Something a little different this time, in more ways than one. As you can hear, this is not a piano recording. Instead, I'm playing a celeste - a digitally sampled version, that is. This marvelous instrument was used extensively in the first three Potter scores, but typically just for certain themes and tonalities and moods. I wanted to have some fun exploring a few of the other themes introduced in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, but still using the celeste. This recording was done in one take, with very little planning ahead of time. I basically just knew I wanted Hedwig's theme, Harry's themes, "Hogwarts Forever", and at least one of the themes associated with Voldemort to be involved. (I ended up only using the so-called sorcerer's stone theme for the last one, but oh well.)

Anyway, because this was all improv'd on the spot, it's a little rough and a little random in some spots, and I considered not even posting it. But why not? =P Hopefully a few of you will get a kick out of it. Apologies for the ridiculously slow tempi - it's not that I can't play these at full speed, but I was going for a sort of wistful and nostalgic tone, as we come to the end of this film series that began over ten years ago. Maybe I shouldn't have gone QUITE so slow in a few parts.

  • So have you already combined this with your sine wave?

  • @StarWarsFan786 Afraid not...the sine wave and the celeste patch didn't match tuning-wise, so it sounded bad. This is just the raw celeste patch.

  • fantastic work, will you allow me to use this for an upcoming trailer/tribute of harry potter I plan to do?

  • @dwho1994 Thanks! Yeah, that'd be fine, just please include a link to my channel. :)

  • Celeste has just an amazing song, and the Harry Potter music is simply amazing, even though they use celeste some places it's really really amazing to hear it all played like this!

Thank You for the recording! :)

  • This is so amazing. I love people who improv. They astound me every time. Keep up the good work. P.S. I am so jealous.

  • Bloody Brilliant!!!

  • Goodness does this need to be orchestrated... :'[

  • beautiful sound and lovely to hear a different version. It is slower than the original but I don't think that's a bad thing, in fact it's quite relaxing :). I'm looking into the celeste at the moment and wanted to hear some examples of the sound, thank you for this!

  • This is beautiful. I'd love an mp3 of this. Hint hint.

  • This does not have enough views! This is brilliant
