Just another short little TOEE video. This one shows the Evil beginning of the game plus a very quick random battle with Pirates. Yarr, Matey!

  • I saw this on the shelf at my bargain bin (along with Rogue Spear) and couldn't pass it up After playing the likes of Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, and Neverwinter Nights, I never expected this to be as brutally difficult as it is. That said, it's the good kind of brutally difficult, the backgrounds are gorgeous, the music's nice, and the setting is great. This is pretty much as close to the tabletop as the video game D&D's are gonna get. Hard to get set up if you dunno 'bout the patches though.

  • @DWTerminator Your bargain bin IS awesome; I haven't seen a copy of TOEE in shops for ages. As for the game, I definitely agree that it (post-patch) is the most faithful D&D adaption ever and, yes, it can really kick your ass. As with all D&D games, it gets significantly easier once the party has been levelled up a bit, but even then there are some interesting challenges left. TOEE and the even more epic Wizardry 8 were the last truly amazing big budget PC RPGs in my opinion...

  • @Demiath The game is now available on GOG.com for 5.99$. It's an awesome site with lots of these old games

  • @SlevinBE You've not seen my latest video, have you? ;)

  • @KaiJiN2k3 Sorry I wanted to clarify. I didn't mean neutral - neutral, just lines that I felt weren't unlawful at all. Heh heh ^^

  • I remember this game. I had a bit of fun with it but eventually stopped. I think the dialogue bugged me the most. Maybe I misread them but I remember thinking some lines were rather neutral, but the game didn't think so. Eventually my Paladin leader dropped from Lawful Neutral into True Neutral, and that's when I put it down.

Hmm. Maybe it's time I give it another go ^^

  • @BubbleGumNipples i had the exact same experience. but with the current circle of eight 6.0 mod, it is not only playable, but it's the best pc d&d ever.

  • I got this game when it first came out, but it was so broken I couldn't get very far and had to stop, I also got the impression it wasn't going to be very long.

Troika made some great rpgs though. I should try this again with patches.

  • @Demiath Stumbled upon this video while browsing for some gameplay footage of this game, so I haven't seen your latest video. But I will view it now ;)

  • It's terribly sad how underrated this game is. Atari is a fool for not expanding of this.

  • I know it's awesome. They also had a copy of Pool of Radiance but I didn't grab it (haven't heard many good things about it). My ToEE is used, but in great condition (though the box has some minor damage and it all smells of cigarettes... I can live with that though).

Those spiders at the beginning are evil. Pure. Evil. I managed to get a single hit in before two of them wiped the floor with me (I hate webs). I'll have to see about getting Wizardry 8 if I can find it.
