag.co.uk I deposited my life savings with Kaupthing Isle of Man which promised me that my money was safe in its hands. Then on 8 Ocotber 2008 it closed its doors! Now I have been reduced to near poverty. I can't claim social security because I have a half share in a house but I can't sell my half share. Banks on the IoM want your money and tell you anything to get it, but if they go belly up you are sunk! So, my advice to everyone is "don't bank on the Isle of Man"

Aat 68 and chronically sick, I dont think that is likely.  By the way I work many hours on behalf of myself and others to restore our hard earned life savings. What do you think about your salary going into a bank and disappearing down a black hole?

Exactly - angelsanddoves - none of us wants any more than OUR money back that we deposited in a bank - just like having your salary paid into your designated bank. - BUT it has been stolen - and NO promise of it's 100% return

I sincereley hope you get as much money back as you can and hopefully as much as 100% but the risk of putting your money with someone else is always that you might not get back what you gave. Honest to god, i hope you get the full amount back
