Anyone know what the motor is in the blue elite with the intercooler?

  • @tordoff

It is a 1996 FD3s twin turbo Wankel engine putting out about 320 Hp

i have been building this car for two years now !

  • Jpatt1000 Yer the trim is hard to find in the US I came very close to buying a White Eclat But the front window had a large split in it and the Aluminum was missing

from the top of the Window. The midget is a fun car and may be easy to find parts for it in the US !

  • These cars are so forgotten and underrated its criminal...

  • And comes complete with the Morris Marina door handles!

    BTW, what's the music?

  • Thanks for the fine video of such an unusual classic. This series Elite has such a strange look you either like it or hate it. I have always been drawn to the crazy shape myself but then, I love all Lotus cars. It does have that stretched Gremlin look as one of your responders mentioned. Hah - my wife thinks so too. I have an Elite myself but the early 1959 S-1 #1096 which is featured here on youtube. I would love to find a good example of this series. They would be a hoot side by side. Thanks

  • Awesome cars.

  • I always liked the Elite.

  • @ozlotus1976

Cracking comboLotus chassis and free revving motor you'll scare yourself to death. Are you running the Lotus gearbox diff and back axle?

I had two Elites in the 80s (82-83 and 86-88 replaced with Hilux when I moved to the farm) both 2000cc 160bhp, i lived at one end of the Snake Pass (don't know if this road is known outside uk)and was at Uni at the other. This was pre the speed cameras that have appeared everywhere in the UK, pure heaven (don't ask what the average speed was).

  • i bought a 76 eclat for $850, I keep chickens in it as the old girl kept breaking down, I was told its quite rare as it black and silver, anyone know? ;-(
